After dropping to just a 0.9 adults rating in its second episode Best Friends Forever is certain to be canceled, even if, like another certain to be canceled show, NBC just loves, loves, loves it!

In other news, anyone suggesting that Law & Order: SVU is "on the bubble", is either crazy or playing crazy on the Internet to troll for traffic. You be the judge.

Bear pic hat tip to alert reader Cindy.

The Renew / Cancel Index above includes results beginning January 2, 2012. How did NBC's shows stack up based on their Fall results? Click here.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2012
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2012
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2012
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2012
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2012

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

I may be one of the few to say it, but HL will not be cancelled…it’s definitely a show that can be syndicated…it’ll definitely be held over for next season and most likely last season.

8:00 Parenthood (would be an amazing idea to move it to a “family” time)
    9:00 The Apprentice/Celebrity Apprentice

    8:00 Harry’s Law
    9:00 The Voice

    8:00 The Biggest Loser
    9:00 New Drama
    10:00 Smash

    8:00 The Voice (results)
    9:00 Whitney
9:30 Off the Rockers/Are You There, Chelsea? (If continued)
    10:00 Law and Order: SVU

    8:00 30 Rock
    8:30 Community

I agree with you about Harry’s Law being continued at least until syndication, but some things you suggested wouldn’t work.
Here is my opinion factored in:

Who’s Still Stamding OR Minute to Win it
    New drama
    Celebrity Apprentice

LUV the idea of Parenthood at 8 pm, but being on Sundays would only give it a half season order, and NBC needs its veteran shows. You also forgot 7 pm

    new drama

Not sure NBC should do 2 cycles of the Voice, but that might be what they need. Mixing HL with it won’t be good.

    TBL/Harry’s Law

Here’s where Parenthood would fit in. Also, The Biggest Loser would be only 1/2 season, as it’s aging.

    Wed (fall)
    new comedy

    Voice Results
    Off their Rockers
    Whitney/new comedy (whichever does better)
The Voice on Wednesday is a good idea, but no Chelsea, and Off Their Rockers has been stronger than Whitney so far.

I think that proabably most of the shows I listed will get renewed, except Fashion Star they can dump since it’s the weaker of the reality shows they have. Also, I wanted to list Community as having a final season, but I don’t think NBC wants 3 major comedies to go after next year, as 30 Rock and The Office have to wrap themselves up. Imagine if there were more veteran shows that left with Friends and Frasier after the 2003-04 season?

  • MJDB

    Possible 2012-13 Primetime Schedule:

    8:00-New Drama
    9:00-The Celebrity Apprentice (2 Seasons)

    8:00-The Voice (2 Seasons)

    8:00-The Biggest Loser (2 Seasons)

    8:00-Betty White’s Off Their Rockers
    8:30-New Comedy
    9:30-New Comedy
    10:00-Law and Order: SVU

    8:30-30 Rock (Final Season)
    9:00-The Office (Final Season)
    9:30-Parks and Recreation
    10:00-New Drama

    8:00-New Drama

    8:00-Drama Rerun
    9:00-Drama Rerun
    10:00-Drama Rerun

  • Nick

    Sorry, continued:

    new comedy/30 Rock
    New drama

Like the fact that the new drama has an Office lead-in. Community is stronger than 30 Rock, so it gets an :00 time and full order.(But seriously, no new comedies?)

Who’s Still Standing/ Minute To Win it/ Fashion Star/ Escape Routes/ Fear Factor

Where is GRIMM on your list???
NBC does not need a new reality, it has many at its disposal.

    Rock Center
    Latest Burn-off
    SVU rerun

Dateline can be shortened to 1 day.
Rock Center could move to Sat. to help the “latest burn-off”

Sean, I like your ideas a lot, but I hope NBC doesn’t use your schedule! ;-)

You know what? By popular demand, we will do +3 and -3 here. Effective tomorrow, the rule for all other threads (where only five shows are left on each one) will be +3, +2, -2 and -3 until we are down to three shows.

    30 ROCK – 22 (+3)
    PARKS & RECREATION – 17 (-3)

    15. Whiney (4-11, 10:28pm)
    14. Harry’s Law (4-12, 9:44am)

    9. Law & Order: SVU (4-13, 8:18am)
    8. Best Friends Forever (4-13, 8:22am)
    7. Up All Night (4-13, 8:13pm)
    6. Grimm (4-16, 4:38pm)
    5. Awake (4-19, 9:29pm)

    Victor’s Village:
    1. Community (4-21, 4:09pm)

“My mother was an English professor. When I was 16, I started dating one of her students. He was a senior, he was 21 years old, and he asked me to marry him. And I said yes because I wanted to get away from my mother. She found out and she told me that if I didn’t stop seeing him, that she would have him kicked out of college. And I told her that I was moving out. She was halfway through a bottle of vodka and she dropped it. It shattered all over the floor. And then she picked up the jagged edge of the bottle and…and she came at me, screaming, “I’ll never let anyone else have you.” And so I kicked her, hard. And then I kicked her again. And she went flying across the room, into the wall. And she slid down to the floor. I’d never hurt her before. I ran out. I was so afraid…”
-Olivia Benson, from Law & Order: SVU episode 6.19 “Intoxicated”

  • Ultima

8:00 Parenthood (would be an amazing idea to move it to a “family” time)
    9:00 The Apprentice/Celebrity Apprentice

    8:00-New Drama
    9:00-The Celebrity Apprentice (2 Seasons)

    Sunday Night Football?

At least when goldfish come up with bad schedules, they can’t remember them for long enough to be burdened by regret!

  • Justun121

NBC won Monday, Tuesday, and Friday! It’s my favorite network, whith the quality of the shows, it should win Thursday too.

Should tell you that Thursday is what is keeping them down.

    Move Whitney to Thursday

Community and 30 Rock to Wednesday

Put an end to The Office.

  • Justin121

    – Kennith, what do you know about revenge?

    – Well, the Bible says it’s wrong but it’s the surprise hit of the seasonon ABC so… :D

    30 Rock [6.16]

  • Rebecca

Hooray for the +3, -3! So if a show has less than 3 points left we can still eliminate it, I hope? Sorry if that sounds mean. I just mean to shorten the vote list when possible/appropriate.

  • tvfreak

    @Rebecca: Yeah, of course.

  • Rebecca

Voting in the Elimination Game now closed on this thread. It has carried over to the newest r/c index thread on the home page. Check for new rules on page 2 of the comments there.
