@Coffee Steve: I loved watching Dick Clark when “Bandstand” went national and aired at 4:30pm on WABC-TV CHannel 7 in NY. I watched it after school every day (after homework, of course).
While still a youngster, I set-up a table in my room similar to the “Bandstand” set. Remember that half-circle logo with AMERICAN BANDSTAND written on the curved part? It was authentic as I could get it.
Funny…since I had created and produced a political talk show locally, I went for the “Charlie Rose”-look. Black background, round wooden table for host and guest(s).
I occasionally watched “Bandstand” when it went weekly on Saturdays. But, as the ’70s approached, I liked “Soul Train” better.
He was a great game show host. I enjoyed watching “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Years Eve” show, but I hated the West Coast “live” act shows that were likely taped months in advance.
In all honesty, the one show that I DIDN’T enjoy was the Blooper show with Ed McMahon. To me, it was like “Hee Haw.” Programming for the lowest common denominator. It the novelty had worn off, it didn’t take a genius to figure out that these so-called professional and amateur at-home “bloopers,” were created for the show.
To yet another of my heroes from TV’s earliest days. Dick Clark, RIP.

I’m all showered and about to leave, I did read your post in the other room, and enjoyed it. Dick Clark is the standard by which all will be judged by, just as a Group called Alabama of Country Music Fame is the one I credit for making Country Music maim stream, Clark made Rock and Roll acceptable to many parents to let their kids (Me Included) be ok to watch Rock and Roll and listen to it.
I have never heard one bad thing from anyone about Dick Clark.

The TV quiz show that must always be identified in the form of a question: what is “Jeopardy!?” (and yes, just like Yahoo!, an exclamation mark MUST always follow the noun) has announced the roster of “Power Players” who will appear on the show next month. The names include Anderson Cooper, Thomas L. Mustache, Kelly O’Donnell, Katty Kay,Dr. Oz, Chris Wallace, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, David Faber, Dana Perino, Robert Gibbs, Chris Matthews, Lizzie O’Leary (who?…I follow the media assiduously and I’m not familiar with her; had to read the bio provided), Lewis Black, Clarence Page and Chuck Todd. Now I’m sure some Foxbots and dittoheads will claim that “Jeopardy!” tilted the playing field to liberals, but I’m sure that the producers would L-O-V-E to have a prominent ultra-extreme far-right-wing lunatic on the roster…especially since they almost always portray themselves as experts on EVERYTHING. But just as the males in this cohort who were draft eligible a few decades ago managed to skip having to serve, today they WOULDN’T DARE appear on “Jeopardy!” and expose their actual ignorance. And remember…during these celebrity-fests, the questions are easier than during the regular contests!

Sending Obama back to Chicago is the main goal. How can he consistantly lie to the American people and blame the Republicans ALL the time?
The headlines help spread the BS. Tell me, how can Senate Republicans hold up or kill a Bill when the Democrats CONTROL the Senate? They have more than half of theirs on the Senate floor. Yet, Democrats are voting AGAINST Obama bills. The same people who could have tilted the vote to their side of the aisle. But a few Dems are allowed to vote against the President because they are in swing districts. Why doesn't Obama level with Americans and explain the truth?
More double-standard: Obama allows an attack on Ann Romney yet he jumps up and down because someone had taken his wife Michelle to task for turning the White House East Room into a gym. Plus, Michelle is leading the "Nanny State" by telling Americans what they shoudl eat and shouldn't eat.
Of course, there are exceptions. But as we move closer to the conventions and November, the Democrats are becoming more despicable, each and every day.

You can't blame the Republican-led House for no U.S. budget. The House passed a budget. No blame from Obama is being placed on Harry Reid who leads Senate Democrats. He hasn't put the House bill up for a vote and won't pass a Senate version. With Obama, it's his way or the highway.
