CBS SPORTS TEES UP GOLF DOUBLEHEADER WITH
PGA TOUR’S “VALERO TEXAS OPEN” AND CHAMPIONS TOUR’S
“LIBERTY MUTUAL LEGENDS OF GOLF”ON APRIL 21-22
CBS Sports’ golf coverage swings into Texas this weekend at the VALERO TEXAS OPEN with third and final-round action at TPC San Antonio AT&T Oaks Course on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET; both days), live on the CBS Television Network. Celebrating its 90th anniversary this week, the Valero Texas Open is the third-oldest event on the PGA TOUR (1922) and is the longest-running event held in the same city.
Bill Macatee anchors CBS Sports’ coverage of the Valero Texas Open along with Peter Oosterhuis in the 18th hole tower. Peter Kostis calls the action at the 17th hole and David Feherty serves as on-course reporter. Lance Barrow is Coordinating Producer and Steve Milton is Director of CBS Sports’ golf coverage. Last year, Brendan Steele won his first PGA TOUR event at the Valero Texas Open, marking the third rookie to win on TOUR in 2011. Steele looks to defend his title at the Valero Texas Open as he takes on a strong field that includes six major championship winners: Ben Curtis, Rich Beem, Justin Leonard, David Duval, Lee Janzen and Shaun Micheel. Among others competing are Johnson Wagner, John Huh, Matt Kuchar, Kevin Na, Anthony Kim, K.J. Choi, Chad Campbell, Bob Estes, Ricky Barnes, J.B. Holmes, Boo Weekley, Ryan Palmer, Charley Hoffman, Brian Gay, Duffy Waldorf, Tim Herron, Vaughn Taylor, Stuart Appleby, Woody Austin, Kevin Stadler, San Antonio native Jimmy Walker, who has three Top-10 finishes this year, and University of Texas sophomore Jordan Speith, playing with a sponsor’s invite.
