Glad Days and Y&R improved. Last weeks ratings were really scary! And B&B is ahead of their numbers from last year. GH is not showing any significant gains and still down quite a bit compared to last year. Even though they got renewed, ABC can still cancel them at any time right? They better show improvement soon!

    Women 18-34 Rating
    1. Y&R 0.6 (+.1/-.2)
    2. DAYS 0.5 (+.1/same)
    3. B&B 0.4 (same/same)
    3. GH 0.4 (same/-.4)

GH can’t improve with ‘The Revolution’ as it’s lead in. I knew the ratings would be down again. While the show is good, it has no lead-in. 90% of the time The Revolution drops, GH drops that week. Weird…we know GH is on at 3.

The Chew pulled in a lousy 1.99 million viewers. (re-runs?)
The Revolution pulled in a dreadful 1.19 million viewers. (re-runs?)
GH did a bad, but much better 2.217 million viewers, and went up in some demo’s.

I wonder if GH will go up with GMA Afternoon as it’s lead-in for 9 weeks? And when GH moves to 2pm, and has The Chew as a lead-in.

If Gh isn’t doing AT LEAST 2.4/2.5’s by Oct/Nov, it could sadly be done.

  • MJ 23

The Revolution got another series low 1.19 million viewers. The Chew was under 2 million as well so GH was ABC Daytime’s highest rated show last week. So the right decision was made last week.

Considering GH only loss 27,000 viewers last week that’s pretty impressive.

I don’t understand why ABC hasn’t moved GH to 2pm already.

  • Pat

If GH doesn’t start showing some major signs of life soon and keeps hovering low or going down like this, it’s probably no lock to see its 50th next April. That upcoming GMA afternoon show over the summer certainly appears to be a test. That’s probably what ABC really wants to permanently follow The Chew, not GH.

  • Russell

This should be their schedule in the fall as I think The Chew doesn’t need to be a full hour and needs to become a segment on the GMA show like people were mentioning last week.

    1:00p GMA Afternoon
    2:00p General Hospital
    3:00p Katie Couric (syndication)

I think they are taking way too long on GH to wrap up the craptastic stories and get rid of the horrible characters from the previous regime. Time to wrap up hooker stalker that no one cares about, bad Kate/Connie story, who the hell cares who killed Lisa Niles….And, time to dump a lot of dead weight…Delores, Ewen, nuMaxie, nuKate/Connie, Shawn and his kid, Spinelli, Matt, and maybe even Steve and Olivia. Still, the best thing on ABC daytime right now ratings wise and otherwise!

  • Sean

@JJ The Chew was all new last week!

  • rob60990

The Chew & The Revolution were both in reruns last week so don’t celebrate so quickly even though The Revolution is cancelled.

  • Veronica

Chew and Revolution were airing repeats last week. The Revolution is still airing repeats this week but not sure about The Chew.

  • Pat

    @ MJ 23

The View, not GH, was ABC’s highest-rated daytime show last week and always is virtually every week. Last week, it had 3.53 mil viewers. I predict that it won’t be long before it passes Y&R in viewership.

The Chew was in repeats last week, so it’s not surprising that its numbers were down quite a bit. That’s to be expected when a talk show takes a week off.

  • MJ 23

    @ Pat
The View is #1 every week I was only talking about the afternoon portion of the schedule from 1-4pm.

  • Derrick

Very VERY glad Y&R and DAYS are up. Was very worried about Y&R but glad it rebounded!

Also glad B&B went up also!

  • Pat

    @ Sean

You’re so dead wrong and delusional. GH is NOT ABC’s top-rated daytime show. This isn’t 1982 anymore. It was and always is THE VIEW, which had 3.53 mil viewers last week. And I’m not sure what you think you’re celebrating. GH’s is still a largely unwatchable mess and its ratings are terrible. If it doesn’t start inching up and fast, it could be potentially be done before next April, sad to say.

  • rob60990

I miss the days when The View was the lowest rated ABC Daytime show.

  • Richard

Even with the saviors at the helm GH went down in total viewers and hardly budged while the other daytime soaps got bigger increases in the key demos.

I still can’t see how people are blaming the lead-in when GH hit new lows last year with OLTL as a lead-in. Blaming the lead-in for GH’s troubles is just an excuse.

Time to call GH out on why it is not going up. It is the writing and the stories and the characters that these writers still won’t to pimp and feature. No one cares about them anymore.

Time to feature characters that GH fans want to see. And time to lessen the importance of Jason, Sonny and Carly in things. Don’t get rid of them but blend them and not made everything revolve around them. All the returns and cross overs have ultimately boiled down to ties with Sonny or Jason. Most fans just don’t care anymore.

  • Chrisann D

Good for the soaps! Don’t quite get why GH is not moving on up. It (to me) is better with the new writers. Still too much Sonny. Kate/Connie…well just not interesting to me. Love that Anna is back and Heather well who dosen’t enjoy her brand of crazy? Wish we could see more of Anna. I am not loving Starr at GH and I am a fan. I love it more than the things that I wish were different. So I will keep enjoying it till its no more. (Hopefully a long long time)

Glad to see Y & R rebound. There really is a lot of negative comments and complaining about MAB , but it could be worse. Remember The Latham debacle. At least the core characters are played. We just need Hogan gone, and maybe the writing will improve.
