LINDSAY LOHAN CONFIRMED TO STAR AS ELIZABETH TAYLOR IN LIFETIME BIOPIC LIZ & DICK

Production on Original Movie Recounting Fiery Love Story of the Iconic Actress and Richard Burton to Begin in June

Los Angeles, CA (April 23, 2012) – Lindsay Lohan is set to star as the legendary Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime Original Movie Liz & Dick, based on the true story of the screen icon’s historic romance with actor Richard Burton.  Principal photography on the movie will begin in early June in Los Angeles, it was announced today by Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President, Programming, of Lifetime Networks.

For nearly a quarter of a century, Taylor and Burton were Hollywood royalty and their fiery romance -- often called “the marriage of the century” -- was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of its day.  Swarmed by paparazzi, Taylor and Burton’s love affair was played out entirely in front of the global press from the time they met on the set of the major motion picture Cleopatra, left their respective spouses, married and divorced, only to remarry and divorce once again.  Despite their roller coaster romance for the public eye to see, Taylor and Burton shared an undeniable love greater than most people could have ever dreamed.

Regarding the announcement, Lohan said, “I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor.  She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well.  I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.”

“We are thrilled Lindsay will portray beloved Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor,” added Sharenow.  “She is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon.”

Liz & Dick will be produced by Larry A. Thompson Productions, Inc.  Larry A. Thompson (Amish Grace, Lucy & Desi) will serve as executive producer, with Christopher Monger (Temple Grandin) writing.

How can such an unattractive girl portray the most beautiful woman in thr worls??

  • bluone

You have got to be kidding me !!!

  • Mark

    but….why

are we sure this isn’t a late April fools joke?

  • Chuck_T

Oh good God! This must be some kind of joke.

  • We Spent the Kids College Fund at DIsneyWorld

I just throw up in my mouth. Is this a gimmick for LifeTime to draw viewers. Okay I get that Elizabeth Taylor was an actress that drew attention, but we get Lindsey Lohan. Seriously I hope this is lowest rated network movie of all time.

  • Chuck_T

And who will play Dick? Ashton Kutcher?

  • halloween

    I smell Emmy

  • Chuck_T

And Rob Schneider as Eddie Fisher.

  • AppleStinx

The press release didn’t mention a broadcast date. With Lindsay Lohan playing one of the main characters, they probably can’t set a date within the next 5 years.

  • The Watcher

    Yuck!

Be careful if you visit Elizabeth Taylor’s grave, there’s some spinnin’ going on.

  • AppleStinx

Hire Sam Ronson to play Dick. The fireworks will be for real.

  • craigcuk

Tee Hee Hee Heeeeee…This is a fantastic idea, can we please find out who the Executive Producers are please so we can arrange a film crew to follow them as we watch their careers implode.

    Worse episode ever!!

  • rob60990

Poor Liz must be turning over in her grave.

Cleopatra (1962) was a huge bomb for 20th Century Fox, and the studio was in very serious trouble until they released the giant money maker; The Sound of Music (1965), which finally got them out of debt.
Casting Lindsay Lohan to play Elizabeth Taylor sounds like as though it will be a disaster as well.
Is this supposed to be a Comedy, because it sure sounds as though people are going to be laughing out loud whenever Ms. Lohan is in front of the camera.
This looks like it is going to remembered as one of the worst miscasting decisions in the history of television.
I doubt if Debbie Reynolds, or any other close friend/relative of Ms. Taylor, approves of the casting of Lindsay Lohan.
I wonder if Lifetime is trying to compete with the Syfy Channel for the year’s worst made-for-tv movie. Something along the lines of Dinocroc, or Sharktopus.

Lin-Linz is just one more tossed drink away from being in trouble with the law again.

Her publicist must control the media, because EVERY press release he puts out about what Lindsay will star in next, gets printed. People just gobble this s#1t up like popcorn at the movies.

Where’s the John Travolta-starring John Gotti movie? Have they filmed Linz-Linz’s part as Junior’s wife yet?

  • Liz

You’d think the people behind a movie celebrating Elizabeth Taylor would realize that she hated being called “Liz.”

  • HotLatino4GayMarriage

GO LINDSAY! She’s very talented and she’s looking gorgeous again, she did something to her face and now that she’s a redhead again she’s hot again! LILO WE <3 YOU!

  • Ralph Hahn

@Chuck_T: >>> And who will play Dick? Ashton Kutcher? <<< ROFLMAO!!!!

  • Alex

She is gonna NAIL this role. She’s such a great actress

  • Justin

Am I the only one that hopes this reboots her career? I don’t hate her, There’s other actresses worse. Shoot there’s singers worse than her.
