UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – April 23, 2012 – NBC announced that the live two-hour season finale of “The Voice” will now air at a new time on Tuesday, May 8from 9-11 p.m. (ET).Previously, “The Voice” season finale was scheduled for broadcast from 8-10 p.m. (ET) that same night. “Fashion Star” will now move to 8-9 p.m. (ET) on May 8, it was previously scheduled to air at 10-11 p.m. (ET).

"The Voice" is a vocal competition show featuring celebrity musician coaches Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. Carson Daly hosts and serves as producer, and Christina Milian serves as social media correspondent. The show’s innovative format features three stages of competition: the first begins with the blind audition, and then the competition enters into a battle phase, and finally, the live performance shows. In the end, each coach will have one star artist left ready to compete against the other teams’ finalists to be named “The Voice” – the winner will receive the grand prize of a recording contract.

    Yikes. Poor Unforgettable.

  • One @ Mon

I’ve been saying that of Unforgettable for the entire season. It was doomed the instant it premiered below a 3 in the ratings…

  • Joseph

Why didn’t they put Brian Williams’ “Rock Center” after “Voice”?? It may be the only way for that show to get sampled.

    who cares?

  • Nick

Good move by NBC. It’ll easily crush the competition.

    Makes sense.

    When is TBL season finale?

  • WaxxZipp

Question is will it be in the 4.0’s by the end of the season… If NBC decides to air The Voice in the fall it will ruin the shows ratings… Im talking about 2.0’s, the show has a terrible format, and the only part people watch are when the judges turn their chair around. It will get stale if they air 2 seasons a year.

    I guess it’s bye-bye Fashion Star.

Anything that helps Cougar Town, I’ll take!

A Variety article today made a good point about NBC possibly making it the show a Fall show. Basically, NBC should keep it in the Spring to help prop it up while the NFL does it in the fall. While I understand why NBC would want to move it to the Fall (and only in the Fall), it might get burned out fast. But if they wanted to make it a Fall show, they couldn’t very well wait until next year.

I love the blind auditions & battle rounds, but the live shows are soooo stale

  • Bee

i hope this doesn’t hurt PP!

  • Nick

Good idea, now it’s no longer up against NCIS or Glee (not that the latter makes such a difference). I despise the whole genre, though, so…

NBC should keep it just a spring show. That way they have one thing in the Fall to keep them from completely crashing (Sunday night football), and one thing in the spring (The Voice).

Probably because the finale at 8 last season only got a 3.7.

The Voice is limping towards its finale……it may be greeted with a collective yawn.

Now the UK version is taking a giant dump on itself. Producers have also chosen the battle round winners in advance, just like the US version. One contestant will clearly dominate the other then lose. Its so transparent a fix that there is no way this format stands a chance. The US version is void of any potential stars, the UK and AU versions have talent but are cursed with over production syndrome.

It does better at 10 than 9 and at 9 than 8.

I say move all 2-hour editions to 9-11 pm and all 1-hour editions to 10 pm to maximize its ratings.

It’s fitting that they’re all putting up a number 2 in their logo- since they’re the 2nd best singing competition in the Spring- and, probably 4th or 5th overall in the oversaturated world of singing competition copycats to the original, #1 for 8 straight years- American Idol. The talent on The Voice is so below average- and yet, the moronic judges only say good things. It’s so pathetic that people watch this crap on a regular basis- Glad to see IDOL pull ahead for good against this awful imposter
