Bored with the recycling of topics in the CBS renew/cancel posts? Me too. Blame Les Moonves for renewing all those shows early!
To make room for new dramas in next Fall's schedule, CBS will cancel at least one of the CSI offspring (NY or Miami), and maybe both. The conventional wisdom is that if its only one NY goes and Miami stays, but I don't think there's enough behind that conventional wisdom to trust it.
Those imagining that CBS will keep them both with some sort of timeslot share or Saturday timeslot have very vivid imaginations.
What do you think?
More sitcom time could save Rules of Engagement and/or Rob, but without it, they're both likely gone too. Two and a Half Men will be renewed, unless something freakish happens and Ashton Kutcher's salary demands aren't met.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

@tvfreak
That’s ridiculous. There is a bigger chance that CBS will renew both CSIs than renewing Unforgettable. What makes you think CBS will screw two shows just so they can save Unforgettable that would most likely fail in whatever timeslot it would go? Even if both CSIs are cancelled, Unforgettable goes with them. Eveb if only one CSI spinoff survives, Unforgettable also goes.
@Fake Me Out
I agree with your proposal. It still makes sense to renew both and share a timeslot. Both do well here in the US and internationally. Can you imagine the financial hole cancelling both CSIs will leave on CBS once they are cancelled? It’s not that the new shows are going to do better or last longer.
@JK
I watched everey episode of the last season multiple times and didn’t notice any mountains.
NOW, I FEEL IT IN MY ARTHRITIC BONES. “Unforgettable” WILL be renewed.
IF I were a gambler, I’d put a few bucks down on the U/F renewal. But, I’m NOT a gambler (only Kenny Rogers) and gambling IS illegal.
You might just get egg on your faces. As thr Boy Scouts say..”Be Prepared.”
lol
unforgettable will be renewed in your dreams
@Brian J “It’d also be a way for the network to test out a new broadcasting strategy.”
Old is new again. The NBC Mystery movies, for example, did this back in the 70′s with some of my favorite shows … Columbo, Banacek, McMillian & Wife, Snoop Sisters, McCloud (as close to a western as I like to get) et al.
Of all the fan commented CBS schedules for next year, @One is the best one I’ve seen. Just add 2 Broke Girls in it’s original timeslot after How I Met Your Mother and it’s a good looking schedule.
@Ralph Hahn made me LOL
Okay, I’ll add $$$ to the pot.
As for the burning question of the week, my answer is neither! But if one should go, I hope it’s Miami because it’s much more expensive and it has better timeslot but still did not do great. Plus it already has 10seasons! Miami fans should be okay with that and give another season to little brother NY.
TheOneandOnly. I watched the one on my DVR last night about the guy who was run over by the boat (from late Feb or early March). In the ocean scene, they show the coastline with mountains in the background. On another episode from Jan or Feb, they were on a building and you could see the mountains outside of LA in the background. IMO, this is poor editing, filming, or whatever you want to call it. I like the show and wish both would stay, but if they can’t pay attention to the details that make it look like MIA, then get it off the air or call it CSI LA.
I was surprised when CSI Miami was renewed last year and will be surprised if he it is renewed again this year. It is the only one of the three that I watch. Shows come, some stay for a while, other do not, and those that stay end eventually. It is the nature of the business.
I love CSI: NY, never liked Miami, it’s garbage and Mr. Sunglasses is a joke, everyone I know bar one person prefers NY over Miami but I can see Miami being renewed
One final season for Both,
Friday
8:00 CSI Miami
9:00 CSI New York
10:00 Blue Bloods
Expect a Cross over Finale with them and the Mothership, I think the time for a Theatrical Movie for the CSI’s have long past.
I like NY much better but I think it is more likely to go. The ratings are not as far apart as they look given that NY is on Fridays however and I wouldn’t be shocked to see Miami go or even to see both KEPT for that matter. I’d be more surprised to see both canceled than both kept in fact.
That said, if NY is cxl’d (likely scenario), I’d love to see Gary Sinese moved to Vegas. I think he’d do a much better job than Ted Danson and would breath some new life into Vegas.
@Cody
Friday
8:00 CSI Miami
9:00 CSI New York
10:00 Blue Bloods
Which drama would you have run original episodes on Saturday?
Read the post their not talking about Saturday, I know CBS is considering Mentalist on Friday, but I would like to see it be a filler in between Survivors.
@Alcoholics Anonymous: Now, if I’m RIGHT, we’ll set a date and time for all of you non-believers who mock me, to meet me on the steps of the Federal Courthouse on Center St. in lower Manhattan.
Don’t forget the lip balm. I expect a long line.
NONE OF THEM WILL BE CANCELED!!! Here’s what CBS WILL cancel:
*A Gifted Man
*NYC 22
*Unforgettable
*Rob
Why does everyone here think CSI: NY will be canceled? Of course it will be renewed!
CSI: Miami!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Horatio will be back on season 11!!

@Mon
Miami has a better time slot than NY? I would not warrant having delays almost 70% of the time a very good time slot. Almost all CSI Miami fans like me wish that CSI Miami will be moved to Fridays when they get another season. And how is Miami more expensive than NY?
I think CBS already gave NY a second chance when they renewed them this season. Another one would be a long shot. Miami on the other hand has fairly good ratings inspite of the delays and a poor lead in. They also have a syndication deal with AMC ,which according to Adam Rodriguez, is willing to add some fuel to the production budget.
It will ultimately come down to what makes more sense for CBS business wise. All I can say is that these 2 shows who have given so much to CBS deserve a fond farewell and a good series wrap up. CSI Miami needs another season.
