Reruns of 2BG and M&M are down a tick as well

  • Lee Holt

Loving Bones right now—finally hitting it’s post baby mojo–I like it!!

  • Deb.

GG, in its 5th year, gets the same demo as freshmen shows like Ringer, SC are getting. Very steady so that final season renewal is definitely a safe bet.

And I agree with @A. GG has pretty nice advantages. Freshmen shows however don’t have any advantages so I can see most of them ending for sure. Sorry for the fans, I know it must be a suck-ish feeling.

  • Rachel

Gossip Girl (5th season) is performing the same, as the current CW’s freshman shows.

i don’t understand why this is considered a good thing. a well established show can’t perform better than a new series. the advantage is lost on me.

  • bsp

I enjoyed the ACTUAL Motown stars performing on DWTS last night.

Go dancing!!!!!! only .6 difference from the voice — which should seriously move to tuesdays.

Glee’s whitney houston tribute is tonight!

  • Michael

@Rachel, Gossip Girl is aging, obviously as anyone can tell by the ratings. However, the new freshman shows shouldn’t be performing/struggling this badly during the first year run.

  • Wally Sparks

Smash is a very urban show, and the fast nationals over represent those markets. When the smaller markets are factored in it gets adjusted down is the same reason why rural-appeal shows like DWTS and AI get adjusted up. My theory anyways.

  • Deb.

GG performing the same as the freshmen shows is an advantage.

This also shows that its really the network. Why is a 5 year old show performing the same as freshmen shows? They’re not promoting their network properly….or AT ALL as a matter of fact.

GG also has stable iTunes sales and gets a little more viewers from DVR ratings and it has global success. And by the time it ends, like @A said….networks can pick it up as it exceeds the over 100 episodes limit for syndication.

@Wally…what in the world do you mean that Smash is a “very urban show”?? What makes Smash an urban show vs DWTS or AI…tons of people who are both “rural” as you say and “urban” watch those two shows. Feel like you a stereotyping viewership just a bit. (I don’t watch any of those though I have seen each of them at least once. Just think that was very odd what you said)

  • David Howell

Wally: I reckon it’s overrun. DWTS overruns regularly, AI certainly does, and I’m willing to bet that Smash doesn’t start at 10:00 on the button either. As far as I know the fast nationals are just the ratings for those 30 minutes (which is why live sport overrun renders CBS Sunday fast nationals useless).

You may be right as well, though – the two aren’t mutually exclusive!

Wow, the ratings difference keeps getting smaller week by week between The Voice and DWTS. Maybe NBC is smart to move the season finale so it won’t coincide with DWTS finale.

  • TV Gord

GG’s ratings aside, it is creatively stagnant. It’s still the same few characters moving around the chess board, but nothing significant ever really happens. Everyone is essentially the same place they were in season one. They’re just older.

  • A

    @Tv Gord,
you obviously haven’t even watched a GG episode in your life because that comment has ‘made up’ written all over it. lol

  • Chris

I watched GG since the premiere in 2007. I loved it in its 4th season with the storyline involving Juliet Sharp. The show is pure trash now. The storylines are silly and I hate Penn Badgley in his portrayal as Dan Humphrey. The show deserves its low ratings.

  • Jane

I love Penn Badgley and Dan Humphrey. I think Dan was great last night. Lily on the other hand… but she brought the drama.

  • Haley

God, the CW i such a mess

The Voice finale was never going to coincide with the DWTS finale (The Voice ends two weeks earlier). However, NBC did move The Voice’s finale so that its final hour wouldn’t air against a regular DWTS results show. That has to feel like a punch in the gut.

  • A

@Chris, I agree but the writers are actually doing their jobs. If the right couples ended up together RIGHT NOW (Chuck Blair, Dan Serena) the show wouldn’t be able to continue so they have to explore other couples even if they don’t look good. Im sure the series finale epsiode will be worth the 6 year wait.
