G4 Announces Summer Return of ‘American Ninja Warrior’, Premiere of ‘Top 100 Games’ + E3 & Comic Con Coverage

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — April 26, 2012 – The summer season is officially heating up as G4 announces its diverse summer programming schedule full of exclusive coverage and original programming events that only G4 can deliver. The network has partnered with the biggest names in gaming, the biggest conventions of the summer and the biggest athletic competition the country has seen for an amazing, action-packed summer. Offering a mix of returning programming and brand-new specials, G4 will roll out a wide range of shows starting this May, including:
X-Play Special: Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Alpha (Thursday May 3, 6:30pm PT/ET) – Produced by Ubisoft and Little Minx (a Ridley Scott & Associates company), this short film is deeply connected with the upcoming video game, Ghost Recon Future Soldier. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Alpha takes viewers into the future of war with the US Armed Forces. Inserted deep behind enemy lines, the special-ops unit referred to as ‘Ghosts’ must strike swiftly to eliminate one of the world’s most feared war criminals, and vanish as quickly as they came. But just as the Ghosts look ready to complete their mission, their surgical strike spirals out of control into an epic, hi-tech gunfight to avert a global cataclysm.
X-Play’s Summer Games Preview Week (May 14-16, 6:30pm PT/ET) – The X-Play hosts will present their expert opinions on the most anticipated games of the summer and give fans the inside scoop on what’s hot, what’s not and which titles are worth waiting in line for. With so many upcoming blockbuster titles and different ways to play, video game fans shouldn’t miss a minute of X-Play’s in-depth coverage of the summer’s hottest titles, plus some extra surprises, when the Summer Games Preview Week premieres Monday May 14 at 6:30PM ET/PT only on G4.
American Ninja Warrior (Sundays, beginning May 20, 9pm PT/ET) – “American Ninja Warrior,” the heart-racing and action-packed obstacle course competition series, returns this May to G4 on Sunday, May 20 (9-11 p.m. ET). G4 searched across the country for the ultimate athlete to be crowned the first, true “American Ninja Warrior.” From schoolteachers to firemen to police officers to social workers, this competition gives everyday men and women the chance to transform into fearless acrobatic competitors at the six regional qualifying competitions held throughout the U.S. 100 finalists will have a shot at a $500,000 cash prize and the chance to win the coveted “American Ninja Warrior” title at the national finals in Las Vegas. G4 will air the qualifying rounds for each region while NBC will air the finals for each region on Mondays at 9pm PT/ET.
