    @Brian J
I would personally bench “SVU” until midseason, plug it in wherever the schedule has a hole,

Given that SVU is NBC’s highest rated procedural drama and it’s currently airing twice a week, leaving it off the fall schedule would be a drastic change and is very unlikely.

“It’s not the shows, it’s the annoying and obnoxious fans, and after today Revenge just jumped in the top 5 in my books. Just chill and stop, your making people that never watched it, never ever want to watch it.”

I agree with the first part but what did the Revenge fans say that bothered you? I don’t see any of them being annoying like the Chuck, Community, Nikita, Fringe, and Supernatural fans.

REVENGE has classy fans who only care about the success of their show.

For those posting about revenge gaining new viewers, or something to that effect, how would that even be possible?! I highly doubt a show as serialized as revenge, could gain new viewers easily at this point…..I love the show, but can see it only being a two or three season show….how can they keep drawing out the premise of the show? And for a newbie to turn in at this point, unless they want to commit to catching up on every single episode, that isn’t going to happen. It’s best hope it to stabilize, and stop taking such long breaks!

Any chance that when we get the numbers for Thursday that we also get the NFL and ESPN numbers due to this being the 1st night starting at 8pm EST of the NFL Draft?
This event has one of the largest sporting audiences of the year so it would make sense to note it and show where some of the demo went.

Cable ratings are posted approximately the same time as the broadcast finals.

Thnx ,the ESPN coverage alone could easily pull a 5.3 tonight.

Hopefully ABC will be happy enough with the Revenge ratings to renew the show. Although I’m not sure how I feel about a revamping of the cast. I wished TV shows didn’t do that. It already takes a while to become familiar with the current characters and find your favorites among them. Having to do it over again the next season is not fun. I agree with the poster who said that was what eventually killed Heroes.

I’m sure that NBC wants to renew Betty White’s Off Their Rockers, but it all depends on Betty White who has a busy schedule. They’ll figure everything out though, and in the end it should get renewed. If it was on the renew/cancel index it would be listed as Likely Renewal, right @Bill Gorman?

  • Overdamoon

Yesss! Revenge adjusted UP! Much better.

  • Overdamoon

@Tessa, what are you talking about? They aren’t planning to revamp the Revenge cast. Next year, it will still be Emily, Nolan, Victoria, Daniel and everybody else.

  • Bee

OMG. GO REVENGE! how the heck did it get adjusted up? haha that never happens for 10 PM, esp. ones on ABC. oh well, hooray! so now it ties the thanksgiving low and is no longer a new low. and growing out of apt. 23? awesome! the show’s got a following that i hope continues to grow and grow. such a great show.

  • Tony

@Michael where did you hear there would be a new plot revolving around new characters? I never heard of that. can you post the link?

  • myra

NBC hAs really come a long way! good job!

  • aciel

@Michael the creater said that season 2 is going to open off with Emily’s wedding

  • Ken

Betty White & SVU !!!, even Rock Center made a little rebound.

  • Mike L

Hopefully a second showing of The L.A Complex will help it do better next week. It is a great show. Great actors and i’m sure it will just get better from here.1.0 + adult 18-29 demo next week for this show. :)

I’m not talking about benching all of then; I’m talking about benching some of them, specifically the ones that are older and/or nearing the end of their lifespans. I specifically mention SVU because, while it’s a relatively popular show for NBC, it’s not nearly what it used to be. I see the logic in renewing it, but I think it’s important to build for the future, so I think it should be benched so that NBC has one more slot free for another show in the fall. The same applies to “The Office” and perhaps a few other shows.

As I have said many times, I am not sure what NBC is hoping to accomplish by taking a show like “Parenthood” off the air for months on end and then possibly bringing it back in the fall? Why not use a legitimate hit like “America’s Got Talent” to promote one if its regular scripted shows? Maybe, just maybe, it’ll become more successful as new viewers are exposed to it.

I don’t see what a new time slot is going to accomplish for “SVU.” There might be a case for moving the other shows, but what is “Smash” going to be paired with? What about “Parenthood” or the others?

I can definitely see moving “Grimm,” if the show were part of another night, but at the same time, a more high profile slot might entail higher expectations.

I guess I missed that. Do you have a link to the NBC summer schedule handy?

I guess it’s one thing if “Parenthood” is being cancelled. (Is this a sign that it’s a goner?) If not, I just wonder what the network is thinking. Sure, if the show(s) in front of it is/are do great, that’ll boost its ratings, but would it kill NBC to try to build up the audience over the summer? Without looking at the specific schedule you are referring to, I am trying to think of what the network hopes to accomplish. Given the number of holes NBC has, I’m sure they could have adjusted things a little.

But then, I am in the mindset of picking a few newer shows, like “Parenthood” or “Up All Night,” and then using summer hits to build them up, and then taking older shows off the schedule if need be. I guess Bob Greenblatt, et al think differently.

  • Brian J

I get that benching “SVU” would be a drastic change, but it might also be wise. This is what ABC did with “Alias” some years ago, instead putting a little show called “Desperate Housewives” in its spot instead and bringing it back at midseason, behind its other big hit that year, “Lost.”

Whatever else you can say about it, it’s nearing the end of its life. NBC needs to build for the future if it ever wants to climb out of the hole it’s in. Moreover, “SVU” just isn’t doing as well as it used to do. It’s still a big player for NBC, but it’s not the powerhouse it once was, so it’s kind of silly that NBC would build the schedule around it.

There’s no reason NBC can’t order another season, film it on a normal schedule, and then keep it on deck in case it’s 2012-2013 schedule is even worse than its 2011-2012. There’s bound to be at least one hole that needs to be plugged. If not, if for some reason NBC is in the enviable position of having most if not all of its new shows click, it can be put on Saturdays (with “Harry’s Law,” haha) and lead a ratings resurgence for that night.

Good to see Revenge adjusted up, even though it still lost two tenths from last episode…

I expect the final four season episodes to be epic, so ratings may even climb…
