    Yes for Revenge, getting really interesting

  • toadytoady

    Great news for SVU.Up and up. Its holding its own, even at this point in the season when most shows are lagging, and despite the awful lead in.Demo went up at the half hour.There have been a lot of season lows in other shows this Spring.And this was an episode just with basic cast,no lawyers and no big guest stars. well done to the crew.

    @Joseph
    Thnx ,the ESPN coverage alone could easily pull a 5.3 tonight.

    Right. A 3.0 on ESPN and 3.5 overall is much more realistic.

    @Brian J
    I guess I missed that. Do you have a link to the NBC summer schedule handy?

    Nope, but I can give the basic lineup that’s out so far…

    America’s Got Talent – Mon 8, Tue 9; repeats Tue 8, Sun 9

    American Ninja Warrior – Mon 9

    Law & Order SVU – repeats Mon 10

    Grimm – repeats Tue 10

    Love in the Wild – Thu 9

    Saving Hope – Thu 10

    Dateline – Sun 7

    Nothing for Wednesday or Friday yet; they also have a significant amount of sports (five NHL games; Olympic trials 23 June – 2 July, one hour a night plus the entire final weekend; Olympics 27 July – 12 August, all of primetime).

    Don’t read anything into Parenthood not being on the schedule, it wasn’t last year either.

  • Networkman

    @Brian J, I agree with you. SVU will be going into its 14th season, it doesn’t need any more exposure. Unless the network is concerned about continuing SVU for many more years to come over developing other new dramas. America’s Got Talent gets great ratings during the Summer and could be use to help Parenthood gain more viewers. NBC keeps this show off the air too long. They need to start repeating the episodes.

    Yay, Revenge was adjusted up, and its over 7 million viewers. :D

  • toadytoady

    Awake starts next week in UK. It will be interesting to see how it does there and whether that determines any renewal.
    Smash is not doing well there.

  • Geordiegirl1967

    I like Revenge so this is good news. Not that I was worried. In a year with hardly any new shows being big successes, Revenge and OUAT are the closest things. Renewal should be a lock for both.

    Bizarre that the repeat of LAC on CW got the same demo (well to 0.1 decimal point so we don’t really know) and more viewers. Maybe it will be a slow burner. I heard it was a good show if you like that kind of thing (young, beautiful people angsting, dressing up in expensive clothes and sleeping with each other) and a good fit for the teen soap loving half of CWs audience.

    Best episode of Revenge since November!

    @Ultima:

    “Don’t read anything into Parenthood not being on the schedule, it wasn’t last year either.”

    Good point.

    Still, what a waste. As I keep saying, you’ve got a solid hit that will easily grab ten million viewers in “America’s Got Talent.” If only half of them were to stick around for “Parenthood,” you’d get a lot of new eyeballs to a great show that the network itself owns. After a summer of new exposure, would it surprise anyone to see it increase in the fall?

    I mean, this is basically what they are doing with “Grimm,” right? As they should be, of course. But instead of the umpteenth “SVU” rerun, give another show a shot.

    Instead, we’ll get six or seven months of the show being off the air, probably with little to no promotion. It’d be one thing if the network planned to run it on Bravo or USA or some other network, but I haven’t heard anything like it. Pfft, the short-sightedness is just revolting.

    @Networkman:

    Nice to see I am not alone here.

    To be sure, I have nothing against “SVU.” I just think it’s just a waste to give a prime slot to a show that is (a) nearing the end of its life and (b) available through many other means.

    I’ve only recently started to get (re)accustomed to “Parenthood,” but man oh man, The New Yorker is right to sing its praises. It’s just awesome, almost unique because it’s not a cop show or something similar. In fact, what other family dramas are the air now? NBC has a gem on its hands and is bleeding it dry.

    I only hope that it comes back, surrounded by other successful shows, and surprises the network with how well it does in the fall.

    @Michael

    this article is from sep.2011…

    in a more recent interview the creator mike kelley himself said:

    “(the) story ultimately ends, however many seasons down the road, with Victoria and Emily standing across from each other, and all the bodies between them, and they forgive each other. So that’s sort of where we’re headed, eventually, but it’s going to take a long time to learn that lesson, if indeed she does learn.”

    SVU is hardly a rockin show – it’s ratings have been dismal this year averaging 1.6 Sad. It’s consistently 3rd in its timeslot and barely beat a re-run of CSI this week. It’s a dying show and if NBC was wise they would stop putting some much money and time into it and start developing some new shows. All of the episodes this year feel like they’ve been done 10X before. Nothing is fresh and compelling about it anymore. Let it go to USA and start pushing for something new. Parenthood at least feels fresh.

    The B in Apt. 23 is so disappointing! It is done.

  • mmogaddict

    Out of interest, Revenge is the highest scripted show on Australian TV and is pulling in around 1.2~1.5 million.
