Rachel Maddow On Conservative Media Model: “Everybody Else Is Out To Get You”
At a Commonwealth Club event in April, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow discussed why conservative media outlets are so much more successful than its liberal competitors.
Unlike her conservative competitors, Maddow explains, “I try not to imagine my audience being people who already agree with me. I, in fact, try to imagine a Republican audience.”
Ah! That explains why some people think she comes off as smug. Because she’s imagining us all to be Republicans! But, no, really, Maddow is a thoughtful liberal. And her thoughts on why conservative media outlets are so successful is interesting:
“I think the conservative media model involves this one really important step that liberals don’t use, which is, ‘listen to me, I am the light and the truth and the way, you have to believe what I say and everybody else is out to get you and you can’t listen to anybody else, don’t change the channel, they’re trying to kill you.’ Liberals don’t say that. Conservatives tell their audience that.”
Maddow definitely doesn’t use the “looking out for you” tone of, say, Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck, and Sean Hannity, but she overlooks the combative, “they’re all wrong” rhetoric occasionally employed by her liberal counterparts like Ed Schultz.
There’s definitely an element of “you can only trust us” in the conservative media, but here’s a possible reason why: for half-a-century, conservative audiences had no choice but to watch/listen to media outlets that presented the news in a generally liberal fashion. The conservative media phenomenon is most likely a reaction to that.
Maddow continued to say, “that sense of an embattled community that needs to protect itself from someone who is trying to victimize them is not part of a way liberals talk in the media.”
Really? You mean left-leaning media outlets don’t often talk about how Fox News misleads? And how the network allegedly wages a war on this, and a war on that?

So did Coffe Steve but she sprung a leak!
pffffffffffffffffffffffffft all around the room!
typical of an elite liberal…doesnt think we can see both the conservative view and the liberal one and actually understand that for the most part based on history and common sense that conservative talk shows are more of a reality that makes sense to us..i do not take anyones spin for granted but when held up to the principles of economics, lessons of history, human motivation, the conservative answers make more sense…

It makes sense now, I could never understand what the refrain was about in that 1980s song “Harden My Heart” by Quarter Flash:
“I’m gonna harden my heart, swallow my tears, and turn as leaky you could hear…”

Source Says Documents Reveal “Something Big Is About to Happen” With Apple
Posted by Michael Nace on Wednesday May 2, 2012 Under Apple Rumors, iPhone 5 Rumor
An administrative assistant at a top U.S. brokerage firm that handles Intel and Apple’s ocean/air accounts has informed the iPhone 5 News Blog that “something big is about to happen.” The source provided me with the address and telephone number of where she works, and I was able to call and verify her employment at the brokerage firm.
“Recently my team and I have been getting A LOT of protocol from Apple lately, and I can tell you there is something big getting ready to happen. Whether or not it’s the iPhone I’m not at liberty to say, but the paperwork has definately beefed up, and I’m positive it’s not MacBooks or iPads. Nothing has been flown out, but they are definately getting everything in order for customs and the FCC, I can tell you that.”

Speaking of voices in our heads?
The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas!
I think the vet should be able to use what he learned and the tools he was given fighting for our country against the homeowners association!!!!!!!!
Homeowner’s Association Sues Returning Army Vet Over Backyard Swing Set
MINEOLA, Texas (CBS Houston) — A homeowner’s association is suing a returning Army veteran for having a swing set for his kids in his backyard.
The Spring Lake Homeowner’s Association has filed a lawsuit against Bill Fry, an Army National Guard captain who just recently returned from Afghanistan after serving overseas for a year, and his wife, Candi Fry, for not getting approval to put up the swing set.
“The way the homeowner’s association has treated us and portrayed us to our neighbors, it has caused a fairly sizable rift,” Capt. Fry told WFAA-TV.
Candi Fry says they got permission to build the $1,200 swing set for their children in their backyard last year, but the homeowner’s association claims that is not true.
“They’re in the wrong only because they declined to make the proper application and submit the drawings,” homeowner’s association chairman Harold Lemmon told KLTV.
The lawsuit states that the swing set is “not in harmony with the design and location in relation to surrounding structures and topography,” according to The Mineola Monitor.
Coffee Steve asked: “Which one of her personalities did you like the most?”
Do you mean of my composite ex-girlfriend? Any of the male ones was helpful with fixing the car and other stuff.

I just came across this story:
Illegal Immigrants Getting Bigger Tax Refunds
INDIANAPOLIS) – Millions of illegal immigrants are getting a bigger tax refund than you.
Bob Segall, of WTHI reports finding a massive tax loophole that provides billions of dollars in tax credits to undocumented workers and, in many cases, people who have never stepped foot in the United States. And you are paying for it.

Operation Fast and Furious
In addition to Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry’s death & 200 Mexican citizens murders linked to Fast & Furious guns…. there’s this.
Now another murder connected to Operation Fast and Furious has surfaced. According to a congressional report released, Mario González Rodríguez, brother of the state attorney general of Chihuahua at the time, was also murdered by guns traced back to Operation Fast and Furious. The U.S. withheld this information from Mexican authorities for eight months.
Then, Mexican federal authorities, following a shootout with drug cartel suspects, seized 16 weapons and arrested eight men in connection with Mario González Rodríguez’s murder.
Mexican officials submitted information about the weapons to the ATF’s e-trace system, and the ATF traced two AK-47s to Operation Fast and Furious.

Dem Gov of WV Won’t Back Obama
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin (D-WV) has announced that he will not endorse Barack Obama for re-election, stating, “[the president] has apparently made it his mission to drive the backbone of West Virginia’s economy, coal and the energy industry, out of business.”

I used to tune into CNN all the time because of the bias of the other two options. Perhaps if they went back to presenting both sides they would do much better, but they are trying to emulate and mold themselves part ABC, part MSNBC and also be credible as a world news outlet. People like the smirking Gloria Berger and Piers Morgan and the bubble head Erin are unwatchable. Go back to center, CNN. Leave the opinion journalism to “Tingles” and Hannity. Leave the hate to the Reverend and the pure monotonous non-stop babble to Rachel Mad-Cow. Wolf Blitzer is a better journalist than they let him to be on his show.
I hear the Obama’s have made a mess out of the White House. Chewed up chicken wings have been found behind a chair and under a bed.
The reason why CNN ratings are so low is simple: TOO MANY COMMERCIALS! They should be called Commercial Nauseum Network.
