5/3 Update: The Vampire Diaries, 90210 & Supernatural have all been renewed.
-
While I still think that The Secret Circle has a better chance at renewal than Nikita and Hart Of Dixie, after two consecutive 0.5 adults 18-49 ratings I can no longer consider it "likely to be renewed" and it's now down to a "toss up" for renewal or cancellation.
And while The L.A. Complex may have a long and happy life in Canada, after its six episodes run on the CW this spring, you'll never see it on The CW again because of its dreadful ratings. I've also moved Ringer to "certain cancellation". As now the lowest rated CW show on any night (save TLAC), it's done.
This is the last "regular" CW Renew/Cancel Index post of the 2011-12 season. Next week Robert and I combine for our annual "Oddsmakers" final predictions for the season.

Notes:
-
- certain to be cancelled by May, 2012 -
- more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2012 -
- toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2012 -
- more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2012 -
- certain to be renewed by May, 2012
The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Possible The CW Schedule for 2012-2013
Monday
8-9p: Gossip Girl
9-10p: The Carrie Diaries
There’s a good chance that Gossip Girl will not see another season, but I can’t see The CW canning one of its signature series without giving it the obligatory final season, so I think it’s coming back. Since The Carrie Diaries is also a Josh Schwartz produced show, and has similar sensibilities as GG, I can see the two being paired up.
Tuesday
8-9p: 90210
9-10p: Hart of Dixie
90210 is probably one of the few stable CW shows, so I don’t see it moving any time soon. Hart of Dixie’s fate is also up for debate, but I can see it getting renewed over Nikita since it’s more on brand. It spent its first season following up Gossip Girl, so putting it after 90210 doesn’t seem too far-fetched.
Wednesday
8-9p: The Secret Circle
9-10p: America’s Next Top Model
Wednesday could be the wonkiest night because I don’t see Top Model going anywhere, but there’s nothing that really goes with it. I think that The Secret Circle will get another season, but it will not get the cushy post-VD spot, and Wednesdays seems like the only landing spot.
Thursday
8-9p: The Vampire Diaries
9-10p: The Selection
The Vampire Diaries is still The CW’s most successful show, so it will keep holding down the fort on Thursday nights. Since The Secret Circle wasn’t as popular as the network probably would’ve liked, I can see them giving a new show a shot at riding The Vampire Diaries’ coattails. The Selection’s trying to capitalize on all of the Hunger Games buzz, making it the clear choice.
Friday
8-9p: Arrow
9-10p: Supernatural
The Smallville/Supernatural combo was solid for The CW, so you might as well team up the veteran SPN with the newest DC Comics adaptation.
Mid-Season: Beauty & the Beast, First Cut

This website predicts renewals for both HOD and TSC and a cancellation for GG
As much as GG should probably be canceled, I’d say there’s a 99% chance of it coming back. For a shortened season, of course, but it will still be on the 2012-2013 schedule. Maybe they could place it on Tuesdays at 9 pm since everyone says that’s another death slot.
I agree with @Kate there is 99.99% chance of GG being back. If it didn’t get an early renewal it was probably because they haven’t hired a new showrunner yet. There is no way in hell it goes without a “final” season unless for some reason negotiations go terribly wrong.
And there’s also a 99.99% chance of Arrow NOT being on Friday. It’s the most buzzed, high profile pilot they will not waste it on the Friday Death Slot. I can maybe see Cult on Friday, but not Arrow.
Kate, I felt sure GG would come back too but with total viewers under a million a few times, no new show runner announced yet, no early renwal I’m only 90% sure now where I was z100% sure before.Though OTH wasn’t a early renwal either when they announced its final season, but then they weren’t looking for a new show runner. Though last night a GG writer tweeted a pic of a piece of paper saying GG Season Six on it,so maybe it’s renewed.Though no official word fro CW yet about it.
The CW should cancel Nikita and The Secret Circle and keep Ringer and Hart of Dixie!
How many 0.4′s did Ringer and Nikita get?
This my prediction!
RENEWED.
1. The Vampire Diaries
2. Supernatural
3. 90210
4. Hart of Dixie
5. The Secret Circle
6. Gossip Girl
7. America’s Next Top Model
CANCELLED/ENDED.
1. Ringer
2. Nikita
3. Remoldeled
4. H8Ter
5. The L.A Complex
5. One Tree Hill
I wouldn’t say LA Complex is 100% dead. Yes it is their lowest performer, but I would love to know how much the CW pays per episode for the rights. If cheap enough and the CW could profit off of it even if it hits .3s or .4s , they should order more episodes, give it a mid to late summer launch and it could be a decent performer during repeat time. It could grow into a modest performer and being so cheap it’s a risk that could REALLY pay off in the end.
and again this all depends on how much the CW pays for it per episode, I’m thinking – DIRT CHEAP/REALITY CHEAP.
im really excited for the 4 new scripts!!! one of them is the selection it mind sound girly coming from a guy like me but i truly loved the book and its like a dream come true because now i get to see it in real life instead of imagining it
more info about the other scripts i think they are : beauty and the beast/arrow/the carries diaries
check them out on the imdb and see the cast i hope u guys like it… fyi alaric from the vampire diaries is one of the main characters of one new script so enjoy o i think theres another one called “cult”
Gummer’s fall pilot, “First Cut,” is about a young doctor in Denver who finds that life in the hospital is no different than life in high school.
“It doesn’t pander to anyone,” she says with some relief. “It’s pretty smart, a solid alternative to the other girls’ shows. It gives [viewers] another option in case they don’t want to watch vampires. In case they want to do their homework and become surgeons.”
