Recipe for Touch being a "toss up" for renewal or cancellation:
- 1 part ratings that have fallen in all but one week of its run
- 1 part Fringe renewal, removing an hour from the 2012-13 schedule for 13 episodes
Mix and wait for Fan Excuse Bingo play to begin!
Those who'll jump to play the "Fox can't cancel all their rookie dramas" square, may wish to refresh their memory about what happened last season.
This is the last "regular" Fox Renew/Cancel Index post of the 2011-12 season. Next week Robert and I combine for our annual "Oddsmakers" final predictions for the season.

- certain to be cancelled by May, 2012 -
- more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2012 -
- toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2012 -
- more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2012 -
- certain to be renewed by May, 2012
The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

@tvfreak
I know right, i’m sure i’m a jinx too (watch/watched, Alcatraz, Terra Nova, Touch, Ringer, Pan Am, The River and Charlie’s Angels, all of which are cancelled, certain to be cancelled or probably will be cancelled). Also I watch The Secret Circlem Smash and Happy Endings which both are falling fast. The only shows I have started to watch this season that are succesful are Grimm, 2 Broke Girls, New Girl and Revenge
Aggghhhh
Fringe renewed
Still so happy to see that
I will be more surprised to see Touch canceled than renewed. It’s really Fox’s best drama in a bad year. Like NBC, Fox seems to be having trouble finding a good drama (albeit it’s situation isn’t nearly as bad). Fox does need to be careful though, or it could end up in the same situation. Even New Girl appears to be on a decline.
I pick Jim Caviezel of POI over Touch anytime!
Canceling out Psychic’s invalid vote from earlier since no one has voted since then… here is my vote….
FRINGE – 46 (-3)
RAISING HOPE – 34 (+2)
ALCATRAZ – 36 (+3)
TOUCH – 36 (-2)
Monday just seems like a bad time slot for whatever they put there. Lie to Me, Chicago Code, Lonestar, House , Bones, Terra Nova , Alcatraz and now Touch? None of them had done that well on Mondays
So happy to see Fringe renewed. I wonder if Fox regrets canceling Terra Nova.
fringe sucks, its a shame that they cancel all the good shows and renew all the crap shows
“They cancel all the good shows”
Wrong, fringe has been renewed, (Good)
Terra Nova has been cancelled (Crap)
@CrimTV
I also watched all the episodes of Charlie’s Angels and Terra Nova. What can I say, Rachael Taylor and Minka Kelly are hot; Cmdr. Taylor & Lt. Washington are badasses

Thanks for updating your table
@tvfreak
Unless you didn’t catch it, Fringe and Raising Hope are both renewed.
Touch’s continuing slide in the ratings pretty much consign it to cancellation.
Reilly stated Terra Nova made Fox money at the same event he said Fringe lost Fox money.
Of course Terra Nova can be uncancelled and Fringe cancelled. After the week Rupert Murdoch has had, he’ll be looking to show people he’s firmly in control of his businesses and Reilly has made a really bad commercial decision renewing Fringe and back in the day, was exactly the sort of action that got its perpetrator fired.
Cancelled: Terra Nova
Certain cancellation: Alcatraz
Likely cancellation: The Finder
Toss-up: Touch
Not a good year for FOX.
FOX will certainly launch 1 new drama in the fall probably the Kevin Williamson project on Mondays. That night needs a major shakeup for them.
Can you say, Lone Star?
I will just be glad when upfronts come and go so I will know for sure if Bones is completely doomed.
@tscchope
In the grand scheme of things, looking back. Terra Novas numbers are actually GOOD for a monday.
Everything is dropping viewers like crazy on Monday now.
Terra Novas finale numbers for example are better than the current Bones and House numbers.
@Sarah
Bones is renewed. These numbers don’t matter much.
RENEW The Finder!!!!
@Kenny
Fox doesn’t want that stinker.
@The End
I know. I’m talking about what night it will be on.
