Note: Due to the presidential address, the source data was a little wonky for our regular format so the address itself on CNN and MSNBC is not included in the table below. On CNN the address coverage ran with a duration of 11 minutes and averaged 727,000 viewers and 190,000 viewers adults 25-54. On MSNBC the address coverage was 18 minutes and averaged 930,000 viewers and 165,00 adults 25-54.

I wish ‘Tired of it’ was still here to comment on this story.
The Department of Energy has successfully completed an unprecedented test of harvesting the vast storehouse on Alaska’s North Slope of methane hydrate, essentially natural gas locked in ice crystals under the permafrost

@Coffee Steve
You won’t hear any of this in the U.S. my father sent it to me. Thank god he moved out of the Green Village into another compound a couple of weeks ago.
As many as six people were killed in a Taliban attack on a compound for foreigners in east Kabul Wednesday in retaliation for the visit of the US President to Afghanistan on Tuesday night.
At least four Afghan civilians, including a child, died inside their burning car outside the compound and a Nepalese security guard was among the dead, while as many as ten Afghan school students were among the 17 wounded, officials said.
The incident happened around 6:15am, less than two hours after US President Barack Obama left Afghanistan after making an unannounced visit to sign a long-term agreement with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement saying they launched the attack “as a reaction to Obama’s surprise visit to Afghanistan”.
The attack ended after 10:15am when the fourth and final attacker blew himself up in an unoccupied building within the compound.
The first attacker died when he detonated the explosives carried in his car near the gate of the compound. The second bomber appears to have blown himself up inside the camp, and the third was gunned down by security guards, Kabul deputy police chief Daoud Amin told TOLOnews.
At least four explosions were heard in the area, according to local residents.
The compound, known as the “Green Village”, is used by international organisations for housing foreigners, including those working with the United Nations.
Obama made a quick overnight visit to Afghanistan where he signed a long-term agreement with Afghan President Hamid Karzai on the one-year anniversary of former al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden’s death.
The agreement cements 10 years of US assistance to Afghanistan after Nato combat troops leave in 2014.
@usnretiredx2
I’m glad your Dad is OK, Afghanistan will always be a mess.
The reporter that works for a Station in Cincinnati and just returned from Israel I spoke to you about joined us for breakfast this morning, he’s in to watch the derby, and he is a former Delta Force Commander. I looked him straight in the eyes and asked him if there would be a conflict there before the election?, he just simply said, “Read the writing on the wall Steve, they aren’t gearing up to throw a party” “Iran isn’t just threatening Israel, they are threatening the entire Middle-East”
We also know we have a few extra ships over there and now fighter Jets and stealth’s there too. He also said the thing that had him worried the most is the almost total shutdown of people talking about it, and you and I both know where that one leads.
Now some quick Election talk, the DNC guys, (at this point) thinks West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina are a lost cause. The RNC guys believe Michigan will go for the Dems. Ohio slightly leaning left, and Florida is leaning GOP, but it’s to close at this time. One word of caution, soon there will be ad’s running in every coal producing State showing the new EPA regulations and the attack on Coal. All parties this morning said that could affect the election big-time.
@d.d.
I do think this is more than a human rights story . Our State Department has made some sloppy errors.
I fully agree.
On Hannity, Michelle Malkin Tears Into Juan Williams’ Comparing Occupy Violence To Tea Party ‘Racism’

Sean Hannity brought in Michelle Malkin and Juan Williams to discuss the Occupy movement on Wednesday night. As Hannity and Malkin criticized the movement’s violence, Williams defended it, pointing to Tea Party racism — an assertion that sent the segment spiraling into a fiery clash with Malkin.
The problem, Hannity said, is that President Obama and Nancy Pelosi “praised the movement at the time,” even “though from the very beginning, we saw a rape, protective tent being set up for women in New York. We saw violence in a number of these movements.”
Williams said, “I don’t think they’re praising what you think they’re praising, Sean.” There hasn’t been much support for people who are “psychiatric cases,” he said. Hannity then played a clip of Obama saying the movement “expresses the frustrations of the American people” and Pelosi saying, “God bless them for their spontaneity. [...] It’s young. It’s spontaneous. It’s focused. And it’s going to be effective.”
Immediately, Malkin tore into Pelosi’s assertion and criticized what the movement has been:
Let me correct Nancy Pelosi, that there is nothing spontaneous about this organized chaos. These occupiers, and the Democrats behind them, can no more disown the violent agitators than they can disown the stench that comes from these filthy encampments. From day one, from its inception, the movement has intended to create chaos. They have openly advocated smashing the state, wreaking havoc on our economy and undermining the rule of law.
Williams responded by bringing up the Tea Party movement. If I was on this show, he started, “and I said the racism in some parts of the Tea Party, or what about the Tea Party person—” before he was cut off by the question, “What racism?”
“Do not slander,” Malkin said firmly, as Williams went on to mention “jokes about monkeys and the president.” Malkin staunchly pressed, “Who? Name me one Tea Party person who said that.”

Sharyl Attkisson at CBS News reports that Republicans on the House Oversight Committee will take the first formal step toward contempt proceedings against Attorney General Eric Holder over Operation Fast and Furious.
The draft consists of a briefing paper and 48 pages that will be distributed to Democrats and Republicans.
According to the documents the Department of Justice has given “false denials, given answers intended to misdirect investigators, sought to intimidate witnesses, unlawfully withheld subpoenaed documents, and waited to be confronted with indisputable evidence before acknowledging uncomfortable facts.”
@Ratboy

For Juan Williams to say what he did really discredited him! He was never AS wacko as the rest of them but with comments like he made they should be painting an office for him over at MSNBC
@Ratboy
For Juan Williams to say what he did really discredited him!
He was defending the indefensible, and when you don’t have a legit point, you fabricate one.
I like Juan, but I agree, this time he went across the line of reality, but he’s allowed a few I guess.
Coffee Dude, I just pulled my April statement for my 401k. I LOST money last month! As good as the market seems, it still aint good!
