Update: 12:35p PT May 3: Now officially official. 90210 and The Vampire Diaries have been renewed as well.

Update 12:20p PT May 3: looks like the timing of telling the cast and crew was...not perfect. Tweets have been pulled down etc., but as far as I'm concerned telling the cast and crew the show is renewed *is* an official confirmation, just not an official announcement. I'd expect some sort of official announcement shortly.

Some noise on Twitter from folks working at the show that Supernatural has been renewed and our friends at Zap2it have confirmed it's true. Supernatural has been renewed for an 8th season. No surprise to anyone following the CW's Renew/Cancel Index.

    @Robert: Are we expecting a presser for this (and possibly other renewals) announcement today?

  • John A

    Surely its final season. 0.7 isnt that great and it will drop to 0.5 next season.

  • a p garcia

    Worse kept secret on the CW

  • SmG

    Just after that interview with Mark P. where he said he and his wife are huge fans of TVD and SPN :)

  • KS

    @John A

    Then they gotta cancel all the shows except TVD on CW. Because whatever show they renew, that would fall even below 0.5 next season.

  • Pamela

    Cool News !! And more on Sam and Dean and sticking with the basics. Also more Bobby and no more Cas.. Can’t stand him !!

  • ERICinHB

    Awsome, Supernatural and CHUCK were the best things on TV this season, now that CHUCK is gone at lease ill have a show to look forward to in the fall.

  • Aerilyn

    TVD and 9O21O also officially picked up!

    Gah, I’m hoping they renew TSC. Hoping, hoping, hoping!

    @TVGuide “It’s official! Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and 90210 renewed.”

  • Fabio

    I told you tools this was FACT months ago…and yet, week after week, the whiners would cry, “Please don’t cancel SN.” Kids, get a grip and understand this fact: Supernatural is a CORNERSTONE piece of the CW. They are not cancelling the show, period. It will end only when the actors say they’re ready to move on. ‘kay? Happy? Geesh.

    Hardly surprising, but still good news! Hopefully the official press release comes out soon just to double confirm, where the heck’s all the hate for Castiel coming from all of a sudden?! In any event the only two shows I watch from the CW (UK viwer) are SPN and NIKITA which I hope is renewed too.

  • LJ

    and so the Renewal Squirrel gathers another nut for its winter stash. Great news!

  • Freyja

    @Fabio-

    Great, although expected, news!

  • SNfan

    Most of us already knew there WAS going to be an 8th season, no question about it :D. Glad they have announced it tho :D.

  • DonnaT

    This thread is on page 3 now and I’m sure you’ve noticed that the official renewal announcement was released with TVD, SPN and 90210 renewed. I’m sorry if this like the 20th comment on three shows being early renewed :).

  • JJJ

    @KS would you cut out the lame anti-Cas crap–this is a ratings site NOT a SPN forum. No wonder some think SPN fans are crazy. And by the way Cas is great. You can debate this crap on a SPN forum. Jeesh.
