Update: 12:35p PT May 3: Now officially official. 90210 and The Vampire Diaries have been renewed as well.

Update 12:20p PT May 3: looks like the timing of telling the cast and crew was...not perfect. Tweets have been pulled down etc., but as far as I'm concerned telling the cast and crew the show is renewed *is* an official confirmation, just not an official announcement. I'd expect some sort of official announcement shortly.

Some noise on Twitter from folks working at the show that Supernatural has been renewed and our friends at Zap2it have confirmed it's true. Supernatural has been renewed for an 8th season. No surprise to anyone following the CW's Renew/Cancel Index.

SPN – Yippee!!!! Although it was expected, it’s wonderful to see it made official. :)

  • Lyla

No surprise for SPN, but I’m glad they gave an early renewal notice. The best news ever is that Jeremy Carver is at the helm now. Love the show, but not the direction its taken the past two years. Now I’m all excited again.

Yaaaayyy! to the show being renewed. Even more Yay for Jeremy Carver being the new showrunner. I hope the folks who prematurely tweeted don’t get punished for it.

Figured we’d see some sour grapes over the renewal. Denial is a funny thing.

    Good sneak in, JJJ. ;-)

@JJA: So it’s OK for you to comment that Season 7 is awful, in your opinion, but not OK for us to comment that Castiel is awful in our opinion? That doesn’t seem fair. I disagree with your contention (as you may disagree with mine – free will, baby) about Season 7. Season 6 with Emasculated Dean and Soul-less Sam was awful, imo. Season 7 was good – it killed off (although it didn’t take) the trench coat wearing, dreadful character, gave a great ep to and then brought back beloved Bobby, and at least made an attempt at brotherly moments (the only reason I’m still watching this show). Let’s see what happens on Friday. Popular new movie and the trench coat returns. Last time, that fact combination got us a series low.

Hi, Evil, Sam-hating Paula. Haven’t heard from you in awhile. Actually I’m finding it hard to attribute your posts to her posts. You seem really nice and she is the most dreadful thing going down. Example: Paula: Hi, I’m so smart; let me illustrate with an example of my esoteric genius. Hate Sam. Hate Sam. Comment: Well, of course, we hate Sam. You are so smart, and we are so smart because we agree with you. Comment: of course we agree with you, and we are so smart, and you are so smart, and we are so smart, and let’s just be smart together, hating Sam and worshiping Dean (he is Christ after all). Comment: I like Sam. Comment: AHHHHHH Kill it; Maim it; Rip it to shreds. That really happened to me on your site. Don’t even defend it.

  • DonnaT

@ RS, did I miss a “Paula” comment? LOLOLOL! Because you’re absolutely right about that entire blog’s “opinion” of Sam.

  • Justin121

Cas is awful and he’s the reason the show went downhill since s4.

  • JJJ

Cas is great IMO but why are SPN fanboys and girls acting nutty on a ratings site and debating SPN characters. There are a ton of SPN sites for that nonsense.

  • Debsafan

That’s good news for it’s fans. I hope to hear good news about Ringer being renewed.

It is amazing what pablum passes for entertainment these days. Supernatural is a lousy show with lousy acting. Last night’s episode (May 4) was really bad.

And, of course, thats why you watch it? Because it’s a lousy show with lousy acting?
