Richard, I saw GH was up in the 18-49 demo. Great news. I’ m sorry you, a long-time fan, are not enjoying it.:-(
For you; not the show, ratings, or any reason than I feel for you. I know you’ve said you don’t miss it, and I believe you. But, you are clearly passionate on the subject of GH, and as a devoted soap fan myself, I know it stinks when you feel disconnected from “your” show.

If it at all piques your interest, Thursday’s show was completely Sonny, Jason and Sam-free! There has definitely been much better “balance” to the show lately Re: featured storylines and character screen time.

I was a daily viewer forever, until a few years ago, when it became The Sonny Show. I felt at that time there were hardly any characters, let alone couples, I felt any connection to. No one worth “rooting” for. I now enjoy it everyday, and it is not even because of the OLTL crossover characters. If you have the time, I challenge you to tune back in a few times per week, with an open mind. I hope you will be drawn in. If you would like to challenge me to give a show a try in return, I’m open to it. A little “bet” among friends, so to speak. Give it some thought and let me know.

Richard, I know of a show you like I don’t watch; The Client List. I would consider it if you’re up for the challenge.

    Hey Mom,

I sort of have already begun to take the challenge. Friday night for some reason we have a free preview of SoapNet for the weekend. Direct was out installing for some of our neighbors, and I think they must have clicked something they weren’t supposed to as we have quite a few channels that are not supposed to be in the current package we have.

Anway I was flipping through last night before bed, and GH’s Friday episode was on. I stopped and thought I would give it a chance. But I guess I must have been tired. As the next thing I knew was waking up at 1:00 a.m. still in my recliner. GH had gone off.

It doesn’t have to be a challenge. I will try to give GH a chance for you. I will let you know how it turns out. If they don’t figure out what they have done, I may try to catch the GH marathon on SoapNet this weekend. If not I will try to watch Monday’s show. Tuesday I may be having some dental surgery — so not sure I will be alert to watch it on Tuesday.

Oh MBMom, I forget the name now but did you see that ABC did pick up one of those soaps it talked about. With it next season ABC will have 3 primetime soaps in it’s schedule — Revenge, Once Upon a Time, and this new one.

GCB didn’t make it and got cancelled. I tried both Revenge and Once Upon a Time but hated both. I doubt I will even give the new one this fall a chance.

I have not been impressed with a primetime network soap opera since Dirty Sexy Money and The Playboy Club. And ABC and NBC got rid of both before you got to find out how they would end. I really wanted to know who did the killing on The Playboy Club.

I am so frustrated with primetime programming on the networks. Next year I am not even going to give any of the new shows a chance. Everyone I liked this year got cancelled. I am going to stick with cable. They seem to give their shows more of a chance.

The only primetime soap in recent years that got cancelled on cable before it’s gime was Dirt. I loved that show but again it didn’t make it.

Really looking forward to the Dallas reboot though. TNT has really became a network to be reckoned with for entertaining programming and series. I think they will do Dallas well.

And TV Land has a new primetime soap coming too.

Richard, I am looking forward to Dallas too. I have a couple Primetime shows I try never to miss one is The Finder. Good show but it is on the cancelation list. Missed it last night. Might have been the last episode but my Husband and I were laying floor in our living room and had to disconnect the Tv. Willo have to find it online.
MBMom, I agree GH is good but not because of the OLTL characters coming on. Its Like, Anna, Heather, Mac. Patrick,Tracy and others that I have enjoyed the most. Hope they show more of them in the future.

  • Melanie

I am so excited for Dallas also! I see the promos and keep getting so excited. It premiers June 13th at 9pm, can’t wait! Glad that GH did go up this week in viewers. I did watch a couple of episodes this past week and they were ok. Still wish there was more balance though. Maybe this summer things will start to even out more. I don’t mind the OLTL characters being on since I was a fan of the show, I just hope RC doesn’t focus more on his OLTL pets and leave some of the other GH’ers in the dust.

  • Richard

Melanie, I would just love to look in the spoilers and see story stuff with Anna’s name, or Patrick’s name, — someone besides Sonny, Sam, Jason or those characters I don’t know who they are.

The only thing I have seen in the spoilers at all that even made me smile was a mention of an interaction between Monica and Tracy discussing ELQ. But it didn’t sound like a story — just interaction.

But then I read this spoiler about Sonny’s daughter returning and I have no idea who these 2 women are but the spoiler said she was returning and that her and Starr were going to be the new Dorian and Vicki.

I think Vicki was the lady you guys mentioned as having DID. Who the hell is Dorian? And does that mean that Starr or Kristina are going to have DID too?

So anyone my excitement over reading the spoiler about Monica Tracy was greatly diminished by that spoiler as it means nothing to me.

  • Melanie

Dorian and Vicki were frenimies on OLTL that had a very long history given their characters were on the show for over 30 years. Dorian was married to Vicky’s dad at one time and was mayor of the town. They had a very interesting relationship that I enjoyed watching on OLTL. Sometimes they got along in a crisis and sometimes they were at each other’s throats. One of Vicky’s alters Nicki, locked Dorian in a padded room in the basement! Don’t see how Kristina and Starr would EVER compare to that. Look like RC is trying VERY hard to keep those OLTL s/l’s going on GH. Starr is Vicky’s niece (Vicky is Todd’s half sister and he is Starr’s dad) but her daughter Jessica was the only one with the DID trait. Too bad the Q’s aren’t on enough. Any scenes now are just filler material and I love seeing Monica and Tracy spar. Wish they would show more of ELQ also, but majority of their conversation always includes Jason becoming a mobster for the millionth time, arrgh!
