Big Bang Theory repeats leading into Cougar Town originals on TBS? Penny can!

Deadline reports that TBS is in preliminary conversations about saving Cougar Town should ABC cancel it. We've still got Cougar Town on the bubble, and I'd be at least a little bit more surprised to see TBS pick it up than ABC.  We won't have to wait long to know its fate on ABC -- ABC announces its schedule on May 15.

tbs should save NIKITA if its cancelled!!!

  • John A

    Why would TBS want it?

  • AlcoholicsAnonymous

Might as well. TBS is becoming the Tyler Perry Network.

  • Ricky

I dreamed that Cougar Town was going to get renewed… it is going to happen!

I posted this on March 20 (TVbythenumbers deleted this post because it couldn’t handle the truth and also had computer problems.)

“This is a numbers game. If Cougar Town is the 7th sitcom ranked and renewed by ABC, how many pilots could you foresee being picked up? You are incorrect that only syndication can save Cougar Town from being canceled now. Only a cable network picking it up for a fourth season can save it now. It is getting Hope & Faith and Less Than Perfect treatment now. Cougar Town’s ABC days are over.”

    Please, do it!

  • Person of Interest

please save it and save nikita if u can 2.

Best comedy on TV, it will be renewed, no doubt. Don’t worry.

    Save ‘CSI: NY’ Please !

I like Cougar Town and would like to see it still anywhere it plays. Changing it’s time slot is what hurt that show, it was fine on Wednesdays after Modern family.

Cougar Town will have 61 episodes. If TBS picks it up it only needs about 20 more eps to make it to syndication. That’s all it needs and than once its in syndication, ABC studios makes money so ABC makes money. ABC already has a lot of returning comedies (none of which have been officially renewed but all have a good shot of returning) Modern Family, The Middle, Happy Endings, Suburgatory, Last Man Standing, and Apartment 23 so Cougar Town being cancelled seems likely.

    No it stinx.

I see a Scrubs/Better Off Ted Winter burn-off for Cougar Town and Happy Endings.

NBC could pair it with Community.

    @common anomaly

And who says ABC won’t cancel some other, better rated shows instead of CT?

  • juan

Yes Please TBS, I would start watching TBS because of this. I would be so happy

TBS wouldn’t rescue a show like Nikita. There known for there comedies but TNT a sister network could step in & save a low rated show the way they picked up Southland. For my nomination might I suggest Harry’s Law if NBC elects not to renew it.

  • JTV

This can be good for them on any given weeknight

    8:00-8:30-Big Bang Theory
    8:30-9:00-Big Bang Theory
    9:00-9:30-Cougar Town (new)
    9:30-10:00-Cougar Town (repeat)
    10:00-10:30-The Office
    10:30-11:00-The Office
    11:00-12:00- CONAN

“TVbythenumbers deleted this post because it couldn’t handle the truth and also had computer problems.”

Perhaps, in an A Few Good Men moment, we had computer problems because we couldn’t handle the truth. ;)

And I’d have gone a slightly different way with this headline.

Given that the show is produced by ABC Studios, if they are in fact talking to TBS, isn’t that a defacto admission that the show’s going to be canceled by ABC?

@JTV, given that BBT is by far the highest rated show on TBS (and typically near or at the top for all cable), why would TBS move it back to 8pm which has fewer viewers to advantage a ratings loser show like Cougar Town?
