Big Bang Theory repeats leading into Cougar Town originals on TBS? Penny can!

Deadline reports that TBS is in preliminary conversations about saving Cougar Town should ABC cancel it. We've still got Cougar Town on the bubble, and I'd be at least a little bit more surprised to see TBS pick it up than ABC.  We won't have to wait long to know its fate on ABC -- ABC announces its schedule on May 15.

FX is the perfect home for Happy Endings if ABC doesn’t renew it..

    Anarchy
    Always Sunny in Philadelphia
    Archer

  • ToXiX

Abc should just cancel their entire line up because it’s easily the most boring broadcast network.

    Meet the Browns was cancelled

TBS is a basic [expanded] cable channel in the U.S. (Turner Broadcasting, I think, in Atlanta.) I don’t have TBS, so I hope if CT goes there I can at least watch it online. That’s how I watched My Boys up until it ended, after we gave up our expanded basic cable channels.

But I hope ABC keeps it, or maybe NBC could get it (feels more like an NBC show).

  • Bad Decision TBS

Why would TBS save that loser? Plus CT is a single-cam doesn’t fit in well with the multi-cam viewers watching BBT.

  • Concerned Citizen

ABC has way too many successful sitcoms to make a Cougar Town renewal a smart decision with it being two seasons away from syndication. But if it moved to TBS, a great portion of its audience would move with it. It should be able to put up reasonably successful numbers for them. Not sure if it will happen, but I have to believe it’s a more likely scenario than an ABC renewal.

Any theoretical schedule that doesn’t have BBT leading directly into Conan rings false to me.

  • Polar Bear

What’s the point of TBS? Big Bang Theory marathon repeats? I can’t think of anything worse.

  • The Big Toe

I like Cougar Town, but it will be canceled :(

  • Rebecca

I have a feeling that if it is canceled and no one else picks it up, it should at least end well on May 29th. And then I’ll buy the third season on DVD and my collection will be complete.

I hope it gets renewed against all odds, because I love it, how can you be a CT fan and say, “I love CT but ABC needs to cancel it”, that’s just STOOPID! [sic]

  • Ram510

YES YES YEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!! I need my Cougar Town I don’t care where it is I’ll watch it!!! And this would redeem TBS from cancelling Glory Daze

It’s nice to know that Bill Lawrence and Courtney Cox & Co. are really fighting to keep this show on the air! Thank you

    @ ChrisA

If Nikita is cancelled it would be better on TNT or maybe FX. I would live to se a Nikita/Southland or Nikita/R&I combo. And on FX a Nikita/American Horror Story combo would be AWESOME

    @HotLatino4GayMarriage

Because renewing shows with low ratings is a slippery slope. How do you think NBC got where it is?

Also, I like CT but I like Happy Endings and Apartment 23 more. Or are you suggesting they cancel The Middle, Suburgatory or Modern Family?

  • alffan

I don’t see how this makes any sense for TBS at all. I’ve watched the show since the beginning and it is ok. It’s not something I really look forward to. But Bill Lawrence somehow has nine lives. Look at how many years that overrated Scrubs lasted.

  • HotLatino4GayMarriage

@SJ since I don’t work at ABC, I don’t care if it ends up like NBC as long as I get another season of a show I love, I know the ratings are terrible, no disputing that, but if it gets renewed, I’m not gonna get mad.

What in the heck is TBS…?

One of Tuner’s basic cable networks, which are subsidiaries of Time Warner. TBS focuses almost exclusively on sitcoms (mostly syndicated, but they also have original series) and comedic movies.

  • Hugh

It could rate higher than it does on ABC!

  • OMG

ABC is in a really weird position this year. Previously it is about “not cancelling anything that doesn’t crash and burn” and this year, they actually have to make tough decisions. I can understand why they are not renewing shows early this year.

    please please please please please

At this point I’ll celebrate if the Norwegian Home Shopping Network picks it up.
