THE CLIENT LIST Propels Lifetime to Number One Spot on Cable Sundays at 10 pm

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 7, 2012) – Lifetime has renewed its hit scripted series The Client List, starring and executive produced by Jennifer Love Hewitt, for a second season to premiere next year with 15 all-new episodes, it was announced today by Nancy Dubuc, President and General Manager of Lifetime Networks.

Regarding the announcement, Dubuc said, “The Client List represents everything we want to be -- fresh, exciting and original with attitude.  We love Jennifer and this series, and are equally thrilled that they have connected with our audience, especially as we express our new brand, ‘Your Life. Your Time.’”

Hewitt added, “I couldn’t be happier about Lifetime’s decision to renew The Client List for a second season.  It has been so much fun working with such a great cast and crew on the wonderful stories we tell, and I’m ready to see where The Client List takes all of us next year.”

The Client List, last week’s number one drama on basic cable among Adults 18-49, tells the story of Texas housewife “Riley Parks” (Hewitt), who, after being deserted by her husband, takes a job at a seemingly traditional day spa only to learn that sexual favors are being offered there on the side.  Conflicted at first, she seizes the opportunity and takes the job, balancing two starkly different lives – one as a single mom in a conservative town struggling to provide for her family – and the other as a masseuse working with a rowdy and unpredictable group of women.  The Client List also stars Golden Globe winner Cybill Shepherd (Cybill), Emmy® Award-winning actress Loretta Devine (Grey’s Anatomy) and Colin Egglesfield (Something Borrowed).  Based on the network’s hit 2010 original movie, The Client List is executive produced by Hewitt, John Tinker (Hawthorne, The Practice), Jordan Budde (GCB, 90210), Efrem Seeger (Queer as Folk, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), Howard Braunstein (The Client List, The Informant!) and Dannielle Thomas (The Client List), with Fedora Films and Jaffe/Braunstein producing, in association with Sony Pictures Television.

In its April 8th premiere, The Client List averaged 2.8 million Total Viewers, becoming the network’s most-watched series launch since Drop Dead Diva in 2009.  The drama has launched Lifetime to be the number one cable network among Total Viewers, Adults 25-54, Women 2+ and Women 18+ in the Sunday 10:00-11:00pm time period.  Season-to-date (through 4/29/12), the show has averaged 2.7 million Total Viewers, 1.3 million Adults 25-54, 1.3 million Adults 18-49, 993,000 million Women 25-54 and 936,000 Women 18-49.

Lifetime’s scripted fare for 2012 includes season six of the highly rated Army Wives and the June 3rd premiere of season four of the critically acclaimed Drop Dead Diva.

Cool. It’s a very unrealistic show, but entertaining nonetheless. They should really focus on more than just Riley’s life though.

  • TV Gord

Good. Now maybe some channel in Canada will pick it up!

  • John A

Im loving this show. 15 more episodes is great news.

  • Concerned Citizen

I think I saw a tiny little bit of this show. It was putrid.

  • TV Gord

You’re not sure you saw a tiny little bit of the show? You only THINK you saw it? And yet, you know it was putrid? I see. Solid comment. :-/

  • John A

I was hoping Lifetime might have increased season 1 to 13 episodes. 10 isnt that much.

  • Ivy

10 episodes is becoming more common for cable networks.

What I find sad…they renew this drivel but canceled Against the Wall and The Protector and continue with Drop Dead Diva? I guess it’s why I cannot invest myself in series shown on Lifetime.

  • John A

Well Lifetime didnt renew The protector or Against the wall cos the ratings werent good.

  • Brandy

    Im happy about this

  • Concerned Citizen

    @TV Gord

I saw a minute of something which I THINK was The Client List. Whatever I saw was putrid.

  • ChadCronin

I think she looks cute in her outfits and they have been casting super hot guys, so it works for me. Glad it’s renewed

  • SJ

Love this! At least one of my Sunday night soaps will continue next year…

  • GG

Who would not watch Jennifer Love Hewitt? Goddess of television shows.

Now i can further enjoy the show without worrying. #Happy

I’m so pleased that The Client List has been renewed, I love Jennifer Love Hewitt. The show has far exceeded my expectations, both quality-and-ratings-wise. I was expecting it to be terrible and last barely a season, but it ended up being great switch-off-your-mind fun and has been a massive hit for Lifetime.

Fifteen more episodes is a shock to me, I was expecting at most a twelve-episode renewal. Here’s to many more seasons.

    One word… Boring!

I loved JLH when she was a 90s teen idol but the poor girl can’t get a part in a decent project to save her life. First, it was the mawkish and horribly cheesy Ghost Whisperer and now this crap? I saw the pilot and it was just awful. All her clients are extremely attractive, buff men? Right! The show was just offensively stupid.

  • AppleStinx

Swell! She’s having so much fun, the ‘Client List’ could become ‘Parks and Recreation’. I haven’t watched any of the series episodes but am pleased there’ll be future ones for me to write about.

  • SMG4E

That’s great! I’m glad there’s much more The Client List to come, because I am definitely enjoying the series. Although, I will say, last night’s episode was my least favorite. Too slow, not enough focus on The Rub, more about Linette’s boyfriend. I’m getting kind of bored with the Linette/Garrett storyline and I hope it ends soon. I think this show needs less romance and drama, and it needs more suspense and thrills. Giving it a little of that I think would entirely change the show for the better. I’ll continue to watch and see what happens.

Ivy – What I find sad…they renew this drivel but canceled Against the Wall

I agree 100%. Against the Wall was must see TV for me. I might revel what happened to Riley’s hubby just so they have to cancel the show. ;)

  • It Girl

The Cast is EXCELLENT , The Story-Line are great too !
