Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2012 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Happy to see DH & Amazing Race get a decent bump over last week, both are doin a good job at being viewing worthy.
    ++
    GCB I really want to like the show but it has so many issues.
    I hate how they shot Kristin Chenoweth so she looks like a munchkin, that was never an issue when she was on Glee.
    I get the white marriage between Blake & Cricket but so what if someone knows, its friggen 2012, and its not like his coming out would really change anything for them.
    Then last night we get a twist with Ripp that made ZERO sense and was out of character.
    ++
    In Short ,, GCB even beyond the series name might be so damaged it has little chance to get another order.

    I’m glad DH is up.I would like GCB renewed but it may not be.

  • Tom

    ABC needs to cancel “GCB”…it is not funny and is totally unwatchable! They should renew the far superior “Scandal” and “Missing”…both have ratings that far exceed those of “GCB!”

    @SJ

    I made my comparison between V and GCB just for you. And you didn’t notice. Sigh. (While I was completely serious about the numbers, I thought you’d find my bringing up that old show somewhat amusing… That or at least my note about keeping acronym-titled shows relegated to CBS, where nobody cares about what they’re watching, since it’s all the same anyway.)

    I do hope ABC will decide to give GCB another, better chance. I seriously think that giving it a REAL title would help. I also think that, after a somewhat iffy beginning, the show came into its own. I guess it happened when the girls seemed to be on a path toward real friendship which opens up lots of potential stories that weren’t possible when the “I hate Amanda” theme permeated the episodes.

    Also, while I don’t know if it’s ever been done, I do think the show’s setup would allow for it to become a half-hour comedy, if that’s what it would take to save it. Creatively speaking, the first ten episodes can be referred to as a mini-series (less than 12 episodes earns that designation) setting up the story. With a new single-cam comedy format (that wouldn’t require any change in writing or directing style, really), the only difference would be the length of the episodes and, with the full title, it could be relaunched.

    It would be a perfect replacement for Cougar Town. :)

    I’m actually going to miss DH. It had a nice run and I still remember when it came out – everyone was going crazy over it

  • forg

    I stopped watching DH last season when they wasted the potential of Paul returning with such a lazy storyline. Looks like I haven’t miss that much base on the comments here. And there’s not much buzz online as well. So I’m guessing the series finale will just be in low 3s. but at least they’re ending on a decent rating unlike House

  • Anthony

    GCB better be renewed!!!! GCB, Happy Endings, Suburgatory, Apt23, & Modern Family are the only shows I watch on ABC and I would love to continue watching future seasons of GCB. Great show, Great cast, & is can’t miss tv for me.

  • One @ Survivor Fan

    Your simulations are probably overestimating the flexibility of CBS schedulers. As I’ve held, they’re holding SOMETHING on the late spring schedule for midseason. They’re not going to do that twice in the same year, and certainly not if they’re going to do it to a drama, which has been my thought on it for awhile.

    (yeah, I’m aware of the prevailing opinion that its going to be Undercover Boss that’s held, but I don’t buy it if only because I buy more into the concept of CBS being willing to do anything to get better ratings on Fridays @ 8. CBS would want that from the start, ere go launching Boss in the fall next season.)

  • Sam

    So sad that “Harry’s Law” continues to slip. If/when NBC cancels it, I wonder if there might be life for it on a cable outlet, say, TNT? A large number of people watch the show, just not the right demographic for NBC. It might work for TNT. A really wild thought is CBS picking up “Harry’s Law” and plugging it in its older-skewing Friday lineup. This would be in interesting lineup: 8 p.m. “The Mentalist,” 9 p.m. “Harry’s Law,” 10 p.m. “Blue Bloods.”

    FOX 1.9 A18-49,
    2.1 A18-34

    How do FOX get these numbers? Why is the 18-34 higher than 18-49? Isn’t it A18-49= A18-34 + A35-49?

  • Justin121

    Nobody does finales like Desperate Housewives.

    Every year they deliver an awsome finale but open-ended.

    This time it’s Finale-Finale.

    I’m excited.

    No. In order to get Adults 18-49 from Adults 18-34 and Adults 35-49, you’d have to use a weighted average.

    Parenthood will be back of course! If they cancel it they would be really dump!

    First Fake NBC 2012-13 Schedule Surfaces
