Jose Cruz, Jr. Joins ESPN as MLB Analyst

Former Gold Glove Award-winning Major League Baseball outfielder Jose Cruz, Jr. has joined ESPN as an MLB analyst and will make his debut on Baseball Tonight on May 16. In addition to appearing on Baseball Tonight throughout the season, Cruz will also contribute to Beisbol Esta Noche on ESPN Deportes.

“I’m excited to join ESPN’s impressive roster of MLB commentators,” said Cruz. “I accumulated a wealth of knowledge and perspective during my playing career and I’m eager to share those insights on Baseball Tonight.”

Cruz played 12 MLB seasons, winning the Rawlings Gold Glove Award in 2003 as a member of the San Francisco Giants. The switch-hitting Cruz made his Major League debut with the Seattle Mariners in 1997 and retired after a stint with the Houston Astros in 2008.

Jose is a member of Puerto Rico’s famous Cruz baseball family. His father - also Jose Cruz - was a two-time All-Star for the Houston Astros. Cruz’s uncles Hector and Tommy also played in the big leagues.

Cruz previously worked as an MLB analyst for MLB.com.
