   This may be an odd question, but does HBO even care about the demo? Without advertising, I would think they would not be a slave to the 18-49 like other networks.

   As their money is in selling subscriptions and DVDs, wouldn’t total viewers be king?

   Or do 18-49 matter for syndication sales?

   well the head of dish network played fan excuse bingo yesterday and said that AMC is devalued as a network due to releasing their shows the day after on demand with i tunes and amazon and other ppv sites. i think he’s wrong and being a dick.

   From what I understand, no they don’t really care about the demo. What they look at it total viewers and how many people Subscribe, CX and Maintain their subs at what point during the airing of there shows.

    @atxountry: HBO’s been known to keep at least one show, Arli$$, on the air in spite of poor absolute ratings since so many of its fans said they’d unsubscribe should it be canceled. Total viewership must have a fairly strong correlation with keeping current subscribers or attracting new ones, but ultimately it boils down to how many people are paying for the service. I’m pretty sure that’s why they’ve been able to launch HBO Go- whether you’re watching the first-run airing or seeing it 3 weeks later on your laptop on vacation, as long as they’re getting your money it doesn’t matter when or where you watch their programming.

    HBO, Showtime, etc. are all about viewers and subscriptions.

    With those numbers why doesn’t tough love make the Top 100 list. Is there such a difference between its 18-49 numbers and its 22-54 numbers?

    So the reairing of Girls does better than the reairing of Veep at a later hour though I’m confused as to why its not listed in the top 100 with a demo of .4

    The Killing has to be dead at this point, right? I mean, I know it’s going up against the NBA playoffs, and I imagine there will at least be a spike in the finale. But a 0.3? With all the backlash that it’s given AMC? And with the two new pilots they picked up? There’s no way it’s coming back.

    Also, nice numbers for Game of Thrones. Well deserved.

    @Ron: The list that TVBTN gets is of the top 100 cable shows in A25-54, but it also contains the 18-49 and total viewership figures (plus possibly other demos that no one really cares about). Whoever’s posting the list rearranges them based on 18-49, but a top 100 18-49 show may not be in the top 100 25-54 and thus won’t be on the list. Evidently Veep has an older-skewing viewership than Girls, which, just based on the premises of each, wouldn’t surprise me (I haven’t seen either).

    I still enjoy The Killing but, with these numbers, I doubt there will be anything after this season. Perhaps wrapping the one case is all that’s required anyway. Holding comment on Game of Thrones this week.
