As widely expected NBC has picked up comedy Guys With Kids to series according to Variety. The show is from Jimmy Fallon's production company, Holiday Road. This joins comedies Go On, Save Me, The New Normal, 1600 Penn and Animal Practice.
Earlier today NBC renewed Law & Order: SVU for a 14th season and picked up drama Chicago Fire

Lots of new comedies on NBC. Hummmm.
I believe that Whitney, Are You There, Chelsea? and Up All Night are gonne.
Who predicts it will bomb? Seeing the new shows this season for the majority bombed, I don’t have high hopes for this.
Finally a multi-cam comedy for NBC
The same Variety article is hinting that NBC’s next move will be a pickup of “County” plus a renewal of “Parenthood”.
At this rate NBC wont have any surprises for upfronts except bad cancellation news. What are they doing?
@TMDude
Well now i am sure comedies and reality will be more and more cause big decline on dramas. I guess networks doubt that dramas can sirvive against sitcms and singing shows! And they are right! Last 3-4 years only CBS has success with dramas all others failed.
Is it normal for them to pick up this many comedies?
@Harris
Well they’re announcing the actual schedule even before the upfront (this Sunday, to be exact)
They should have given Prime Suspect a fair run.

Were Whitney and Chelsea single cam’s? I think they’ll pick up Whitney and (even though reports are that they don’t really care for it) Downwardly Mobile and launch those two in the Fall and DILFs (still calling it by it’s working title) will launch in midseason.
@Harris
schedule! That is most important thing especially with so many and drastic changes for NBC!
Is it normal for them to pick up this many comedies?
YES! With comedies up and dramas down for all networks. They will go with two hour comedy block in tue or wed.
I wonder if this might be good news for Whitney since it’s hard to toss a multicam and a singlecam together with success.
NBC is ordering lots of shows because it’s expecting a lot of them to flop. They’re going to air as much stuff as possible this next season to see if they can find something that works. Also, the episode counts will be smaller with a lot of shows only getting 13 episodes, if the rumors are true.

they did, and audiences didn’t respond. NBC plugged it in on Monday when Playboy got cancelled and it did nothing to Thursday showings. They launched a “Prime Suspect week” where Prime Suspect was shown at 9 (CT) every night in a week and it still did nothing. But I applaud NBC for at least showing every episode of the show.
I think this means that Whitney will be renewed.
@SVU
According to Deadline, Downwardly Mobile is no longer in contention. It’s dead.
They’ve picked up 6 comedies, plus they’re likely bringing back 6 more (Office, Parks, Rock, Community, Up All Night, Whitney). Plus The Farm is likely to debut mid-season and Off Their Rockers… Whoo! I think they’re done.
