As widely expected NBC has picked up comedy Guys With Kids to series according to Variety. The show is from Jimmy Fallon's production company, Holiday Road. This joins comedies Go On, Save Me, The New Normal, 1600 Penn and Animal Practice.
Earlier today NBC renewed Law & Order: SVU for a 14th season and picked up drama Chicago Fire

Whitney and Downwardly Mobile would have been an awesome pair, but oh well.
@ Jim
They still might be paired together don’t listen to the rumors, that’s all speculation from what I heard Downwardly Mobile is in deep negotiations right now and Deadline should’ve never reported that without actually knowing the facts.
I definitely didn’t predict any of these comedy pick ups. I thought it would be Downwardly Mobile and Friday Night Dinner.I did guess that Go On and 1600 Penn had a shot, and that New Normal would be picked up and promoted as “From the creator of Glee and American Horror Story” as a ratings grab, but it does look terrible.
pretty sure Community is pretty safe with it syndication deal, the number of episode for the season is still unknown
My guess is that Community, 30 Rock, The Office & Parks & Recreations get picked up for 13 episodes each. The Office is showing signs of age and the final 13 episodes of The Office will introduce Rainn Wilson’s new spin-off series.
If HL returns (big IF) it should be on Friday night.
Harry’s Law at 8
Grimm at 9
Dateline at 10
They would be smart if they use Harry’s Law to boost either Chicago Fire or County.
Did you know NBC passed up Roseanne in 1987 and thats how it got to ABC?
Carsey-Werner wanted an episodic commitment sight-unseen (because of “The Cosby Show”) and NBC would only offer a pilot. ABC gave them whatever it was they wanted. Of course ABC lost out on “The Cosby Show” thanks to a certain guy (who was promptly demoted and later fired by the late father of a certain guy who runs Comcast) who decided Bill Cosby was a nobody, so…
P.S. You are very wise on “Harry’s Law.” The value is indeed more than what it rakes in in rates. It’s what it does for the affiliates and, more importantly, what it does for the scripted shows that air after it. I agree that it would be a great launching pad for a new show.
Is there any word on ‘Awake’ yet? I know the ratings are not good but I’m really liking this show & wish NBC would give it a little longer to find its audience & develop the story.
