Fox has renewed Touch for a second season  - no word on number of episodes ordered yet. Not a surprise, both Bill and I thought renewal was more likely than cancellation.

Alcatraz is dead (no surprise)  and now Fox has canceled The Finder too (also no surprise).

Additionally Fox picked up 3 new comedies and two new dramas.

I’m with the general consensus; wanted to really like Alcatraz, but hmmmmmm…..well….glad to see it go.

Wanted to like Touch, but can’t tolerate the yelling for Jake even one more time. Man!

The public will stop investing any time in new programming if networks keep dropping series faster than President Obama changes his views on gay marriage. The networks spend lots of time and money to promote and produce shows they drop before an audience can start to warm up to charactors.

I like Touch. I really do. Although, I admit, I have a bias, given that I grew up with two Autistic siblings. The show CAN get a bit redundant at times.
I like the idea of things being interconnected, but I can understand why that can be a tough concept for people to get behind.

Maybe the show would have been better received, had it been marketed more towards the sci-fi genre? Is the aim of the show to have us believe we are all in some sort of global consciousness?

As much as I like the show, I feel like there is some overall arch that is missing, and if getting Jake back is supposed to be it, it is not enough.

Really sad they cancelled The Finder. Wish they cancelled Bones and kept The Finder instead. Or just kept both. So lame.

Nadine Harris said, “Gosh am I tired of hearing that feeble excuse from people”

Then maybe it’s time for you to take a break from the site, or at least from posting. There’s no reason for you to be personally insulting based on my use of the word “lead-in”.

“When will the sci-fi/fantasy people understand that they are a very small, insular niche and many people (me, mostly) loathe it.”

This has zero to do with “sci-fi/fantasy people”. I know that you’re not new here, so you know quite well that lead-ins are mentioned in all sorts of conversations that have nothing to do with the particular genre fans that you mention, whether it’s the CW shows, the Monday 10PM shows, ABC’s 10PM shows in general, and so on. You’re statement is flat out wrong. And it makes you a hypocrite unless you start calling out every person and group that mentions lead-ins.

As far as these fans being in a “small, insular niche”. Have you ever heard of Lost, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones? I haven’t seen you posting in the Sunday Cable Ratings calling the ratings of the latter two “small”, but I’ll look for you there next week.

I “loathe” lots of shows, I could list off dozens off the top of my head, but despite the fact that I’ve been here four years, I don’t mention them. This is a ratings site, and my “loathing” has nothing to do with anything and, more importantly, has nothing to do with the character of it’s fans. I don’t know why you’re calling me out, maybe you’re having a bad day, but it doesn’t matter. The only problem here is you, you’re just trying to take it out on me.

I can’t believe that Alcatraz has been canceled! :( Such a shame. :(

The Finder was one of the few Fox shows I looked forward to watching on Hulu except for Fringe. Alcatraz was was going really slow and it felt like a chore to watch it rather than actually entertaining.

I’m glad FOX renewed Touch. I like it. It has element human drama and romance. It feel moved your heart. It’s true Drama is the Heart of this series.

well that’s too bad about the Finder. I didn’t care for it in the beginning, and then it kind of grew on me. the characters were interesting and I loved the theme song. plus Michael Clarke Duncan was very good in his part of Leo. I even followed it to its new time slot on Fridays too. oh well. I have the impression the Finder is one of those shows that people either liked it or they didn’t.

  • Shana

Sorry to see Alcatraz go, liked it, it was different. I tried to like Touch because I like Keifer, but if I hear him call Jake one more time I’ll scream. Don’t think I’ll watch next season.

  • susan

I am really rather pissed about “the finder” i really liked the show and cast! I hate fox

  • sam

I really like the Finder but I can’t believe the way that it ended–with everyone in trouble. I’m all for cliffhangers but these writers had to know the likelihood of cancellation. It is like they punished those of us who were watching the show.

  • John

Typical FOX, I have never been able to get into Fringe, and I can’t stand Touch.

  • Lee

I absolutely LOVE The Finder. I’m so upset that it’s being cancelled. I tried watching Touch and after the third one I’d had enough. The Finder however was funny and quirky and the characters were awesome. If it wasn’t for Bones I would stop watching Fox all together.

Wow, sad to see Alcatraz go and yes I know it was poorly performing BUT I was just hoping for a 2nd season. There was NO finality to either of these two shows. What a waste of time. Alcatraz made many mistakes that are typical of a JJ Abrams show. Too much jabber, too little progression, too little uptick too late. I love Hurley but whoever did the casting for this thing…well that’s where the mistakes started. You want a partner that is not a big boring lug, right? That was the least of th problems, just the most visible. If Kiefer yells “Jaaaaake, Jaaaake” one more time, my dvr will give Touch the axe too. There is something majorly missing from that show. C’mon Kring, give us someof that early Heroes magic! Throw some government program that has been secretly watching Jake and others like him in there. Give us a big baddie. Introduce more people like Jake, young and old. Give us something MORE than what we are geting now for ratings sake of course :)

They CAN’T cancel The Finger and Alcatraz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I swear if the Fox channel doesn’t finish Alcatraz or the Finder I’m NEVER going to watch tv on their channel EVER again!!!!! They Suck!!!!

Why does everything I love watching keep getting cancelled?!?
I miss The Good Guys, the Cape, Life, Memphis Beat, and Human Target… and i’m sure there’s others I miss that I left out… >_< Seriously the ppl in charge have no taste in TV….

  • AmberC.

lol I can’t edit that but I meant to say the Finder …. lol

  • Sinner

Gutted that Finder has been canceled, nice fun show. Nevermind I’m sure Fox will dazzle us with more reality TV crap.

  • Elle

I think they got this backward…should have kept the finder and canceled Touch.

  • Fred

Touch is outstanding, amazing and great story line. Keep it up FOX!
