As expected, Parenthood has been renewed for a fourth season of 15 episodes by NBC.  NBC also confirms that 30 Rock has been renewed for a seventh and final season of 13 episodes. These renewals join Law & Order: SVU which was renewed for a 14th season yesterday.

NBC also picked up its 3rd and fourth new dramas Do No Harm and Infamous.

Ordering lower episode counts gives NBC scheduling flexibility while they are trying to launch something worth keeping. If their new fall lineup tanks, like it did this season, you can bet that all but 30 Rock (Because it’s the final season) get some sort of back order.

Do No Harm: Drama about a brilliant neurosurgeon who wrestles with his dangerous alter-ego that threatens to wreak havoc on his personal and professional life.

This is the sypnosis. The cast seems (to me) as relatively unknown.

BTW, congratulation for NBC! They get rid of almost all their bad shows and decide to continue rebuild with new shows.

  • Jane

    Thanks.That`s all I wanted.

    OH WHAT A HAPPY DAY!!

I hope NBC still goes with County that’s their future ER. Do No Harm seems to character driven to work.

  • SmG

Infamous: Drama about a female detective who returns undercover to the wealthy family she grew up in – as the maid’s daughter – to solve the murder of the notorious heiress who was once her closest friend.

Some may remember this as “Revenge 2.0″ as this pilot was being constantly compared to ABC’s Revenge.

All the new series orders for NBC are scaring me. haha

    Speaking of internet rumours …

TBS has traded Cougar Town & Conan to Fox for Bones & Terra Nova plus a 3rd round pick in next seasons upfronts … they then turned around and flipped Terra Nova to Netflix for highspeed unlimited downloads and a case of RedBull. Fox in turn traded Cougar Town, the rights to Breaking In and exclusive online rights to American Dad to Hulu for Arrested Development. CBS cut Unforgettable who gets a minor league contract with NBC to air on USA. ABC has bought PBS outright and is selling the shows off to HGTV, Food Network, History and other cable channels is turning PBS into a 24/7 Shopping channel for Disney products. And the biggest surprise is NBC has traded Leno and future considerations to CBS for Letterman plus a series to be named later.

    YMMV

Why would anyone wish for Nikita to be cancelled? What’s wrong with you? That show is great and there’s nothing else like it on TV.

Anyway, I’m glad Parenthood got renewed. Best show on NBC for sure.

Also ‘Downwardly Mobile’ seems to have gone a bit quiet – that seemed to me like a really promising show. Any ideas what’s going on with it?

  • rob60990

@Nick, the show is dead at least on NBC. Apparently the show is being shopped around to other networks.

do no harm sounds totally interesting. i hope whoever plays the lead is a good actor cus it sounds like a tough role. but it’s NBC so i won’t get too set on its success yet.

The Office stars Ed Helms, John Krasinski and Jenna Fische are returning next season.

  • Mr Mumble

Deadline now saying three of the original The Office actors (Helms, Krasinski, Fischer) are v.close to signing up for another season.

The rumors from NBC about wanting shorter season pick-ups for Community and P&R is a rather blatant negotiating position as the studios will want to get 17 and 20 episodes respectively. The usual horse-trading.

  • Dan

@Robert – My guess is 15-18 episodes each or maybe NBC will start Parks and Community with 13 and extend them. Hopefully the writers will make finales for the shows.

  • disney rocks

Prediction- Parenthood gets 3-7 more episodes.

  • Dan

@rob60990 Whos saying 15 for Parenthood. I would believe it though and I wouldnt be surprised if NBC moved that to Thursdays at 10 to air after the similiar 2 hour comedy block. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if Parenthood stayed Tuesdays at 10 and a new drama aired Thursdays at 10.

  • Nick

    @rob

I’m really surprised by that, I thought the concept seemed like a winner! But then again we haven’t seen whatever they made to try and sell it to the network :p!
