As expected, Parenthood has been renewed for a fourth season of 15 episodes by NBC.  NBC also confirms that 30 Rock has been renewed for a seventh and final season of 13 episodes. These renewals join Law & Order: SVU which was renewed for a 14th season yesterday.

NBC also picked up its 3rd and fourth new dramas Do No Harm and Infamous.

@Mars, I’m sure that if NBC was successful they wouldn’t be using the time-share method. The only reason they’re doing it now is because they’re desperate. They don’t have any bona fide hits. I’m sure if they had a huge hit, they’d schedule it for a full 22 episode season.

I’d still like to see NBC schedule Parenthood at 8p ET, just to see if it could win some more eyes. If not, air it after “The Voice” for a few weeks to try and win it some viewers.

15 episodes for Parenthood while 22 episodes for The Firm, no wonder NBC shows are ratings challenged.

    @ chris

i have not heard anything but jenna fisher is on jay leno tonight she mightv mention something. anybody think the office ratings will incrase next year now that james spader is gone and andy buckly is probably coming back. i’m sure we would perfer it to go out stronger then it was this year.

I read a synopsis of ‘Do No Harm’ from another blog site. The description was”

“A brilliant neurosurgeon wrestles with his dangerous alter ego that threatens to wreak havoc on his personal and professional life.”

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t this sound dangerously close to the premise of ‘A Gifted Man’?
Just substitute “alter ego” for “dead wifes ghost” and you have a situation that “wreaks havoc on his personal and professional life”

Again, didn’t CBS (a network with far more potential viewers than NBC)- try almost this same exact premise this past season and fail?

So NBC thinks that they can make the same idea work? I guess we’ll see, but I wouldn’t bet on it NBC.

NBC has bought at least five new dramas for next season, if my information is correct – “Chicago Fire,” “Do No Harm,” “Hannibal,” “Infamous,” and “Revolution.”

    Carmen,
I read the same description, but thought “Dr. Jeckyll And Mr. Hyde,” not “A Gifted Man.” I guess we’ll see which of us is closer (unless we’re both way off) next season.

Sad 30 Rock gets only 13 eps, but definitely not surprised.

Glad to hear parenthood will be renewed.. Was very upset when the thought of it possibly being cancelled! My husband and I are late 30’s early 40’s group. We can really relate to the show! I don’t understand the comments about Harry’s law, that’s my absolute favorite, I used to be a law and order fan, but I really think the show needs stabler back. Love Whitney! Hope she comes back! We, however, cannot get into the other shows that were mentioned, like 30 rock, parks and recreation, and the other shows that everyone else seems worried about! We also watch Grimm and hope they bring it back
