Update 5: I think I might have jumped the gun on Mistresses earlier, but it has now officially been picked up.

Update 4: And Reba McEntire's Malibu Country.

Update 3: and drama 'Last Resort' from Shawn Ryan.

Update 2: also drama '666 Park Avenue'

Update: ABC has also picked up comedy 'How To Live with Your Parents for the Rest of Your Live' - let's hope they shorten that before the season starts!

ABC has picked up two comedies --'The Family Tools,' and 'The Neighbors' -- along with the dramas 'Nashville,' 'Red Widow,' and 'Zero Hour.'

@MoHasani, Devious Maids is an ABC Studios production so it’s most likely not going forward.

  • Anna

@MattD Family Tools and Comeback Jack are the same thing!

  • edward

damn two new shows on Sunday nights this fall.

  • rob60990

So if ABC is done with picking up shows they produce, the only ones that have a chance are 666 Park Ave, Awesometown, Family Trap, Gotham, How to Live with Your Parents, Last Resort, The Smart One, and The Unprofessional. Scruples too but that sounds dead.

  • John Walter Seip

why are they stopping ABC studios confused

  • SteveO

Well I’m still hoping Devious Maids gets picked up by some network (not NBC or CW though, I don’t want it to be canceled). Maybe ABC picked it up and we just haven’t heard yet.

    @ Bunny

“There was a rumor that ABC hated their comedy pilots”

Could be, but they are in the enviable position of not needing very many. They start next season with 6 strong comedies already in place.

  • rob60990

@Robert, Comeback Jack and Family Tools are the same show ;)

  • Victor Hugo

These are just pickups of series produced by ABC Studios! There are going to be other pickups from another studios!!

LOL seams like forever since the last time we heard any buzz on Zero Hour, I think everybody called it dead!

And at least for now it look like the buzzed Devious Maids won’t be picked up! Thanks God, that was going to be awful despite having a lot of big stars!! ABC has to learn that they haven’t to pick up a show just to please the producer(Off The Map) or because it already has a name(like Charlie’s Angels)!

+ malibu country are all done!? ugh that news they “heard” better be false.

  • Kavyn

‘666’ and ‘How To Live With Your Parents’ are what I’m waiting for :)

  • MoHasanie

What?!?! I don’t really look forward to new shows, but I was actually really interested in this one :( .
Why aren’t ABC picking up shows made by ABC studios? I thought that was a reason why some shows are favored by ABC for picking up/ renewal more than one’s produced by other studios…

  • John Walter Seip

ABC will pick up more pilots but they are done with the pilots made by ABC Studios. They are going to outside suppliers to fill the rest of the slate.

  • John Walter Seip

If they pick up from outside, those pilots have to pay ABC a lisence fee to air them. So ABC makes more $$$$$

  • The Mike Factor

Hopefully once Delta Burke recovers Counter Culture will swoop in and save midseason. Comeback Jack and The Neighbors both sound kind of dumb to me, primarily the latter, so I expect them to be killed quickly.

  • tvfreak

@rob60990: So they did in fact pick up the alien sitcom? Great! I was dying to see that one.

But still, why are so many people writing off Last Resort now? Look what happened with Revolution on NBC, so many people were saying that pilot was dead. And what about 666 Park Avenue?

Then again, ABC did order, what, six drama shows this year? And only three have survived, with almost no chance of any more freshman renewals. They could do it again.

  • John Walter Seip

ABC has picked up sarah Chalke’s How to live with your parents

  • Survivor Fan
  • Pink Mama

    Pick up ‘Last Resort’ !!!!!!!

  • Kavyn

@John YES! I love me some Elizabeth Perkins and Sarah Chalke. Should be interesting :)
