No surprises, and some of these fall into the "now more canceled than ever" category, but NBC confirms it has canceled  'Awake, 'Are You There Chelsea,' 'Best Friends Forever,' and 'Bent.' For semantic purists, that's canceled as in definitely won't be back next season as opposed to 'Awake' being yanked off the schedule for next week.

No word yet on Harry's Law...

    Awake had premise and I enjoyed it a lot. It was from the producer of 24 and Homeland. I think it would be a hit on CBS (Fan Excuse Bingo ! :) )

    I hope next year Revolution will not get the same treatment with Awake and put into that horrid Thursday 10 pm slot.

    Guess its good to see even NBC has its standards.

  • Dylan

    I would love to see Awake be picked up by TNT and aired right along with Southland to show NBC how good they could have had it. 2 great shows NBC dropped.

    @DW

    If anything it’s more, should we, or shouldn’t we keep it, with the numbers in mind. Once a definitive decision has been made it’l be made public.

    Sad to see “Awake” cancelled……and it’s just about to answer all the questions it’s been building to. So aside from not being on next week, is it not going to conclude this season?

  • tvfreak

    @Rob: Don’t worry, they haven’t pulled Awake’s last two episodes from the schedule. They don’t really have anything to replace it with anyway.

  • Masterbreel

    Sad for Awake, hope for a good series finale

  • Marsinvestigations1

    Hmm guess HL was higher than a 0% for renewal. Or they’d have done it in with these shows…

  • SmG

    Also passing on County and picking up Do no harm; and passing on Midnight Sun and picking up Notorious (Infamous) instead is not a good decision, but we’ll see maybe the execution will be better than these shows sound, though I’m not holding my breath considering this is NBC.

  • ToXiX

    I don’t watch Harry’s Law, but I’m definitely banking on a renewal.

    So Shocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sarcasm.

    Strange that no word on yet about HL. I’m thinking the rumor of a 13-episode season might have some truth (but we’ll see). If NBC renews it I wonder if it will be to say haha to all the TV pundits who predicted it will be cancelled?

  • DM

    It’s a shame that ‘Awake’ didn’t ever catch on. It’s a damn good show, one of the best on network TV.

  • alexmathayes

    I’m really hoping some cable channel picks up Awake such as AMC/FX/Showtime. Shows that require brains while watching will never survive on network channels. Brainless shows like vampire diaries, secret circle, once upon a time and many more will get multiple seasons. This is so wrong.

    AMC/FX/Showtime plz… save awake cause its based on a brilliant concept.

  • Barb

    A network station was not the right now for Awake. It should been on cable and could have done better.

  • Dan

    Really bummed about Are You There, Chelsea? and Bent! I knew Bent would go which was too bad because I really enjoyed it. Really ticked about Chelsea; I was hoping it would get a 10 episode renewal as filler or something! Too bad-it would be nice if E! picked it up since it is Chelsea Handler!

  • Ali

    This is a sad day for TV, cancelling such a great show like Awake just goes to show the state the tv audience is in these days… I really hope they will wrap things up in the two episodes that are left

    /Going to cry in a corner now :’(

  • Dylan

    @alexmathayes

    Preach brotha. That’s exactly what needs to happen!

  • The End

    @alexmathayes

    How in the world is Once Upon a Time brainless? Do you even know what the word means?

  • alexmathayes

    @Ali, @Barb I completely agree with you guys. Awake would have never survived on network channel. It shuld have been on cable from day 1.
