NBC has ordered comedy Next Caller starring Dane Cook to series. Deadline reports it will likely be held for mid-season, and looks like it's only a six episode order.

    Why doesn’t a network announce all their renewals/pick-ups/cancellations at once?

    @kyle , yeah they have ordered about 9 or 10 comedies to their line up for next year. I bet more than 6 of them will be cancelled(wouldn’t be surprised if all of them do)

    Dane Cook = Poop. Hope this satisfies the guy that was happy no one was bad mouthing Dane Cook…equals Poop.

    @Dodge_hickey
    Enjoy Parks & Rec – it’s my favorite comedy.

    Maybe new shows’ descriptions (and/or video clips) will come with next week’s upfronts posts. I think we got short previews of the pilots during last May’s upfronts week.

    Did the people at NBC not watch “Good Luck Chuck”?

    I used to love Dane Cook (not that I hate him now, I just don’t keep up with his work). He is not the best with scripted stuff. Perhaps if there is a chance for him to improv it could be something.

    From the Tribune:
    “Next Caller,” starring the comedian as an alpha-male DJ.

    Written and produced by Stephen Falk, the single-camera comedy from Universal and Lionsgate finds Cook’s character, Cam, working with a “plucky, feminist co-host” at a satellite radio station, according to the network. Marc Buckland directed the pilot.

    Alpha male? Plucky? I am guessing they will be a will they/won’t they trope?

    @robertseldman Is there still a chance of downward lay mobile Bering shopped to another network? Do you know if it is completely over for contention in all networks?

  11. Mike

    I meant Downwardly mobile. Sorry for the mistakes.
