Heck yeahhhh! GH beat DAYS in total viewers! And it’s #3! Keep it up General Hospital!

  • Sean

YAY!!!! GO GH! FINALLY PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO REALIZE HOW AWESOME THIS SHOW IS. I CANT WAIT UNTIL ITS # 1. & IT TOTALLY KNOCKS OUT THE CHEW IN RATINGS TOO! GO GH! BEST SHOW ON THAT UGLY ABC NETWORK.

  • Jack

GH is making tiny baby steps in ratings improvement, but still falls way short of the gains that were made by OLTL. I actually was able to watch the entire episode this past Friday without yawning. I find it unusal that B&B added viewers and Y&R lost many. Is this reverse coattails? I hate the new older Kyle and as for Ricky, he would make a great vampire.

  • CC

Should be cheering for all soaps and not just one so we can keep what few are left.

  • Rob R

DAYS is higher in total viewers than a year ago, but way down in the 18-49 Women demo……….so that is why the show has jettisoned its writers. Expect them to go young and expand the teen/early 20s storylines.

  • Bart

YAY – more audience erosion for “Y & R” – this show has become a complete mess!! SORAS’ing Kyle was a huge mistake and now with MAB firing Eileen Davidson and SORAS’ing two more kids into teens, more shizz is on the horizon.

I hope the audience continues to flee in droves – then perhaps we can get rid of Maria Arena Bell – she is decimating her late father-in-law’s legacy!!

  • Lisa

B&B is the one that’s really showing improvement. It’s up in both categories over last week and last year. GH still isn’t quite back to where it was a year ago in the demo, though one more good week could do it. And that’s a huge demo loss for Days compared to last year.

  • Richard

    @Sean,

GH has got to beat The View to be ABC daytime’s #1 show. It has been a long time since it has done that. It is beating The Chew now — you have got to root for it to beat The View.

And GH has some hard hurdles coming up with summer which sees the shows drop typically, and it will be against the Olympics for awhile.

The positive factor about this weeks ratings is that they went up in 18-49 viewers. Those are the viewers it has got to attract and keep.

I am not watching GH — still not interested but may check in this next week just to see how things are going.

For GH’s sake and for the fans watching, just hope it is not as some are speculating on one board is that many are choosing to watch GH for now instead of Days. As many have said they are but when Days new writers come after the Olympics they will switch back.

If the shows are just switching viewers back and forth — that is not good for either show at all.

GH has improved TREMENDOUSLY since the OLTL crew took over .. they’ve brought in OLTL favorites, but GH favorites as well! Anna, Felicia, Heather, Robert, Holly, Noah, Frisco may be on his way .. I look forward to what RC&RV have planned, they are generating excitement! DAYS, not so much, I didn’t even bother taping it yesterday. A bunch of people “dead” again? Carrie in love with somebody besides Austin .. AGAIN? Lucas/Sami/Rafe, the merry-go-round continues. Yawn.

  • Rich

What is nice about GH’s ratings this week is that it was up from a year ago last year, though the 18-49 demo was down from last year.

  • Richard

I wish people would quit citing the thing of bringing back Robert, Noah and Holly as excuses to watch GH again. They were there for such a short time it was so insignificant. And them being there had no effect on any storylines. I mean they didn’t even keep Robert around long enough to attend his daughter’s funeral.

And they failed to use Holly effectively while she was there. They did end the terrible Woman in White story but the only way I would have given them any credit if they had used the return to iron out some of the damage they did to Luke and Laura and even Robert and Holly. But no they didn’t. At least that would have made the sitting through months and months of the Woman in White nonsense.

I will give you Anna, Heather and even Felicia for now. But so far only Heather of the three has had any story. Anna to me is just there. And I don’t see any thing in spoilers yet for Felicia’s return. to me just having them there is not enough reason to tune in. Use Felicia to iron out some of the damage that Guza did on her last return. Maybe he is doing that but they aren’t pushing it in spoilers.

For me if they want me to be excited and tune in then give me a spoiler of interaction between Maxie and Felicia — that I might tune in for. But reading a spoiler that says Jason accidentally walks into a Lamaze class. Wow I can’t wait to watch that.

And you talk about merry-go-rounds — Sonny and a new vendetta — that merry-go-round has been circling for ten years.

And I am not so sure where some are getting this excitement being stirred. It definitely isn’t among hardcore GH fans. And maybe that is what they want. Maybe they want to drive us away. They are definitely doing a good job of it. Drive us out. I guess they are confidant enough they will replace all of us.

For me all these rumored changes and hoopla that so many are saying still aren’t happening for me. When I hear them making significant changes to boost the hospital staff, to return some of the drama there involving medical stories, or I read that someone besides Sonny and Carly or Jason have a big story or at least some character I know besides this Todd, Tea or John person — then I might say yes they are making substantial changes. Right now it just seems like more of the same old same old. Maybe the dialogue is a little better, balance of scenes a little better, etc. But the foundation of the show is still the same. And the foundation of this show for the last 10 years just plain stinks.

  • Richard

Rich, This time last year is when GH started it’s summer downfall. They had been up all spring. But a few weeks after the cancellation annoucements of OLTL and AMC — GH started to crash. So even if the show had some small drops over the next few weeks they could still possibly be up from last year. GH was starting to see new lows throughout the summer last year.

  • DenverDean

B&B continues to impress with gains across the board.

  • animal

GH is the best soap on air right now, its amazing!!! sadly i still think it wont make it past another year cuz of abc, but still its great!!

  • I like this show

@Diana FINALLY someone else noticed that DOOL has turned into groundhogs day the series. It’s just laughable what DOOL has become I quit watching it I want to say 3-4 maybe even 5 years ago and they are still doing the love triangle thing. That’s why I quit watching it. They brought back John and Marlena and Carrie and Austin and Lucas and Billie etc etc etc….Z Z Z Z. All those characters are boring. It’s not 1996 anymore.

  • pinevalleylover

Go GH!!!!!!!! and @richard just because you don’t like the storylines on GH right doesn’t mean everyone else doesn’t like them either. I for one am loving the storylines i never watched oltl the two i watched were GH and AMC but now learning of the oltl drama is keeping me interested and another thing if the storylines are so bad for GH why are they up in the ratings??

  • Jeff

GO GH. Loving it. Watch as often as I can. Ratings climbing and I think will keep climbing. Todd and Carly should be quite a pairing. They are clearing the house of the silly characters that are useless, and I could care less how many OLTL characters they bring over as long as they keep enhancing stories. Bring some AMC characters too if you need to. Just keep moving forward! Good for you GH cast and crew. Be proud of yourselves.

  • JayTN

The rise in viewers and demographic for GH is encouraging, especially since all of the rest of ABC Daytime, including “Good Morning America”, was down from the previous week.

Something needs to be done to Y&R, either by producer Sony or CBS. This is a series that was routinely getting 5 million viewers in 2010 and even hit 5 million viewers back in December 2011. Now it seems like it flirts with falling below 4 million viewers on a semi-regular basis. I have not heard anything about Eileen Davidson leaving (though I do not regularly follow casting news), but did hear that Jess Walton (Jill Abbott) was taking a six-month leave of absence. Will she return?

pinevalleylover…I’m not trying to be rude, but just because you enjoy watching the current storylines on GH doesn’t mean everyone else does as well. Also, their is not always a correlation between quality and ratings.

  • Comechi

Oh snap GH is up to 2.4 million viewers that was pretty quick.

  • Craig

I love Days right now. And I’m glad John, Marlena, Crrie, Austin, and Lucas are back. They are the reason I’m watching!
