The ladies of Wisteria Lane say goodbye to television tonight in the series finale of Desperate Housewives. While now only a shadow of its formerly beastly adults 18-49-rated self, ABC is still likely to miss it. Only three ABC scripted shows outperformed it this season with adults 18-49 -- Once Upon A Time, Grey's Anatomy and Modern Family.
How will it do with adults 18-49 in its finale?

This has been a great show and I will really miss it. I would love to see a spinoff. Marc Cherry, you’re the bomb!
There’s so MANY things on today and on the same time.!!
3.1 with 11 million viewers.
Im saying inbetween a 3.4 and a 3.8…maybe higher. Im guessing it will get about 9.8M – 10.8M. It will have a decent rated finale since Dana Delany is returning.
8:00pm – Once Upon a Time = 10 million; 3.4
9:00pm – Desperate Housewives = 11.2 million; 3.4
10:00pm – Desperate Housewives = 13.5 million; 4.0
I think it is safe to say that Desperate Housewives was the last true broadcast network hit. Since its first season, no other show (DH included) has been able to attract such a large audience week after week.
It should be pointed out that the Lost finale was 2.5 hours while the Desperate Housewives finale will be 2 hours. That extra half hour helped Lost improve from its season 6 premiere (5.6 rating and 12.1 million total viewers) to the finale (5.8 rating and 13.567 million total viewers).
The season 8 premiere of Desperate Housewives had a 3.2 rating and 9.93 million total viewers. Because DH doesn’t have that extra half hour like Lost had, I don’t think DH will improve as much from its season premiere to finale. I’m predicting a 3.3 rating and 11 million total viewers for the series finale of Desperate Housewives.
I say low 3s for the demo and 12-13 million viewers.
Probably mid 3′s. Two of the last mega-hit network dramas, House and DH, are ending and there seems to be a collective shrug. That’s why I’m not expecting anything huge – not that the show deserves it.
@Bill – Before the last few years, most of the big erosion was happening in the middle and the bottom of the ratings chart. The top declined, but there were at least a few shows still able to put up huge numbers (DH was one of them). The last few years have cut off the top of the ratings chart (huge drops for established shows, no new mega hits), which gives the networks even less of a promotional platform for the rest of their series. Now, a show drawing a 6.0 consistently would make it the number one show on tv, but none can really pull it off unless you include DVR numbers. Even as late as the 2004/2005 season, there were 14 shows above a 6.0 on the season, which of course includes repeats. I’m guessing that’s what’s troubling the networks about today’s viewer erosion.
About 10 million, under 3.0.
@GD, I think that honour might have to go to Grey’s Anatomy
Mid-3s. I’d set the over/under at 3.45 – wouldn’t surprise me to see it lower than that in the 9pm hour and higher in the 10pm one.
For the sake of this, I’ll take the under and go 3.0-3.4. But the other side of 3.5 would not surprise me. Anything outside the 3s would stun me.
Hoping for a 3.5.
Broadcast ratings have been declining for decades. But, I wonder how high scripted series rated in the 18-49 demo back in the day. Did shows from 20-30 years ago get demo ratings in the 15+ range?
I voted 3.0-3.4- but higher would be even nicer.
I perdict a 2.8 and 9 million viewers. I don’t expect for there to be a massive jump in viewers / rating to be honest.

Season 1 finale: 30.6 million viewers; 13.4 A18-49
good times, and the show will be forever missed
4.1 and 14 million viewers
Do people still watch Survivor or Apprentice?? LOL
its so sad. Lost and Desperate Housewives bought me to TV like never before. I started to enjoy TV more than movies but then Lost ended, atleast I had these amazing women. Desperate Housewives ending is truly an END OF AN ERA.
R.I.P DH
