Update 2: And now official that CSI: NY has been renewed.

Update: It's official, CBS has canceled CSI: Miami. CBS said in a statement:

CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of “CSI: Miami” in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.”

related: NYC 22, Unforgettable and Rob all canceled.

original post:

The Big Apple triumphed over the sunglasses according to TV Guide's sources.  We figured CBS would part with at least one of CSI: Miami and CSI: NY, but due to lack of information on the economics (particularly international and syndication) we were never crystal clear on which would stay and which would go and gave a slight edge to CSI: Miami.  But according to the report CBS will announce it has renewed CSI: NY and canceled CSI: Miami.

    I HATE CBS right now…

    Sucks for the shows fans.

Did it end on a cliffhanger for them?

  • Dennis

Nooooooooooooooooooo!!! Miami was better than NY!!

“CSI NY with 1.1 rating renewed, but A Gifted Man with 1.5 rating canceled. Really?”

Considering a 1.5 was its series high, yea.

Not shocked if it’s true. Read that the CSI:M writers offices had been vacated and given to another show (probably one of the pilots), and that the CSI:NY cast had been advised not to look up new jobs on the pilots that were casting at the time. The sources seemed a bit “shady” then, but… surprise! :o

One thing about the economics that may have played a part: apparently CSI:M has lost 20% of its ratings since starting on Sun 10pm, while CSI:NY has only shed 5% of its Fri 9pm rating since being moved there ? I hadn’t done the math, so take those number with a grain of salt ;-)

Will it be back for fall? Will it be a final season?

  • Jess

Tough decision… the franchise means BIG MONEY to CBS so this decision makes sense, they will milk them as much as possible… CSIM= 10 seasons… CSINY=8 seasons.

  • toadytoady

Perhaps Caruso was happy to end it himself?
    It really was his show.

  • John A

Another surprise renewel. I dont watch either but expected Miami to be axed and Ny to go.

  • Fabrizio

Does it mean Unforgettable is cancelled too?

  • Greg

It’s a shame that CBS has no respect for its audience. If they at least were willing to give both shows a final 10-episode season and premiere them during Survivor and The Amazing Race hiatus.

But I guess that’s what makes them #1. They cut the cord as soon something becomes disposable.

Cbs has made the biggest mistake of this year even surpassing nbc decison to drop the mindy show.

Csi Miami was the only show on all the network to incresa it rating from the crap lead in the good wife got.

Depite being moved to a deadslot it won a timeslot that cbs lost for nearly 8 years to ABC and was the leading factor in killing brothers and sisters, pan am and gcb.

if thesse rumors are not true Csi miami can easlir run for nearly another a five years if moved to tuesday 10 pm and make one cbs headache go way as it did first with monday 10 pm and sunday 10 pm

And finally if this it the end thank you very much David caruso for givvng television the best tv drama on either network and cable

  • zerg

(Un)forgettable and gifted man dead too

  • s0303

i am shocked…i think miami should have been renewed…it increased in ratings over its lead in (about the only 10pm show capable of doing that) and did far better than nyc22 in the same time slot…i think cbs is making a big mistake…

  • jamie

    Big mistake cancelling CSI:Miami.

They should have had it for one more year on Sundya at 9:00pm then moved it to Friday to replace CSI:NY.

CSI:NY is the new One Tree Hill. A series finale every year!

  • Geraint (Wales)

Deadline is reporting that Unforgettable has been canceled to.

  • Marcos

SHOCKER!! I thought Miami would survive cause it’s more iconic and known worldwide than NY

  • katelyn

    @Fabrizio
Unforgettable was just cancelled by CBS.

  • Al

thanks to some low rating emmy awarding crap ( the good wife) and some stupid rebbot of a crap 70 series ( Hawai five oh) has allowed to cancel one of the best show of tv

    thank you cbs
