ABC's Body of Proof turned out to be my biggest prediction miss this season. The only "certain to be canceled" predicted show that was renewed. I'm still not quite sure how it got renewed, and may never know for certain. Looks like its 13 episode order for next season will be used as a schedule filler, likely for a failed rookie drama, or a mid-season replacement.

Other than that I predicted the fate of every other ABC show correctly in the final guesses this season, most long ago.

With that the Index bids the 2011-12 ABC season adieu, there will be no more ABC Renew / Cancel posts until September. Happy summer, ABC!

The Renew / Cancel Index above includes results beginning January 2, 2012. How did ABC's shows stack up based on their Fall results? Click here.

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2012
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2012
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2012

  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2012

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

I don’t think they should have cancelled Body of Proof altogether, I think another network like Cloo or TBS should have picked it up…I think it’s a really good show. I’m glad it was picked up for another season…not to say that after this season it won’t be cancelled.

  • sadams107

I can’t believe they cancelled Missing…that was a really good show. I hope another network picks it up, IJS.

    ONCE UPON A TIME – 21 (-3) I do love it, though
    MODERN FAMILY – 48 (+3)

    quote from OUAT [1.22]:
Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin: I didn’t use all the potion. I saved some for a rainy day.
Emma: Well, it’s storming like a bi+ch. Where is it?

  • Teri

    Keep Missing….please!!!!

  • Hustis Harper

    ONCE UPON A TIME – 24 (+3)
    MODERN FAMILY – 45 (-3)

  • Dennis

    ONCE UPON A TIME – 21 (-3)
    MODERN FAMILY – 48 (+3)

DAM ABC i can think of other shows to cancel then missing and gcb u sick

  • Danielle

I think that was my favorite quote from the whole episode. I love me some pissed-off Emma. :)

  • Nick

    ONCE UPON A TIME – 18 (-3)
    MODERN FAMILY – 51 (+3)

I was going to use that quote. :-P

“Life doesn’t always have a happy ending.”
    – Mary Margaret, OUAT episode 1.22, “A Land Without Magic”

^ Watched that episode last night. AWESOME!!! The effect was kinda ruined, cause Cars 2 came on after I turned the DVR off! lol

Imo ABC should use the timeslot of Castle to Premiere/Promote new shows.I think 4 seasons with whether DWTS or The Bachelor as lead-in:It`s enough help for a show.

  • Gustavo

ABC should change days & Timeslot between:Castle:Monday at 10 and Last Resort:Thursday at:8pm.1°Reason:Last Resort could be a way better contender against hawaii 5-0.2°Castle is near syndication numbers:Therefore doesn`t need so much help to be alive another season.3°reason:We could see that way:The real potential of Last Resort & Castle.Besides:Malibu Country should make the Premiere on September instead of November with MF as lead-in,and leave that crappy show named:The Neighbors for another moment. The neighbors will kill that timeslot and with that would kill:Nashville:Because The Neighbors will be terrible as a lead-in.

  • Gustavo

Another thing ABC should do:It`s change timeslots between:Revenge and 666 Park Avenue.1°reason:Once upon a time and 666 Park Avenue looks like both for same kind of viewers.2°Revenge was already at 10pm and did pretty well against CSI and can do the same against The Mentalist.

    @Danielle and @Nick
Yeah, I laughed hard at that quote when it aired on OUAT. Fantastic episode. Too bad there isn’t more of it on tonight, since it’s over for the summer. @Nick I didn’t like “Cars 2″ much, not as good as the first one. But really looking forward to Cars Land opening at Disney CA Adventure…its bit of Route 66/Radiator Springs is supposed to be “in between” the first and second Cars movies. AFHV will preview bits of it tonight in part two of their season finale (see how I made it come back around to ABC TV there? lol).

  • TE

I had this Body of proof sucked and it got the same rating as The River and The River was better it kept you on your toes and wanting more. they made a big mistake cancelling it and renewing Body of Proof

  • L. Reilly

I can’t remember when I have been so upset at a show being cancelled like Missing. ABC only gave it one season and I was on the edge of my seat through each weekly show. What a shame and also a rather dumb decision on their part. Also, Harry’s Law had great numbers, but of course, their is another dumb decision because the channel wants to be more of a comedy station, can’t they be both, especially when the numbers show Harry’s Law was watched so much. ?????????????

  • Meg Darhart

Missing has not been cancelled. I don’t know where/how these numbers are calculated and where this info comes from.

    ONCE UPON A TIME – 15 (-3)
    MODERN FAMILY – 54 (+3)

“I haven’t felt so nervous since I tried to break up with Claire 20 years ago.”
-Phil Dunphy, from Modern Family episode 3.23 “Tableau Vivant”

  • malachi369

I don’t watch much tv but I did up forward to watching Sean Bean. I thought the show had room for growth. Who doesn’t like a good spy, mole and traitor story. With all the cards on the table, the possibilities were endless. I think ABC is wrong about Missing. They should have let the show run at least two seasons. Maybe another network will pick up the show. u

I love Kerri Washington in Scandal!

  • malachi369

I am looking forward to ABC saying they made a mistake on Missing.

  • Rebecca

    ONCE UPON A TIME – 12 (-3)
    MODERN FAMILY – 57 (+3)

    quote from A23 [1.5]:
Eli: [on phone] Nana, you’re there so they can take care of you. I’m sure they’ll give you bacon if you ask. Put the nurse on the phone….Do not give her bacon. Put her back on….Did you see “Castle” last night? I know, it IS getting better!
