Our Renew / Cancel Index predicts potential renewal or cancellation for scripted broadcast primetime shows by the end of the 2011-12 season in May, 2012. (includes results from January 2- May 13, 2012):

After having them as "toss ups" for renewal or cancellation for most of the year, I predicted cancellation for both Nikita and Hart Of Dixie, and blew both those calls. After being moved to a "toss up" late in the season, I predicted that The Secret Circle would be renewed, and blew that call too. Props to Robert who called both Hart Of Dixie and The Secret Circle correctly, and missed only Nikita.
My guess is that the late season swoon by The Secret Circle killed it, and I have so little experience with shows that have ratings dives late, I was unable to take it fully into account.
5/18 Update: As expected, The L.A. Complex was nowhere to be found on the CW 2012-13 schedule. It will never air during the US broadcast season again. It will live on in Canada, and wouldn't stun me if it aired during the summer in the US, but we will have to wait and see.
While I did get all the other CW show final predictions correct, there are so few of them that's like saying I lost my thumb and index finger, but the rest of my hand was fine. As a network, the CW proved to be collectively my worst predicted this season by a wide margin. Ouch!
With that the Index bids the 2011-12 CW season adieu, there will be no more CW Renew / Cancel posts until September. Happy summer CW!

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Wow!!! You cancelled The Secret Circle, i was really getting into that show. Guess i will only turn to your channel for The People,s Court and America,s Next Top Model, i think these shows are on The CW. Hopefully Syfy will pick up The Secret Circle.

i DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY SHOWS CANCEL SO FAST. I DON’T BELIEVE THEY SHOULD CANCEL THEM WITHOUT TRYING THEM ON A DIFFERENT NIGHT AND POSSIBLY A DIFFERENT TIME SLOT. TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH THERE WERE TOO MANY GOOD SHOWS ON THIS PAST SEASON AND WE DIDN’T GET TO WATCH SEVERAL THAT WE WANTED TO BECAUSE OUR DVR ONLY ALLOWS US TO RECORD TWO SHOWS AT A TIME AND WE HAVE TWO DVRS RECORDING 4 SHOWS SO WE HAVE NO WAY OF DOING MORE AND YOU CANNOT WATCH ANOTHER SHOW WHILE THE DVR IS RECORDING THE TWO SHOWS. bummed about ringer and the secret circle

wait how the hell did The Secret circle get cancelled!! It just started !!I loved that show.. Now we will never get to know what happens.. The books were so good..if the writers had stepped it up and stopped fn around it could have been as successful as Vampire Diaries.. 90210 was renewed ?! who the hell even watches that show?! ugh CW is so disappointing

I’m really going to miss Ringer. I hate when they leave you with a cliffhanger in the season finale and then cancel the show so you never get to see how it plays out.
Sorry to. See Ringer go. It could have been revamped to make it more film nourish and less soapy

Does anyone know exactly why they canceled The Secret Circle it had way better rating then Nikita i loved Nikita at first but TSC way so much better.
Nikita got old i mean it really started to suck and be boring, they could of ended it with that i mean there is so much to go off of with that ending, but TSC that ending plus they renewed the show so early then they decide to axe it? what the hell is wrong with these people?

Omg what a great show, we found it one day just looking around on iTunes and after watching the pilot, we were hooked. We watched all 22 episodes in two days. We love the show!!!!!

Ringer has to renew. Just because the less fortune don’t understand or can’t follow, it needs to be announced on the CW so a poll can be taken by everyone and possibly put the Ringer on s different channel like FX or run shows that going to be cancelled on higher ranked channels and I guarantee the Ringer series will continue to grow.
Bring back secret circle!!!
