Obama Motors strikes again
GM’s Bailout Bucks
Automaker gave seven figures to Dem lobbyists after bailout
General Motors has funneled more than $1 million to two powerhouse Democratic lobbyists since the taxpayers rescued the automaker in 2009.
GM teamed with Navigators Global and the Podesta Group beginning in 2010 and soon arranged six-figure contracts with lobbying teams headed by Democratic bundlers Vin Roberti and Tony Podesta. Each earned top nods from GQ’s Monthly Power List soon after inking the GM contracts.
Roberti has been the automaker’s highest paid lobbyist since 2010. The longtime- Democratic activist and film producer has represented a slew of Democratic allies, pushing for unionization expansion as a UPS lobbyist, which FedEx Corp. called a UPS bailout; broadband internet stimulus for AT&T; and support for the TARP bank bailout on Citigroup’s behalf—the same bailout that would later rescue GM.
The automaker has rewarded Roberti for his efforts.
Roberti, a longtime fundraiser for Sen. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.), the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, merged his lobbying shop with Navigators, a Republican shop, in December 2008. The K Street firm soon cashed in on nearly $400,000 while representing GM, which received more than $70 billion from taxpayers.
The bipartisanship was not to last, however. When Navigators spun off the Democratic lobbyists in 2011, GM followed suit, shifting a lucrative $392,500 contract to the newly formed Roberti and Associates. The firm has earned $80,000 from GM so far in 2012, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
“If Obama were a Republican, the entire world would know every detail of his life. The media would be spending countless amounts of money going back however many years to find out whatever kind of dirt there was on Obama.” -Rush Limbaugh
RUSH: ”
You know, this Reverend Wright stuff with Barack Obama, it’s back in the news again. Something is happening. It’s anecdotal, but I happen to think that this might be applicable in a statistical way to the nation at large. We played the audio sound bite from Obama reading from one of his books a couple of weeks ago, in which he admitted bullying a young girl, in which he admitted trying cocaine, admitted that he drank a lot, basically just lollygagged around. I know we’ve got new listeners to this program. It’s been documented by the official ratings companies that monitor such things.
There are tons and tons of new listeners, but even at that, I’m overwhelmed by the number of people — we’re three-and-a-half years into his regime, and I’m getting e-mails from people that the first time they’d heard he’d done cocaine was in the past two, three weeks. The first time they’d heard that he had bullied a young girl. They didn’t know his college transcripts hadn’t been released. They just assumed all that had happened and they missed it. They didn’t know any of this.
Now, we know Obama wasn’t vetted. We know the mainstream media has done everything they can to protect him. But the Reverend Wright stuff was out there. I’m even getting e-mail from people who had not heard all the Reverend Wright stuff. New listeners, not people who listen to this program regularly. New listeners say they’re hearing this for the first time. I’m getting e-mails from people like we got when we were in the first year or first two years of the program. “My gosh, I found you the other day driving around. I couldn’t get anything else on the radio, and I’m hooked now.” Similar comments from customers at Two If By Tea who are finding the program for the first time and learning stuff about Obama that we’ve all known for four years. They’re just now hearing about it.”

“But there was another story in the Ed Klein book that Obama was talking to Wright one day, Reverend Wright, and said, “You know, Reverend, your problem is you have to tell the truth. As a politician, I don’t. I don’t have to tell the truth. I can make the truth whatever I want it to be.” It’s not on tape, but Klein claims that Obama said that to Wright.”
Rush:
“There is a decent amount of corruption in this regime, and people are just now coming to that hearing about this for the first time in their lives. So the media essentially worked for Senator Obama and helped him run right over Hillary Clinton. By the way, I wouldn’t be surprised — I don’t know, I’m just speculating — I wouldn’t be surprised some of this stuff that we’re now learning about Obama, may be the Clintons are behind it. Bill said he wants to go back to the White House. Bill said he thinks Hillary ought to be in there. Bill went out there again and undercut Obama this week on taxes, said the middle class is gonna have to pay more taxes. And Obama’s out there trying to convince the middle class they’re never gonna pay another dime, that it’s only the rich. In fact, Obama is out there complaining about the rich in this country because there are people starving in Kenya. His relatives are still in the huts over in Kenya. His relatives are still starving.”
Rush:
“Here’s the Brokaw and Rose clip. Now, I want to set this up for you. This is October 31st, 2008. This is less than a week before the election of 2008.
ROSE: I don’t know what Barack Obama’s worldview is.
BROKAW: No, I don’t, either.
ROSE: I don’t know how he really sees where China is.
BROKAW: We don’t know a lot about Barack Obama and the universe of his thinking about foreign policy.
ROSE: I don’t really know. And do we know anything about the people who are advising him?
BROKAW: Yeah, it’s an interesting question.
ROSE: He is principally known through his autobiography and through very aspirational (sic) speeches.
BROKAW: Two of them! I don’t know what books he’s read.
ROSE: What do we know about the heroes of Barack Obama?
BROKAW: There’s a lot about him we don’t know.
RUSH: Less than a week before the election, and these two guys are two of the biggest Obama supporters there can be. They’re journalists, they have to be, there’s no other candidate they would support. Certainly not George W. Bush. They’re in the tank for Obama, and they don’t know him, and they are journalists, and they’re the guys that have a constitutional duty to tell us who he is. They are supposed to hold people who have power or who seek power, they are to hold those people accountable. When I first heard that sound bite, I was incredulous. That’s grounds for being fired.”

House GOP leaders order Holder to cooperate on gun-running probe
Demand aid in investigation of Fast & Furious program
House Republican leaders on Friday sent a letter to Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. demanding he comply with the GOP’s official investigation into Obama administration gun-running operation Fast & Furious, which allowed hundreds of guns to be sneaked across the border to Mexican cartels.
In the letter, Speaker John A. Boehner and his top lieutenants warn that the House will be prepared to “act to fulfill our constitutional obligations” — which could include holding Mr. Holder in contempt of Congress — and said he cannot hide behind separation of powers arguments.
The letter says Americans have lost confidence in the Justice Department’s leaders to be able to straighten the situation out themselves — though it does not call for Mr. Holder to step down
“normal individuals watch CNN,MSNBC,HLN,CNBC”
Brad old thing, hate to break this to you, but ‘normal’ is just a setting on a dryer.
MSNBC and CNN are serious news stations. Their news segments try to be as factual as news should be. They don’t make things up just for ratings. They can’t compete with the talk-shows on FOX, where every fake story is fine.
Its scary to me the number of people like georgieboy there are out there. Georgie, name a fake story.
i for one sure hope that obama is reelected he is awesome !! by far the best president ever !! and just look at the folks he has in charge of all those important areas of goverment ? we are all very proud to have eric holder as the top law man in the land right ? CNN has become “the Cause of the Week” service. People want news and in depth, intelligent discussion of the news. Background information from people who know. Not predictable party liners or “cause” advocates who say nothing useful. Even MSNBC gives other news at times. Memo to CNN: when you fall behind MSNBC it’s time to clean house and change your style. It’s one thing to say you have journalist standards for hard news, it’s another thing to practice it .
