And it’s no coincidence that the January 25, 2012 episode was Emily Prentiss centric and this one was Emily’s goodbye. CBS really screwed up on not treating Paget Brewster better. She was a ratings draw for them but they never appreciated her for that. Instead, they and Erica Messer decided to throw their lot into the wrong places.

Although I agree with you 100% that CBS shold have treated Paget alot better, this epsiode was all AJ Cook! She held her own last night and really proved what both her and Paget are worth to CM… even if CBS is too stupid to see it.

I had stopped watching Criminal Minds years ago when the level of graphic violence increased to the point of nausea. I love Joe Montagna’s work, but when Mandy Patinkin takes a role, no one could really replace his character.

But, I’ll tell you one thing that I discovered on a dating site last year. Women LOVE Criminal Minds, with the NCIS programs a close second. A “What are your favorite TV shows” question was on the prospective dates’ background form.

Food For Thought, gentlemen. WHY are women so interested in a program about serial killers? Is it another “How To?” ;-) ;-) ;-)

  • Criminal Mind Dumber

Worst Criminal Minds to date. Completely implausible storyline…Spiderman’s not available: Let’s call the profilers!!! AJ Cook & Paget Brewster(worst hair on TV BTW) are minor characters not essential to any of the plots. CBS could replace them with Muppets & still have a show. Anyone notice the teasers for the finale? “One of these profilers will be gone”, then an explosion! CBS wants you to tune in to watch one of the main characters get killed! I’ll never watch CM again. It was good years ago, but it’s time has past.

  • Don’t mention it

I’ve the impression CM sells their audience for stupid. With a memory capacity of zero, 2 sec pass and everything is cleared. They’re over the highest point. Probably many middle aged female viewers gasp to see some skin of the males. Season 7 gave them the pleasure. Result, the other viewers left and only came back to see what kind of exit Prentiss got. Satisfied? Not really, there is absolutly no garantie Prentiss will ever be back on CM screen. Screwed up.

I watch CM for Reid, I love this character! But I am not looking for skin. I like him because he’s smart, capable, and yet vulnerable at times. I like his connection with Morgan like brothers and his scenes with Hotch as his supervisor. I enjoy Reid’s contributions to the resolution of the cases.

I did find the finale a disappointment even though I was expecting it to be one with all of the emphasis on JJ and Prentiss. I really wanted a cliffhanger like “Who Shot JR” that would keep us interested and talking all summer. I can’t believe some people really liked this episode for a season finale. It would have better served as just one of the regular episodes. A finale should be much more exciting! The earlier seasons delivered. The last three years did not in my opinion.

I still love CM though and will watch all of Season 8 provided Matthew Gray Gubler is back as Reid. I watch the show for him after all!

I do think CM can last several more seasons if the writers put effort into the scripts and really stay true to the characters and the history of the show. Sadly, they don’t invest in Reid the way us viewers do. They just make promises for stories for Spencer and then don’t deliver. I waited all season for them to follow up on the headaches storyline and they didn’t even address it after telling us it would be fully explored and we would get answers. And that’s just one example. The least they could have done was center the finale around Reid and lead into a storyline for him next season. But they didn’t even give us that. To me, that made the finale much less interesting right from the start. I kept waiting for a surprise that I knew deep down wouldn’t air. And, of course, it didn’t. A dull wedding didn’t cut it for me.

So are they canceling Criminal Minds? I rush home every Wednesday night to watch my Criminal Minds, I hope they didn’t cancel it. Please advise if they are.

  • Monkey

They couldn’t centre the finale around Reid to lead him into the next season. MGG has yet to sign on, so they can’t depend on his continued presence.

I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED “JOE MONTEGA” BUT HE REALLY LOOKS BETTER WITHOUT THAT SO-CALLED BEARD HE HAS BEEN TRYING TO GROW. I WOULD TELL HIM EITHER GROW IT OR SHAVE IT. IT LOOKS LIKE HE RAN INTO SOME DUST AND FORGOT TO WASH HIS FACE. I MEAN IT WOULD LOOK BETTER IF HE WOULD LET SOMEONE THAT KNOWS ABOUT BEARDS” HE NEVER LOOKS NEAT, IT LOOKS LIKE HE IS BETWEEN GROWING ONE ALL THE TIME, BUT IT NEVER GROWS OUT…WHAT’S UP JOE…GIVE US AN ANSWER!!!!!1-904-554-0787

Woah seriously?! Why are people so negative?! It was the best finale they have ever done, and although I am sad to see Prentiss leave, it was a brilliant ending! And as for JJ and Prentiss being minor characters – do you even watch the show? Please tell me how they are minor?! Criminal Minds is still the best show on TV, and if people can’t see that then it’s their loss :)
