Continuing with the night-by-night look at the fall schedule, we move to Friday night.  Friday is sometimes scoffed at as a wasteland night when nobody watches television. Less people watch television on Friday, but only around 15% less than the typical Thursday. That still leaves a lot of people, but most of them are usually watching something other than the English broadcast networks.

This Fall the night will initially include 8 hours of scripted television (same as last Fall) on the broadcast nets with one new scripted series. Last Man Standing and Malibu Country are scheduled to move into the ABC 8pm slot in November, upping the scripted total to 9 hours and two new shows.

The new series are CBS's Made In Jersey at 9pm and later ABC's Malibu Country at 8:30pm. Perhaps CBS learned their lesson with A Gifted Man that premiering a new drama on Friday at 8pm isn't such a good idea.

Fringe being in its final season, and the move of Supernatural to Wednesday will likely dampen interest around here on Saturday mornings in the Fall, but we may make up for a little bit of the traffic from anxious Community fans, and maybe a handful of Touch fans. A potential traffic windfall for us would be if Grimm ratings stumble early, it could become the next traffic Fringe or Chuck.

If you're looking for other nights of the week, be patient.  We'll post one per day through next Wednesday and then you'll have them all.  You can find them (including Thursday night) here.

Take a trip down memory lane with last season's 2011-12's Friday night schedule:

    I’m just not as enthused about Friday’s as I have been.

  • Scott

    Is Supernatural on Fridays going to be a second airing? The show was moved to Wednesdays

  • Chuck_T

    CBS will win the night in total numbers and might win in 18-49 but NBC might do ok with it’s 8-9 pm comedies especially if their fans follow them. Grimm, I think, will still be solid for NBC with 1.5 or so 18-49.

  • Scott

    Sorry my bad, was reading to old schedule by mistake.

  • AO

    @ Scott,

    You’re looking at the wrong schedule. The top one is next year, the bottom one is this past year.

    “Is Supernatural on Fridays going to be a second airing? The show was moved to Wednesdays”

    You’re looking at last year’s schedule at the bottom of the post. The new schedule is at the top.

    Nikita is still on Friday, I think that’ll help the site traffic too, especially if it starts hitting 0.3…

  • Mark Wilkins

    Damn, Friday is still jam packed at least for the Fall. Any news on what’s gonna replace Fringe after the 13-episode finale?

  • gregg

    i like fridays because i enjoy shark tanks thrilling ride and top it off with What would yoou do. both shows are the best of friday nights

  • Mi

    The only show I’ll watch on Friday is Grimm.

    Prediction – Nikita will continue its downfall but the CW will still renew it and will pair it with another show that does meh for the 2013-2014 seson (ANTM will last one cycle and will be replaced by either Cult or the 2 comedies the CW are working on these days during midseason.)

    @Mark Wilkins

    Kitchen Nightmare will air after Fringe I beleive

  • Bunny

    I have a feeling LMS and Malibu Country might not be on Fridays and will eventually move to Tuesdays to replaced to failing shows prob around October or Novembers..ABC’s pan B

    “Kitchen Nightmare will air after Fringe I beleive”

    No, it will be Hell’s Kitchen, but I get those two confused all the time. Since I don’t watch either, they are just “shows with Kitchen in the title” to me. ;)

    Quite a reasonable guess that they will be used elsewhere.

  • Mary

    I’m shocked that CSI: NY is on at 8pm. With the excpetion of NCIS, they don’t normally put crime shows on at 8.

    The only shows I’ll be watching will be Grimm and Blue Bloods. I may DVR Made in Jersey. I wasn’t planning to but the video preview looked pretty good.

    @Mark

    I seem to recall them saying Gordon Ramsey’s shows would come on after Fringe left.

  • TomSFBay

    ABC will win in the demo up until November, at which time their comedies will doom them.

  • Avery

    It’s Friday night,
    And the mood is right…
    Gonna have some fun,
    Show you how it’s done, TGIF…
    TGIF!

  • Tony

    I think Fringe’s demo avg will increase for its final season..
    Better lead in and less genre competition

  • Hades

    @Bill

    Thanks. I knew it was something that took place in a kitchen.
