GH is rockin’ like Dokken! From the mix and balance of characters, writing, acting, down to the lighting and makeup! WOW! Today’s epi was must-see for any soap fan.

COMING SOON Don’t miss the sequel to “BRIDE OF CHUCKY” It’s coming to Daytime Ratings boards near you! Titled “Chuckys Cousin Comes to TBTN. In the continueing campy style Chuckys cousin Soapfan92 AKA Kindergarten Flunky poses as an adult (although not very believeable in the role) and graces soap ratings sites with his childish wit. While this sequel is not yet rated it is not recommended for people who have an ounce of intelligence.

I”m just gonna talk about about what I think is right about GH, at the moment. The direction, music, technical aspect of the show are outstanding. Short, fast, crisply edited scenes that create tension and suspense. Humor is back. I couldn’t GH for a long time because it was like going to a wake. So solemn, dark, and worst dull. Much more balance: Not less Sonny or Jason per se, but more of everybody else. Purge: People who cost the show a ton of money, and take away valuable screen time from core charachters. I’m glad Helena(puhleez somebody kill her for real, permanantly), Ethan(will be back), Woman in White(couldn’t die soon enuf), Anthony(eh,got Todd now), Robin(liked her as a kid though)Matt(just don’t really care about him) Soon to be gone: Johnny(unredeemable not that he killed 3 people, including a child, which in daytime gets you written off unless you’re Luke) Yes, there are still kinks to be worked out, but the sinking ship that GH was has been put in drydock and is getting patched. Just hope it’s enuf to keep it’s renewal.

I absolutely LOVE Days of Our Lives…it is by far the best soap on tv. And I disagree with the person who wrote that the actor playing John Black is not a good actor. I think Drake is great at his craft, from one actor to another. The one actor on Days who is questionable is the actor playing Roman. His phrasing feels/sounds very stilted and unnatural. Years ago he played Chris Kosicheck on Days and he was much better in that role. The original actor (Wayne Northrup) who played Roman was, by far, the best and only true Roman in my mind/heart. Wish he’d come back.

Also, I disagree with the suggestion that the soaps should focus on the younger characters and forget the older ones. I ADORE the older actors as a whole and love when they are featured in the story lines. Often I find the younger actors to be more boring, though I am thoroughly enjoying Chandler Massey in his emmy-nominated performance as Will in the gay storyline. That is a great plot and phenomenal performances by Chandler and Deidre Hall, etc.

    Go DAYS!

SoapFan92, you give true soap fans a bad name. Your rants are a boring waste of space. Have you ever considered editing your dubious “thoughts?”

  • Chrisann D

To all posters besides YOU know who you are.

I am sorry for getting caught up in the drama with he who from now on will never be mentioned or responded to or by me again. I just couldn’t resist one last time. So again sorry but UGGGHHHHH he is an irratating little……. well fill in the blank.

  • Chrisann D

Hi Regina, I better leave you know who alone…its unfair to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person. Besides its never too late to change my evil ways!

Looking forward to GH today. Love the Friday cliffhangers.

  • Richard

Chrisann, In the midst of all the crazy stuff did you see that it was OLTL who had the animated stuff? It was in 1992. I just saw the promos back then. Was just wondering if it was any good if anyone saw it and how in the world did the animated stuff fit in with the other stuff.

I will agree with you about Friday cliffhangers. I have always loved them. And GH has had some great ones through the years.

Anyway I am off to the deck to read awhile. Wife will be home in an hour or two to start the wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Of course I have to take time off from my Evil Superhero job of destroying all daytime soap operas in the midst of my other 2 jobs of working for ABC and Nielsen.

Kayla Rae, I don’t know anything about Days or the actors you are referring to other than Josh Taylor who played on that Valerie Harper sitcom and was pretty good in it. But I do agree with you about loving the older actors and characters. It comes a time when they can’t be the lead at all times but they do need to be there to provide continuity and all. The older actors on GH are still some of my favorites.

I have been trying my best to live up to my deal with MBMom to watch GH — at least some and give it a chance. The only parts I enjoy right now are scenes that feature Anna, Luke, Mac, Tracy, etc. and anytime in the last few years that they actually let Monica have scenes have been the highlights of my GH watching.

  • Chrisann D

Richard, I didn’t see any OLTL aniamated stuff…I am tryng to think back to 1992. I think that was around the time there was alot going on. Now that I have more info I’ll see if I can look it up on YouTube.

I just wish I could keep my hands clean and not let myself get dragged into the mud. While you and I disagree on alot of points of view and have had our….spats at least we can overcome them and be civil. We can still disagree with each other without being disagreeable. I read back and think Righton was being very civil and continued to be so I don’t get what happened. There were a couple others too that started out ok and something happened….all you know what broke loose.

  • John

@EJ: I’m waiting for the “who shot Richard” episode of this little ongoing drama. There seems to be a surfeit of potential suspects.

  • Richard

Chrisann, I don’t have any problems with people like Righton, etc. They are passionate about their shows and that is fine. I love to discuss the shows. I do say I hate it when someone can’t see past their show to just discuss it. At the end of the day the show is a TV show and not everyone is going to agree on it. Some do seem to lose the connection of it being a TV show and not them or their child. I think that is why some like to use the term delusional — because that sort of fits if you can’t differentiate between real and fiction.

I can’t understand that as I have loved a lot of TV shows but I have never once loved one enough that I can’t accept criticism of that TV show.

Anyway I tried to look around briefly on You Tube for the animated stuff — couldn’t find any of it either. Which probably wouldn’t mean anything to me since I don’t know the characters beyond what little I have seen of Starr on GH. I still think of what I have seen of her brother in the Angelina Jolie movie — he is by far the better actor of the two IMO. I could honestly see him from that movie actually playing one of Sonny’s children on GH. But that might be too weird since his sister plays one of Sonny’s arch enemies on the show. But alas that would be giving Sonny even more story potential. LOL

Anyway so much for what used to be a good board to have banter about the soaps. All this stuff of the past few days has not even made the board enjoyable to read anymore. But I refuse to let them run me off. So I will stick around for the childish shenanigans until these children get tired of playing and finally let the adults have the board back. So much for trying to discuss the ratings when the board posts them.

  • Chrisann D

Richard, LOL I IMO have been one of the children…..it was fun to visit my childhood but I will try and stay an adult! But the good thing is we have been good entertainment for some newcomers….LOL what they must think!!! If this was the first time I came to this site I can’t imagine what I would think. I also wonder what the moderaters of this site must be thinking. LOL LOL LOL

  • Chrisann D

Regina, Some time later today or tomorrow morning. They may have thm out on other sites but don’t know.

  • Richard

The ratings for The Talk, The Chew and all those have been released but the soap opera ratings have not been so far. Soap Opera Network is the place everybody gets them from and they do not have them yet.

Sometimes on holiday weekends they don’t get them til late on Friday. The guy over there says he posts them as soon as he gets them.

  • Dave.A

The ratings for last week are now posted on Soap Opera Network. It was a bad week for the soaps.

B&B is the only soap to see an increase with total viewers. All four soaps are down in the 18-49 category. GH is back in the dead last position (except in the 18-49 category).

  • Pat

That site where Marc Berman reports the network talk show ratings continues to be a colossal joke.

Memo to Mr. Berman – Here’s a novel concept: How about just listing the ratings and letting readers draw their own conclusions about what the numbers mean? And I keep getting a good laugh from those same looney, delusional ABC soap fans that comment. It’s the same whining over and over and over. The fact that no dissenting comments are displayed on his page just proves how biased Berman is pro-soaps. This guy calls himself a journalist? Really?

  • Dave.A

Actually, Berman finally posted the three comments from Richard for the May 17th ratings. In fact, one of the posters even answered to Richard, though the answer didn’t make a lot of sense.

  • Richard

I didn’t even realize he ever posted them Dave.A

I am very surprised he did.

I saw the ratings but didn’t make any comment so far. Glad you did. Definitely not a good week for the soaps.

  • Richard

Pat, I still do agree that he is no journalist. His posts in those concerns is very biased.

  • Chrisann D

Too Bad the soaps went down. Hope it dosen’t continue. I haven’t been to Marc B site in forever.
