Strange to see Pauly D up. Maybe MTV might actually renew the show.
Punk’d was hilarious last night. Miley was a great host. Glad ratings went up in total viewers from last week.
Ugh no their ratings are terrible totally below mtv’s expectations.
Yeah, they DEF expected a lot more for Punk’d (Pauly D too.) Add this to the criticism they are getting for Pants cancellation (which had better numbers than these btw), and tough week for mtv. Luckily they have new shows on next month.
OK, NBA Playoffs will be winning the night for the rest of the season. But I wonder what will happen when the Heat, LeBron & Lakers, Kobe are eliminated. Will anybody watch?
NBA, who cares about anything else after that? Nothing but garbage on cable today
@tatiG. Great point, you know Comm Stern is very concerned. Perhaps if he had not vetoed that Chris Paul trade, the Lakers would be in better shape.
@tatiG
Probably not. I just hope both teams can get back on track in each of their series. Not looking good for either the Heat or Lakers right now.
i think MTV is worried about JWOWW spinoff bombing ..snookie will need to carry show but no smushing & drinking makes for bad ratings..but different side of snookie..
I should have posted this here instead of on Wednesday’s comments…. – well here goes again (with slight modifications)
============================================================================
Whoopsie….lookout! here comes the passive aggressives! – Yo tatiG & USAmerica1st that means you!
You really are hockey fans grinding yo teeth with frustration ain’t ya! – I know you.
Just that you know the ridicule that’s gonna smack you in the face if you come bloviating here the usual NHL nonsense that you really want to say. LOL! I know there are many like you feeling the same way and just gnashing at these numbers and posts that mock the NHL and its little also-ran league.
But NUMBERS DON’T LIE so sit yo azz down and take yo medicine! be good for you in the end:)
The typical hockey-fan passive-aggressive poster (and I’ve seen a few here since I started posting) does this:-
Say something a little bit critical towards the NBA while conceding the reality of its dominance of the ratings but at the same time do the best to ‘hide’ hockey comparisons or point to its comparatively poor performance. It’s a tightrope for them and they often lose it and cannot quite hide the anti-NBA bile or a little exaggeration on behalf of their favorite sport.
Am I right tatiG & USAmerica1st – you know I am – As I said I know you hockey-fanbois and your four character-types (been studying you a long time).
- The advocate – say, do anything to get hockey respect vs the NBA
- The bigot – follows and obsesses over hockey as a ‘white’ sport
- The purist – simple lover of the sport by exposure or experience
- The native – relate to hockey as culture, nurtured around it
Hockey fans fall into one or more of these categories to different degrees – man I could write a treatise!!! – which combo is likely to make passive aggressive posts like tatiG & USAmerica1st’s?
And lest we forget….

NBCSN NHL CONFERENCE FINALS L 9:00 PM 0.827 0.4 – whewww!!!
…everyone can now see why ESPN got rid of that stinker!
I love seeing Charmed and Supernatural in the chart.
Torrid’s obsession with the NHL is rather sad.
But if you consider yourself accomplished for beating out a series featuring the Phoenix market (LOL) where they’re getting the floor wiped with them, that’s your problem.
Go see a therapist.
By the way, ESPN made the NHL a contract offer in 2011, the NHL turned it down.
“Torrid’s obsession with the NHL is rather sad” – truedat Matt!
Just reflecting (in the other direction) what I’ve seen on many sports boards/forums from hockey fans for years against anything NBA – get it?
Only thing is this I’m enjoying this! did’nt know its sooo much fun!!! only difference is I don’t have to spin or lie against the NHL – the actual numbers speak for themselves – Booyah!!
You do know Matt that ESPN really did’nt fight to win the NHL in 2011 – it was a token, not too serious, low-ball offer, almost similar in feel to what they offered Bettman after the lockout, Bettman took offense and left then as we all know and ESPN did not pursue him or change it’s mind.
That 2011 offer was not really that of the World Leader in sports pursuing a hot, must-have property, it was an attempt to pick up something on the cheap, because that’s how ESPN and most media (who are not desperate NBC) view the NHL – sorry to bust ya bubble fella!
Torrid was annoying before, but I actually find his post amusing now (exactly grammar, too).
“By the way, ESPN made the NHL a contract offer in 2011, the NHL turned it down.”
This was because ESPN was going to pay them on performance, if I remember correctly, and this would have cost the NHL a lot of money if their ratings were not good. But, it also could have made them a lot of money if they were good. The NHL decided not to take that chance, which was smart, and they are where they are now.
The NHL will grow, but it will hit a ceiling soon because this generation coming up is being dominated by latinos and a larger percentages of the black population also. It would be impossible for the NHL to get the top 4 in the future, because soccer will get in that 4 spot once they can get them focused on teams here instead of them still focusing on other teams. Our Spanish networks already show the audience is there and they only need to direct their attention.
*excellent
It’s strange to see Supernatural getting a 0.3 at 11am in the morning, but struggling to get more than double that in primetime for an original episode.
If you add up all of those 18-49 ratings (assuming I haven’t made an error), it comes to 51.6. Just goes to show how split and fragmented the TV landscape is, because the vast majority of those in list above are 0.3′s and 0.4′s.
It’s really just the NBA and the rest of the shows.
The NHL can score big with a LA Kings vs. New York Rangers Stanley Cup Final.
Impact Wrestling going live will boost their numbers this summer.
This is easy:
David – category 2 (see above)
Cute. But, I am actually an NBA fan (which is kind of obvious from my past post) and I do not even watch hockey. If I fall into that category and I am not a hockey fan your logic might be flawed.
However, it is simple logic that hockey is a VAST MAJORITY white sport and this is why I talked about the ceiling it will reach with upcoming generations. Trying to pretend that other races are big numbers in hockey is like trying to convince me that rugby has a diverse fanbase. Hockey could diversify, but the equipment is too expensive for a lot of kids to be able to play. This is why I love basketball, soccer, and baseball (not watching, just as an activity) because they allow people to do quick pickup games. You can do this with football also, but you are more likely to get hurt.
All that being said, your trolling is still humorous.
A likely misunderstanding then David … if so apologies – if not then ‘a pox on ye and your house!’
