Continuing the night-by-night look at the fall schedule, we move to Monday night.  ABC is keeping the exact same lineup as Fall 2011 and CBS is close, with only the new comedy  Partners at 8:30p, and 2 Broke Girls moving to the tentpole 9pm spot after the Thursday move of Two And A Half Men.

NBC brings The Voice into the Fall, followed by new drama Revolution at 10pm. For NBC's sake, I hope it lasts longer than The Playboy Club did.

We can only hope we'll get a little Revolution fan chatter joining the Castle v. Hawaii Five-0 trash talk on Tuesday mornings.

The CW moves Gossip Girl an hour later than last Fall for its final season (not clear on the episode count) and brings 90210 into the night. The Carrie Diaries is scheduled to enter the night after Gossip Girl is done.

Nothing nearly as newsworthy on the night for Fox as Terra Nova was last Fall, but rookie The Mob Doctor will follow Bones.

Take a trip down memory land with 2011's Monday Fall schedule:

  • Tom

ABC: DWTS up 0.2-0.3 from Fall due to stronger lineup, Castle essentially static.
CBS: HIMYM static, Partners mid 2s (does it make it to Feb sweeps?), 2BG down a couple tenths from 2.5, M&M down a couple tenths from last year. H50 down a couple tenths – probably moving next season.
Fox: Bones in low 2s, MD probably not hitting 2. Look for a lot of chatter on when/if Touch moves here.
NBC: Voice’s early numbers down a bit, but later numbers flat. Revolution premiere the highest (or second highest, depending on what airs after Spring Voice premiere) rated scripted hour for NBC; settles in low 2s. Lots of chatter on where it gets scheduled for Spring.
    CW: 90210 0.5-0.6, GG 0.4-0.5.

NBC wins, CBS second, though ABC not far behind. Fox clearly fourth, CW last.

I will watch:8:00 How i met your mother.Than something i have on my dvr.

“Partners mid 2s (does it make it to Feb sweeps?)”

Definitely some ratings pressure on Partners.

CBS has 2 sitcoms scheduled for mid-season and place for only one if Partners fails.

I can see them keeping one of those sitcoms off the schedule entirely if Partners fails, but might they replace a failed drama with two sitcoms if Partners doesn’t fail?

@joseph. Yeah and I don’t normally mind plot holes (I watched terra Nova and HFO for gods sakes) but they do look kind of epic.

I think it will either be amazing or flat out terrible and I just can’t tell which. Of course it could just be middle ground meh like Terra Nova or flash forward.

@Holly. And don’t get me started on why they’re using muskets from the 1600’s or something? It just all seems a bit all over the place.

“I like you fear that the plot holes are going to be horrific when it comes to Revolution.”

I didn’t watch the trailer, but was near complete human extinction part of the story? Certainly that would happen were electricity to suddenly be unavailable.

  • Gustavo

    Tuesday:8:30 Ben & Kate,9:00 Emily Owens. Wednesday:9:00 Criminal Minds.10:00 Nashville.DvR:Chicago Fire & Psych (USA).

  • Tom

What’s especially odd is CBS mentioning they have 5 or 6 comedies still in development. Where on earth would they put them?

I mean, sure, if everything new fails they could revive Four Comedy Thursday in Spring (though that level of major restructuring is very un-CBS), or if NY stays low 1s and Jersey is DOA, they could make a one hour block on Friday, along with UB and Blue Bloods, but all scenarios require large chunks of the Fall schedule failing. Why advertise that?

Not that this has anything to do with Mondays, aside from guessing if/what replaces Partners.

  • SmG

Greenblatt said The Voice fall cycle will start at the 10th of September at the upfronts. So, I think we can say that that will be the premiere date of The Revolution as well ?

  • Mi

@SmG yes, I think so, but they might show half of the pilot during the Olympics (as far as I remember, Greenblatt said a full comedy pilot and half an hour of a drama pilot would be sampled during the Olympics before their official premiere. If Revolution is that drama, I hope it doesn’t impact its premiere.)

  • Tim

With CBS having more sitcoms for midseason and a few more episodes of ROE, I think CBS has no much hope on Partners.
I think CBS is more interested on Thursdays now than on Mondays and that’s why they moved THM there, as a lead in for POI that will be a monster, helping then, Elementary, CBS most buzzed drama this season.
Instead they r premiering a not good looking sitcom as Partners on Monday. Same as they did in previous years with Sxx my Dad, How to be a gentleman, or Rob on Thusdays.
CBS is investing on Thursdays now and premiering the probably flop sitcoms on Mondays.

  • Judas The Nightmare

    Bones=The Best Show EVER!

  • tv log

D W T S producers better recruit first round eliminators in its first all star edition! If not! D W T S’ rating will slide down last place between The Amazing Race and Survivors! All talented dancing or choreographic fast learning stars show might draws less interest! Geriatric wrestling show like D W T S needs jobbers! Do anyone remember any season of D W T S having no jobbers (Wendy Williams or Steve Wozniak type dancers) in its 14 cycles run! Now Dance off of 2005 drew well but it ran two weeks!

  • bluejays

@Tim. That is crazy talk. CBS are taking a risk with Mondays yes (because they clearly believe they’re strong enough to cope with it) and have moved to shore up support for Thursdays which were weak for them this year with the exception of BBT. But to say that they ‘don’t care about Mondays and is investing in Thursdays’ is just silly.

They care about all the nights of the week and must be pretty confident in Partners. Of course it could still be a huge mis-fire but no way are they just placing a comedy they expect to flop on Mondays. Lol.

  • V

Revolution is Kripke first big project, if he keeps it more mainstream and NBC doesn’t meddle, it’s this years Terra Nova.

  • Googleyes

    I want Revolution to succeed.
    But I suspect it wont.

I’ve found that I actually like that NBC does try to take chances be it with Kings, Smash, The playboy club, Awake, and now Revolution. At least they do different shows that aren’t a Doc Cop Lawyer Agent slutty housewives shows.

  • Dwayne

hey look nothing to watch on monday.

ok maybe revolution, before it is cancelled!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Benjamin

It’ll snow in Death Valley on the Fourth of July before network television renews a thoughtful science fiction show like Revolution.

  • Benjamin

Seriously, why the TV networks even bother with science fiction for a U.S. audience is beyond my understanding. Viewers want:
    1) Faux “reality shows”
    2) Fat people desperately trying to lose weight
    3) “Insta-Star” contests
    4) Maybe a police procedural or two

If it doesn’t fit that mold…fahgettaboutit! Nielsen says no way, Jose.

  • Harmiel

I’ll probably watch Bones and Mob Doctor (I will miss House).I think Touch will be doing great here but Fox will not risk their new drama in ‘Faint Friday’. I will check Revolution and hope it survives. I like sci-fi shows but unlikely to survive.

  • Petar

    @Tim who said:
Revolution is going to be a hit. This is the type of show JJ Abrams does well and the type of show young viewers love.

I will help you here – key word is “entertaining”! Thats why young&teens like it, watch movies like hunger games etc. People want to be entertain.
I think we desperately need a good and entertaining drama hit. The premiere will be like hollywood movie hits this year(the hunger games/the avengers)- HUGE. If NBC don’t make some stuped mistake to air it in olympics. Revolution doesn’t need from that platform! They don’t need from AD at all! NBC can save their money! Its most buzz show already with 7 000 000 views for the trailer om you tube. With 1 or 2 promos they will be all ight. Than the storyline will be the most important thing. And writers of course! Abrams is genius(may be smartest guy in hollywood) and he create so many star writers: alias&fringe – Andre Nemec, Alex Kurtzman&Roberto Orci(work on movies like spiderman), lost -Damon Lindelof(work with Abrams movies, once producer), Adam Horowitz(once) now is Eric Kripke time. Revolution can turn out next LOST! If was on CBS or FOX. Not on NBC. But on NBC can be hit drama.

They must keep these 2 songs from trailer for theme in the show! Espessaly two steps from the hell song – heart of courage! Greate choice guys.
