Rules of Engagement has been renewed by CBS for a 13 episode seventh season, and will return in mid-season 2012-13.

Whatever heart palpitations were caused for fans when it was nowhere to be found on the CBS 2012-13 schedule announced last week can now be calmed.

    i expected it to return

But where? They have only one new comedy this fall and if this one bombs, they still have another new comedy. If it does not bomb, they will have no space for the new comedy or RoE. HIMYM, 2BG, M&M, TBBT and TaahM will run the whole season.

    Yay

  • JDinCanada

how many total eps does that give them now ?

  • Ryne

I think right now 87 so if they come back at mid season for 13 it would give them an even 100

Heart Palpations?? For Rules??? You must be kidding lol. I guess Rules is CBS’s Mad About You, which even Warren Littlefield said that nobody really liked and that it’s numbers weren’t good but it was still their ultimate utility player back in the 90′s.

Sony is relentless with their shows good for them!

Unpopular opinion: I’m glad Sony let go of Dan Harmon!

PLUS , don’t forget there are another 5 Comedy Pilots currently in production at CBS , this was part of the info released at the Upfront.

Although this show has been consistently renewed, I honestly think they have ruined its chances of becoming an actual solid show with very good ratings instead of OK ones. They kept switching its timeslot, giving it uneven numbers of episodes each season and never let any proper storylines build up. They never let it just sit somewhere and build a fanbase. Despite it all though, it has consistently delivered in ratings and while CBS will not admit it, RoE is their safety show that covers up the holes made by its comedies that flop!

Yes this is the news I needed for my Monday I can’t wait for it to come back hopefully it comes back sooner than January or March. YEAH Rules of Engagement!!!!!!

  • David

If they got rid of David Spade, this would be a much, much better show.

  • Alex

Happy for the show. They should expect it to end at 100 episodes. Hopefully they write it that way.

  • JDinCanada

Nice to see shows get to 100 eps .

I wonder if Sony will be this eager to get COMMUNITY to 100 ? Here’s hoping !

  • Geraint (Wales)

Glad that this has been renewed since Syfy has cancelled Sanctuary.

  • Gustavo

    Sounds about right.

  • Ram510

I’m guessing if CBS’s new only new comedy is a success but one or two of thier dramas fail they could expand the comedy block midseason since they now have Rules of Engagement and a couple others warming the bench

“while CBS will not admit it, RoE is their safety show that covers up the holes made by its comedies that flop”

Actually, I don’t think that CBS would have any problem at all admitting to that.

  • Andrea

“I guess Rules is CBS’s Mad About You, which even Warren Littlefield said that nobody really liked and that it’s numbers weren’t good but it was still their ultimate utility player back in the 90?s.”

surely nothing can’t beat According to Jim’s late renewals

  • Dan

Thank you. Rules will likely replace a failed comedy or air in another slot and now with its seventh and likely final season. Rules will get 100 episodes exactly.

love rules, predict it will be a major hit in syndication…just saying…I’m happy, and it may make another season, if they let 2 and a half men and Mother end otherwise it will be part of the spread and hopefully get to partake in the end of CBS’s comedy era w/Men/Mother/Rules ending
