After four seasons, Sanctuary has been canceled by Syfy. The season four finale aired in December 2011 and drew a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating and 1.288 million viewers.

My heart was completely shattered when I first heard. :(

  • Justin

    Uh oh!

  • LisaM

Any new shows scheduled for Syfy? No Sanctuary and no Eureka.

  • Tom

Great series. I will miss it. I wish they’d kept Emilie Ullerup though.

  • Geraint (Wales)

Hoping that they’ll do some movies like they did with SG-1.

  • Sam

Wut? They kept the same ratings for like 3 years and NOW they cancel it? Well that sucks… Maybe it will keep living in Canada since it’s made there… Sure hope so.

The writting was on the wall really. The last season ended like a series finale back in Decemeber. Since Decemeber there was not a word about another season. Only surprised that it was only annouced now. I’m confused about why it took until now for the annoucement.

Quit watching when Emilie Ullerup left the show. When I thought about going back to watching, it had strayed too far from the original concept for me.

Nikita on CW gets renewed for a full season with a 0.4 while Syfy cancels Sanctuary? Unfair but Syfy must have standards.

  • Observer

Syfy has no shows on anymore that I follow.

  • The Original J

Well, at least it only took them nearly half a year to make a decision. The brilliance of SyFy’s network suits strikes again!

  • AniMatsuri

I’m surprised they even bothered to mention this. I just assumed it to be so considering the way the season finale ended.

The final nail in the coffin was Haven getting the fall friday night slot.

    This is the obituary.

    I watch Haven,Alphas,and Warehouse 13.

    Looking forward to Defiance.

And if you needed more proof that the execs at SyFy “really dont care” about their watchers…. this was listed first (and only) on TV by the numbers… It still isn’t reported by SyFy on its own frakkin website.

  • dtillinghast

It has become a reality show channel. Not worth watching.

Frankly, I’m not surprised. As mentioned previously, the show had moved away from the original concept. Sad to see it go all the same. With Eureka gone as well, the only show I watch on SyFy is Warehouse 13. The other new series they have don’t interest me.

  • Barb

I really don’t get this channel. They push out most of their standard shows in favor of the reality / ghostbusters (whatever) rubbish. Time for another rebranding because they are not programming in the niche market they are suppose. I essentially what Eureka and some episodes of Warehouse 13 (the quality of the episodes have been hit and miss mostly during their run).

  • DW

was it following the good wife?. :)

  • Anthony M

Can anyone tell me, with all those ghost reality shows and paranormal shows on Sci Fi have any of you seen 1 episode that made you say holy crap. And I don’t mean because of some sound effect they could have easily tossed in.

  • Spudda

I guess now we know why they changed their name to syfy as since then they have systematically killed off all the Science Fiction shows that are worth watching with the exception of Warehouse 13 (which is probably next)

    Very disappointed by this news
