DESPERATE: HuffPo & Oprah Team Up Now
Talk about a lose-lose situation… Recent reports say Arianna Huffington’s job duties over AOL have been greatly downsized, while Oprah Winfrey’s failing OWN remains on life support at Discovery after losing millions. So what do the two women do? Why join forces, of course. This pathetic pairing sounds to me like an ill-conceived partnership, and it’s interesting that no mention is made of AOL which bought HuffPo last year. Today the Huffington Post Media Group and OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced the launch of an Oprah Winfrey section on Huffingtonpost.com coming August 2012. The special section on the website will feature content created and curated by writers and producers from OWN and Oprah.com specifically for The Huffington Post. Additionally, the section will call upon The Huffington Post’s network of bloggers and community to focus on Oprah.com content “to enlarge the conversation on living our best lives, as Oprah puts it,” said Huffington. Just what their readers don’t need: yet another artificially created dialogue. Winfrey’s OWN can’t capitalize on Oprah’s former popularity when she had her own syndicated talk show. Now analysts are betting that Discovery will pull the plug if topper David Zaslav can figure out a way to rationalize it, and all the money he’s wasted (one recent report predicts a $142M writedown), to Wall Street. As for Arianna, she was given editorial control of AOL’s online properties after HuffPo’s sale. But now she’s lost that and is only editorially in charge of HuffPo again.
In reference to Jeff’s humongous post regarding Governor Romney’s grandfathers marriages, I wonder if he has researched Barack Obamas Sr.’s past. He was married in 1954 to Kezia Obama and left her while she was pregnant with their daughter and also left her with their young son and came to the US (no divorce). He met Obama’s mother Stanley Ann Dunham and they were “married” in 1960 and Barack Jr. was born in 1960. Two years after this “marriage” Jr.’s mother found out Sr. was not divorced. Well, I guess this makes our president a bastard. Barack Sr. went on to “marry, two more times, first to Ruth Nidesand and then to Jael Oteono. Contrary to what Jr. wrote in his book, “Dreams of My Father” Obama Sr. was not what he was represented as being and was quite disreputable. References are: Wikipedia, WND.com2008/03/5980 and Who was Barack Obama’s Father? The Daily Beast on July 11, 2011.
Latest study shows that MSNBC News and Fox News viewers are the least informed people in America. Fox was the worst and MSNBC was the second worst. The most informed people were thos who listened to NPR and watched the Jon Stewart show…go figure.
Man, can we play on one post. Your guys are bouncing so much I am dizzy.
@Jeff
Miles is not Willard’s grandfather. You are stuck on repeating his great & great great grandfathers marriages. Do you even know what the grandfather’s name is?
Sharpie must have lost his voice huh?????
Mentions Of Trayvon Martin Case After Pro-Zimmerman Evidence Surfaces
In March and April, MSNBC’s primetime hosts ran with nearly wall-to-wall coverage of the killing of Florida teen Trayvon Martin. They regularly suggested that the lack of national interest in the case was worthy of outrage. Last week, when an avalanche of new evidence favorable to George Zimmerman came to light, MSNBC’s primetime lineup didn’t just bury the story, they didn’t mention Martin or Zimmerman once the week that news broke
It is coming, just like I forecast, and I can’t say that I dislike the measure either. Too many fake people roaming on the internet. Hopefully, this is just the preview of what will be a nationwide effort. “New York Legislation Would Ban Anonymous Online Speech.”
So Jeff you copy and paste from data you allegedly obtained from a source from the internet tied to what site and when. If you would actually read my post to Mark you would understand that putting up copy and paste numbers does nothing unless you have relevant data. Come back when you can play with the big kids and actually have a case. Your posts are not as impressive to others as you think they are, which makes them irrelevant and scanned over by most.
