Last week CNN's weekday (Mon-Fri) average primetime viewership of 395,000 was its lowest in more than 20 years (since September, 1991, I lack prior data).

More CNN ratings milestones last week (or millstones, as the case may be) (these rankings since 3/31/97):

  • 4th lowest weekday average for the news target adults 25-54 demo (111,000)
  • 3rd lowest full week (Mon-Sun) primetime viewership (385,000)
  • 4th lowest full week adults 25-54 demo (104,000)

    @Boss 1
“@betty … who let you out of your white rubber room tonight?” Boss, you mean you actually read her stuff? I don’t read any of the two and three solid cap. people (?), d.d. is fine and separated herself from them with her lower case initials. I always say d.d. is kind and better yet, intelligent, even if I don’t agree with her, at times, I still read her comments and ditto to R. Boy and Coffee Steve. I never take the bait from those who disrespect me and call me names. I just scroll by their comments, even when addressed to me. Why bother? There are so many words in the English language, why not use them, instead of nasty, insult words? Name calling and mean people just don’t do it for me, Boss. On a different note I am really concerned about the close to melt down in Reactor Four in Japan. If that happens, what we discuss here is a waste of time, considering what is in store for the world, our air and water. Of course, there is a blackout here regarding this subject, not one word on the MSM or in written form. Nada, zip, nope, nothing, which means we are in for some nasty happenings. The election will be on the back burner, if what I am discussing comes to pass. Anyone here who prays, had better pray. Great to see you here, Boss. Please come back more often. Later.

    Now here is a suprise!!!!

Networks Censor News of Massive Democratic Protest Vote Against Obama

42 percent of Democratic primary voters in Kentucky on Tuesday chose “uncommited” over Barack Obama. In Arkansas, a Tennessee attorney finished with 41 percent of the vote. ABC’s Good Morning America, NBC’s Today and CBS This Morning all skipped the story, despite the fact that CBS and NBC covered the far less interesting Republican primary.

During the month of May, Obama suffered through a series of humiliating protest votes in Democratic primaries. On May 8th, the incumbent President nearly lost the West Virginia primary to a convicted felon. Yet, except for a single mention at 4am on May 9th, the networks have buried Obama’s bad news.

MSNBC and FOX both challenge the opinions of the other position, but neither can prove that the other position is definitively wrong, they just rag on the past failures of Political Economic practices.

I do not agree with their network policy to always be left or right of Center. In general most Americans are close to Center. CNN tries to be center by being a passive commentator toward both Parties. As a result they are perceived as whimpy and they make very little effort at investigating and challenging anybody that makes a statement that they think may be news worthy. As a result of being whimps CNN’s new reports are more like gossip reports. The report may interest us but they have very little value.

The reason why CNN is doing so bad now is because they switched from being pro-Democrat to going after both parties. In the last 2 years, many of their anchors have gone after the White House and several Democrats. So now they have alienated both parties. In todays’ era of division amongst the people you have to choose a side and stick with it. CNN chose to go after both sides and they are now paying for it.

  • TheBoss1

The righties on this site go after MSNBC much more than CNN (which is basically ignored). So that tells me that MSNBC must be doing something right! :)

Hope you are improving every day. Ortho. & kidney pain are the worst…. & you have one of the two.

Who can take CNN seriously anymore, after they hosted that awful Tea Party debate? Now their ratings are in the basement just like the Tea Party.

As a member of a local tea party , I was appalled at how the t.p. audience behaved .

FormerCNNFan – enough. This isn’t some freshman board where you kids can hang out and get off on your off-colored jokes. Bill Gorman is clearly reluctant to censor as he probably believes we are all adults here. Act like one. It always amazes me that grown ups have to act like they’re trolling on the Hustler board. What a creepy perv.

As for CNN, there are two components to successful news TV – talent and format. FOX has found the formula for both. It’s not just carving out a niche. They have found the magic formula mix. MSNBC has format so they can squeak by. But CNN has neither. For talent, they hire the cast offs of the other stations – and not the GOOD cast offs. If they are mediocre on FOX (Margaret Hoover) or MSNBC they are going to be a complete and utter failure on CNN who has no format. Margaret Hoover couldn’t get a new contract on FOX so CNN hired her and she is joke. Larry King had the same format as Pierce whatever but replacing the crypt keeper with a boring Brit is crazy. The format works but the talent is so below average the format can’t save it. What is with CNN and MSNBC with people like Morgan and Bashir? The two most boring men in television. You cannot succeed with bad format AND bad talent. It’s a toxic stew for TV.

Why would you buy synthetic marijuana when you can just buy the high grade potent hydroponic marijuana?

Why would you watch CNN when you can just watch MSNBC?

CNN tries hard to appear objective but almost everyone who works at CNN is a liberal progressive.

So it is basically impossible to be objective. It comes across as fake and pretensious.

There are openly gay men like Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon who believe gay marriage is right and just.

Soledad O’Brien is a committed advocate for Barack Obama.

Piers Morgan is an obvious liberal who constantly obsesses about homosexuality when he interviews conservatives.

Out Front with (I forgot her name) is alright but it is just so boring and dry. Whatever her name is, she does try
hard to be objective but she doesn’t show any passion for anything in particular.

I like Anderson Cooper a lot (he tries the hardest to be objective) but it is hard for me to respect gay men. I can’t stop thinking what they do to each other behind closed doors and I can’t respect a man that does that with another man. It’s better to just be abstinent than engage in homosexual behavior (between males) because it destroys your masculinity. I feel sorry for Anderson because he could have been an amazing masculine man but he chose the wrong path for sexual expression.

Cnn should just split there time slots between republicans and democrat anchors. Try people out till they find people with better draw. people watch because they like the person talking. there recruiting stinks so far. jon stewart vs oreilly always worked for both stations. try again till you find someone likeable and not irritating.

if it was a Right Wing station the ratings would be up ……. Left Wing stations like CNN , MSNBC , ABC etc are just too many ……….people are over it ……. people are tired of hearing hate everyday …. that is all MSNBC does ….just plain hate !!

What one of the comments said is so true. Fox has pleasant looking people that seem to have fun at what they do. Where CNN and MSNBC have grouchy looking people that seem like psychos.

  • 1nancy2

Pleasant looking? Funny, I see your last sentence relating more to fox hosts, than CNN and MSNBC, but then, we are entitled to our own opinions. Yes, ‘fun’ at distorting the facts to their way of thinking and getting their viewers to believe them:…which they do.

  • Steve

Maybe CNN should try doing some actual news. It’s been so dumbed down that most times I tune in, it’s like watching an episode of Mr. Rogers.

Too bad we can’t get the REAL version of CNN, which is seen in every country outside the US. CNN International is a serious hard-core news network.

  • KGB

Mainstream NEWS is very bias. I switched to RT and Al-Jazeera. Wow, what is huge difference. There reporting is un-biased and to the point.
