It is funny that votefair predicted that Jessica will win. But even that website knows that people can vote more than once per week for their favorite.

People should understand that American Idol doesn’t put a set limit on the number of votes by phone that Dancing with the Stars or The Voice does. People say that with 5 guys winning American Idol over the last 5 years, girls won’t apply. Jessica already applied to America’s Got Talent a few years ago. She didn’t win. What else is Jessica going to do? Lauren Alaina also applied to America’s Got Talent but she didn’t make it to the live shows. Females will still apply to American Idol even after America’s Got Talent rejected them. That whole argument about girls will never apply to American Idol is ludicrous.

  • AniMatsuri

Girls can apply. They just should keep in mind its not very likely they’ll ever be able to win.

The best predictor, especially when its down to the final 2 is dialidol.com

American Idol is not the same as it used to be. The more recent winners hardly make a dent into the music industry. A guy who’s name is Phillip Phillips sounds more like a Porn star name, lol.

  • greenmantis

Great. Another no talent hack being jammed down our throats. Guy sounds like a 4th place karaoke contestant at the local bar.

  • Anthony Parello (AP076)

Thank God the music industry is more gender and ethnically diverse than this puppy mill of singers called American Idol. No wonder each year sees its winners experience less and less success while at the same time rating go further and further down (though still very good it should be noted).

It’s a matter of opinion. Donald has a huge sports fan base that supported him. William and Katherine were virtually unknown to the American public which right away put them at a disadvantage. Imo, Donald looked stiff a lot of the time. His moves were not nearly as fluid as William’s and Katherine is just a beautiful dancer. Her form and posture were always beautiful and graceful. Donald has skill, but he won on popularity. Much like Philip.

Gotta give it up for Idol. I don’t watch anymore b/c of the lengthy auditions, but Idol’s winners and near winners have done some fabulous things out there in the music world.
@John, Fantasia, Reuben Studdard, Clay Aiken, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, Kellie Pickler, and more would disagree with your premise, but I guess there is a recent trend in that direction?

  • John

Im just talking about the recent trend. Did PP deserve to win? Yes! The person with the most votes Should win. But c’mon, it’s hard to argue that young female voters Tend to have more patience and are willing to vote multiple times than everybody else. Who might have won if the votes were limited to 1 per phone number, I DON’T KNOW, but I think it’s about time we did. If AI wanted to do a drastic change next season, I think that shoul be the change they make.

  • Tara

Phillip deserved this hands down, and NO ONE KNEW OF HIS HEALTH ISSUES and 8 SURGERIES DURING THE SHOW, HE IS VERY MODEST AND HUMBLE, GUESS HE DIDN’T WANT SYMPATHY VOTES, AND FYI WHEN JESSICA HAD A SORE THROAT ONE NIGHT SHE LET THE WHOLE WORLD KNOW, think ppl should get their facts straight, oh and America voted her off awhile ago, the judges saved her, they always praised her and josh…if anything this proves that his ARTISTRY, HUMBLENESS, TALENT, SINGING and STAYING TRUE TO HIMSELF/ROOTS WON HIM THIS TITLE>> BEST OF LUCK TO PHILLIP, you are an INSPIRATION and IDOL to ALL AGES, RACES, AND GENDERS!!!
