What's The Next Show That Deadline Will Claim May Be Picked Up By Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, Cable Or...?

As the parade of shows noted by Deadline.com as potentially being picked up by Hulu, Amazon, Netflix, cable networks and/or Joe the Plumber lengthens, it's become somewhat of a running joke between Robert and I as to which show will be next. Not sure which one of us had Pan Am, but we can add that to the parade today.

As a business model catering to the desperate fan it's got a lot to recommend it. They can go with "There's Hope," then "There's Still Hope," and finally "Alas, No More Hope" posts and harvest the pageviews all along the way. Even better if they can grab some crazy rant from a star or a producer.

So, in the spirit of expanding our business model (if just a tiny bit), I thought I'd open the floor to guessing for "What will be the next show that Deadline will claim may be saved by some non-broadcast TV source?"

Disqualified guesses: (since the posts have already been written): Pan Am, Terra Nova, The River, Unforgettable.

    Hmm, so many choices…

I’m going to go with Harry’s Law. Second choice: Alcatraz.

Okay, this is getting ridiculous. First The River was being considered by Netflix, then TNT looks at Unforgettable and now Amazon may save Pan Am? Just stop, Deadline.

  3. Holly

    Awake.

  4. Hello!? Harry’s Law. Duh.

To Nellie’s credit she did have the Cougar Town to TBS scoop before anyone.

  5. @Greg, I must have missed The River post (I admittedly didn’t look back too far). Will edit the post.

And yet she was also way out in front of the “Harry’s Law is getting a 13 episode mid-season order” meme too.

Fire enough times, and you’ll hit somewhere!

I’m going to go with The Playboy Club. Every streaming service will want to have their own period drama!

In a more realistic line, I can see some streaming service saving Nikita for a season 4, similar to Cougar Town.

At least Unforgettable to TNT sounds more plausible than Pan Am to Amazon.

True, but I don’t think her goal is to “hit” but rather to report on what she’s hearing. As noted privately, I have no objection to that. What I object to is nonsensical assertions like some prestigious European award means that a show is “hugely popular” in Europe.
