As another broadcast TV season slips into the rear view mirror, NBC Sunday Night Football finishes on top of the all important adults 18-49 ratings. The contest for second was a nail biter, as the Wednesday American Idol edged The Voice by just 0.04 ratings points. Modern Family was the top scripted show of the season.

Interesting, Private Practice is ABC’s #3 drama, ahead of Revenge with DVR factored in.
What turns out to fell terribly unfair for the GCB fans is that their show ends the season with a much better demo average than Scandal, and got axed for a show that didn’t have as many viewers even though it benefited from the best lead-in the network could offer. If I was a GCB fan I would be pissed that my favorite show was axed for a show that didn’t deliver.
Parenthood is the highest drama on NBC after Smash. interesting. Even SVU is lower.

@KS Secret Circle has a bigger lead in unlike SPN. SPN is on a Friday which is known for getting worse ratings and TSC had a much bigger lead in. Also don’t forget that shows tend to drop in ratings when they get to their 7th season.
Everything on this list is skewed to 18-49. Including the Total Viewers.

This chart demonstrates conclusively that the CW is nothing more than a programming graveyard. Take away TVD at #135 and the next entry – ANTM – comes at at #150. Then it’s OTH’s swan song at #159 followed by TSC #165. (Smooth move cancelling your fourth highest rated show Pedowicz). After that you have to drop ten more positions to find soon-to-be-ended Gossip Girl. Candidly, I doubt if anything less than broadcasting the End of Days could make the CW a credible network. Even most of the cable networks attract greater viewer interest. The CW is an embarrassment and it’s high time for CBS and the WB to pull its plug.

Is there such a list in which they’re ranked by total viewers? It’s true 18-49 is more important, but it would be interesting to see. I remember last year you had a post for them ranked by 18-49 and for them ranked by total viewers…
So ABC has the number 1 comedy, number 1 drama, and number 1 new drama. Good for them.

CBS has 11 shows in the top 30, Fox has 9, NBC has 5, and ABC has 5.
For all those wondering how a cancelled show is above a renewed show, it’s live+7.
Some shows like Alcatraz and Secret Circle gets a nice bump via DVR, but their live ratings weren’t good. Secret Circle should have been renewed though, it fared better than many other CW shows for the 90% on the season and only did bad on the last episodes. A shame it was cancelled, but what can you do?
Alcatraz had, sadly, no chance of being renewed, it got 1.5s for a few weeks, so it was a goner, while Touch got decent/borderline numbers, usually 2s
SNF had 3 games air before the tv season started on 9/19 so their avg would be even higher with those games.

With 34 hours telecast, I think a reasonable argument could be made that NCIS was the most valuable scripted show. I’d go with Grey’s Anatomy 2nd and Modern Family, Criminal Minds and The Big Bang Theory for a 3 way tie (more or less) for 3rd.
It is time to stop lumping TheCW in with four broadcast networks. TheCW is a quasi-network.

As noted, those are adults 18-49 viewers, not total viewers.
Also, Modern Family had 24 telecasts, not 34, and Glee had 22 telecasts, not 25.
